I didn't respond to the other because pretty much every place I've traveled to I have enjoyed.

@Ngwira - here's an article that preceded yours.

https://10xtravel.com/10xtravel-team-our-dream-destinations/
What is everyone's dream destination?

Mine would be the Adriatic Coast- I would love to sail from Venice down the coast of Croatia, Montenegro, Albania to Greece. I love water, sailing and doing nothing so it's the perfect fit for me. ⛵

But for dream destinations...Monaco...lol

Or maybe more realistically Hawaii London and Paris. I know you've all been there and reading your posts about them makes me want to definitely go.

I like leaving the park at noon hahaha. (That’s a slight exaggeration)
On this trip next week with the kids, we’re planning to hit AM emh at every park and basically be done by 12 or 1. Then nap, swimming, dinner.

We’re doing an adult trip in September, if we weren’t getting APs, these would be perfect. Sleep in, have brunch, head to a park for fast-passes and dinner and fireworks.

Dh and I started looking at flights to Iowa for Christmas and OMG are they expensive. I have no idea what we're going to end up doing, but I have never in my life paid $153 PER PERSON for a one way ticket. That's with Allegiant and doesn't include bags or seats. It's nonstop which is great, but holy cow. It would end up being like $700 for the two of us. I have a feeling other airlines would be even more. I'm tempted to tell people, "Sorry, we're coming two weeks before Christmas."

Anybody here see the news of this strange new “Midday” Disney World ticket?

https://blogmickey.com/2019/08/mid-day-magic-ticket-now-available-for-walt-disney-world-theme-parks/
(Lots of news sources out there - I just happened to pick that one).

I get what it is but it just seems odd to me LOL.
Yes. It went out to the TAs in an email blast this morning. Personally what was very weird about it was not necessarily the ticket itself but the article for the TAs. It laid out very specifically why this was so great, how to sell it to clients and that it’s commissionable. They just pushed a lot more ideas than usual and sometimes if it’s a good product it won’t be commissionable to TAs. They want these tickets pushed. (So look for outfits like Undercover Tourist to offer it). The article left Disney sounding desperate to me.

You unfortunately might need to reset your expectations around holidays. $350 a person for flights around Christmas is a bargain! I'd imagine there's a lot of people who would love to see flights that cheap! 😂

Doesn't seem unreasonable - hard to go very far for less than that during Christmas week (unless you fly Christmas Day)

Delta has that statement credit offer still alive today. It’s not amazing but if you have to pay cash for an airline ticket anyway and DL is an option it could pay off for you right away. Free bags as a DL card holder. Today is the last day.

That's so expensive for an Allegiant flight! They're like the bare minimum when it comes to flying lol. I found online that you can call Chase and book Allegiant on the phone with points. Has anyone done this before? I'm not even sure that we'd have enough points to book a $700 flight. I also don't really want to waste my points on this.

Our flight just got cancelled for tonight 😳 Calling SW now.
Didn't @Andysol have this happen and he stayed at GF and ate at Narcoossee's?!

Sure did. Worst lobster I've ever had. ;)

@wendow if you booked with CSR or CSP (even if just the fees) you are $500 for yourself + $500 for spouse and each child under 18. So if you're with a group of 4, that's $2k. Hotel fully covered, take Uber instead of magical express (covered), lunch, dinner and breakfast, lunch tomorrow (covered), etc. You can spend up to $50 per person on meals without requiring a receipt, but could still eat more if you wanted, you would just need to provide receipt. Character breakfast tomorrow if you want, etc. Put it all on your CSR. Booze covered as well, so live it up. Maybe even take an afternoon flight out.

Another tip is: Restock on toiletries if you're a "carry on" person. Grab a travel toothbrush, aspirins, etc that are in the Hotel shop. We also did Laundry and they covered it if you're short on clothes (could do this yourself or via room service depending on hotel).

ETA: You will want to ask the gate agent at SW for a written letter tomorrow before you fly out. You might get a $50 or $100 voucher/person to boot. But if it's weather or mechanical, they need to provide that to you (it's just a handwritten "fill in the blanks" note they do).

oh no! Is this a max8 issue? Ugghhh.

