The other one is on the Max 8? no way would I fly it even if it is approved to fly again. Also, the more time you can spend at Disney the better lol. Our flight home Sunday lands at BWI at 1am. BWI is an hour from my apartment and SO gets up at 6am for work, but we are doing it lol. He will probably just work from home.
Not a Max - just an -800. I'm potentially avoiding it because of the higher likelihood that they snag that plane when they reconfigure schedules and I don't want to have to figure it all out, lol.

What month? If the Maxes are back in service by then less chance the planes are getting moved around.
January - I'm guessing Maxes aren't going to be in the air by then. Max has been removed from their schedule through 1/5. I'm not sure if they included any in today's release. I guess that info would be helpful.

I think I'm just going to stick with the later flight because 90 more minutes at WDW is AWESOME, right?

I have a question for the SW experts.

I don't like that you have to pay to transfer points. What would happen if I booked a flight for someone else on my points and then cancelled it. Do those points go to that person because the travel funds stick with them OR do they return to my RR account?
Those points would return to your RR account.

Thank you! I was told 7 days ago that Disney will send me an email in 7-14 business days and then it can take another 14 days from then to have all my points. Im excited to play around with it though and see what's available. Im pretty flexible. I would love to book a trip for festival of the arts.

I've been there for that. They have food booths like a mini food and wine but they try to make the food artsy - doesn't always work for taste - plus they do a lot of the deconstructed stuff, again at the expense of taste. But we liked the picture opps where they framed you into an old master or something like that. Older daughter had to do them all.

It is awesome! May you be in the 99% of 800s that don't get moved!

I may not have said this clearly but the 700 is the later flight. So I feel like it's a safer play anyways, LOL! So I get my extra 90 minutes AND we avoid the 800 plane and any potential schedule changes... Win/Win for me... :D (Until we get to the airport and my wife asks why we weren't on the plane taking off now...LOL!)

The food is meh, but SO loves looking at the art. We saw a great painting of Tomorrowland last year for like $2500. We didn’t know they had prints of it until we were home and saw it in the background of someone’s Vlog. We went in March trying to find it and couldn’t find it anywhere. We went back in May and found only one at the Art store at Epcot. It’s now framed in our living room. We want to go again and take our time looking at the art so we aren’t running all over trying to find something again.

I don’t love our departure flight time of 7am but the 11am flight is too much. If the cost drops and I switch to the new flight do I lose my EBCI?
If you CHANGE your flight, then no, you won't lose EBCI. You will reset your place in the EBCI line though (your boarding position is assigned based on when you booked the flight and that would then be your change date...but I wouldn't let that dissuade you from changing to a more preferred time unless you were doing it a month or 2 before the flight or something like that)

FYI - Southwest extended their schedule this morning for flights through March 6th, 2020.

Here is my usual Historical Southwest Release Dates (for planning purposes) comment:
  • NEXT RELEASE: 9/26/19 - travel through April 13th, 2020
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I'm going to be at a cabin in the Eldorado National Forest outside of Lake Tahoe on September 26--I hope my cousin's daughter's boyfriend ( ) figured out the wifi setup because there is no way I'd be able to book 12 one-ways from my phone with iffy cell service!

Maybe Southwest will extend the date to the following week 🤞
I've never actually used the request menu! I'm usually at BWV and there must be something in my profile that says 'will take the crummy view down by the tennis courts' lol. That's where I like to be and mostly because of parking and bus stop.

I do try to get to the desk early - I never do online check in because that requires a credit card and they don't get my credit card. I think Florida is the scammiest place for using CC's.

The rooms are already assigned by then, 'but' they are constantly reassigning to accommodate people who arrive earlier etc (those that complain and raise a stink) and there is always a chance they will try to give you what you want.

Of course nothing is guaranteed. The new day opens at 7am, so if you are in the area, say at a WDW resort or offsite, it may be worth a shot. I've actually gotten into a room at 7am. Mostly when I was staying at BW area resorts with split stays. Now it's a little more difficult as occupancy is much higher and they have this thing where if they sign you in it checks you out of your other WDW room, which isn't a problem if someone is still in the room(you own the room until 11am), but it makes your keys not work.
Thanks :) I hope we can get an early flight down that day!

I found a standard studio at Kidani dec 14-18, 61 points. I'm now going to switch to 1 bedrooms and see if there's anything other than random nights here and there which is what the studios are.
Those dates are actually perfect. Thanks so much!

Your points are always your points. If you cancel, then you'd get the points back in your account :) That's why SW points are AMAZING!
Those points would return to your RR account.
Thank you both! I was trying to see if I could be sly and somehow circumvent the transfer fee 😂

I sadly have no use for RRs anymore and was trying to pool them to my sister who does. I will probably just cash out to a Disney GC because that seems easier to swallow than paying $0.01 per point to transfer them.

Just to weigh in being a resident aviation geek... 737-800 is not the older version of the 737 MAX 8. So there is just as much likelihood of the MAX 8 replacing a -700 as there is replacing a -800 flight (if that replacement were to happen at all). If you take a look at the charts on this site: https://simpleflying.com/boeing-737-max-vs-737-800/ you can see the range and passenger capacity of the -800 vs MAX 8 is completely different so there's no real comparison.

I feel the same way! I honestly don't go crazy over any of the festival food. I like all the other things the festivals bring! I would love to participate in the big mural, view the art, do the workshops, etc. My main concern is the winter. I don't want bad weather to affect me getting there OR being sick. Obviously this can happen anytime/anywhere, but I feel its more likely to happen in Jan/Feb so I always end up deciding not to book 😞

DD and I are booked for our Jan. weekend. 29,500 RR points. I am a sucker for EBCI bc I always forget to check in but I didn’t realize it jumped up to $25! When did this happen? I paid it and used my rose gold so hopefully that counts towards the credit?
Thinking we will be skipping that from now on.

Sometime last year SW went to dynamic pricing for the EBCI so it can be anywhere from $15 - $25 depending on your selection. I haven't seen it for $15 since they introduced it so I have no idea how they decide. I think I saw it for $20 once but since I haven't needed it lately I'm not keeping a close eye on it and don't remember what flight I was pricing. I'd just plan for it always to be $25 now and be pleasantly surprised if you see it for less.

Oh lol! ...Think I better make myself another cup of coffee and