So yesterday I pulled up all SW arrivals for BNA. It was astounding how many delays and cancellations there were. Then I was curious, so I started looking at departures. Same. Then I pulled up the same for MCO. Tons of delays and departures.
Then to compare, I pulled up all airlines arrivals and departures. SW was delaying and cancelling at much higher rate than anyone else.
DD's frontier flight arrived on time. All was well with it.

All this to say, SW is having serious probs right now...as I have experience myself several times recently.

We just are not used to paying that at all, but we've never had to fly at Christmas before. I'm super tempted to just drive now. It's so far away, though.

I think Allegiant is our only option to get a nonstop flight. Otherwise, we have to go through Chicago first and I really would rather not do that in the winter and during Christmas time if I can help it. I might need to have Dh apply for a card that has a travel eraser. I have the Capital One Venture so maybe he could get that card, too? I have no idea what our best option is.

We (and @Alexle2007 ) stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key, and I know @Judique has stayed there also. I liked it. It is not in the Clearwater Strip, which I personally loved, but I think @Alexle2007's family did not like that. It was an easy trolley ride to get to the busier Clearwater area. I walked for miles on the Sand key beach and saw maybe 10 people total. On the Clearwater side you will have 10 people in your personal space at all times. This was in June, so not sure how it is if you are looking off peak. We took the Trolley all the way to Dunedin. It was a cute little town. We just walked around and ate there then took an Uber back to the Sheraton so we didn't have to wait on the Trolley. The Trolley was easy enough, but we had to transfer and had a little wait in the town of Clearwater (not the beach area) and it is strange over there. lol The town is apparently mostly owned by the Scientology Church. We thought there was a big resort that had a massive shift change while we were waiting because all these people were walking around in uniforms. Nope, it was church members. I don't know anything about the church, hope I don't offend anyone, not saying anything bad about it, it was just strange. Have no idea why they all dress alike.

So are you looking for beach activity or something else while staying there? Quiet beach activity I would pick the Sheraton (or Marriott across street). In the middle of everything beach activity then Clearwater Beach area or quiet quaint little Downtown area then pick Dunedin.

I've never seen/heard of the church thing. Now I'll be a gawking on my next visit.

So it's funny you say this... I didn't want to just put it out there in case somebody here maybe is a Scientologist (probably unlikely, but whatever), but part of the reason DH wants to stay in the Clearwater area instead of Tampa is because he's OBSESSED with that Leah Remini show about Scientology and has seen them driving through Clearwater and how the church has basically taken over the whole town and now he really wants to see it :rotfl2: :rotfl2: So when I texted him earlier and told him I'd booked a return flight and found us a couple options for hotels in Clearwater so he can walk around that afternoon and see all the Scientologists, he was thrilled. I think he may have been more excited than when I booked us first class round trip tickets for Japan

I had to LOL at this comment. I watch the show too and I find it fascinating. I grew up around there and the first time I went with DH and he was like "what is this", I was just like "oh its the scientologist's but don't worry, they don't talk to you". He thought there was a fleet week in town with them all dressed in their uniforms. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But anyways, Scientology aside, I'm thinking since it'll just be the late afternoon/evening, we are probably just going to want to check out some of Clearwater and then get a nice dinner and relax. So I'm thinking Dunedin might be a good option to stay at and we can just drive around Clearwater some and check it out.

Dunedin is a nice little town if the weather is nice and you want to just walk around. I'd second what @Judique said about Honeymoon Park, you can also take a ferry out to Caladesi Island - the only way to get there is by boat and its like you're on a private island. I would only really do that if you had the majority of the day to spend out there. It's nice and relaxing though.

I have nothing to MS right now. I finished my Hyatt 15k Free night. I do 6,000 a month on Ebates/GCM. Waiting for more staples promos to do the CIC. There hasn't been a VGC deal at grocery stores in awhile so I bet one is coming soon. Im holding off on finishing SO's gold until then. Should I just order 1500 a day on GCM with the BBP (this makes me nervous with Amex's new terms), Freedom Unlimited, Southwest?
GCM you do with MOs, right? And you have to pay the GC fee, but still think it is worth it for the 2x points on BBP? I am trying to keep this all straight.

I would expect that they would put you on the next available flight, cover overnight lodging and food, PLUS a voucher to use another time.

Just chiming in to add that you will be told when that next available flight is before you commit to giving up your seat. Unfortunately the few times I or family members have been on a flight that was bumping people, the next available flight wasn't workable.
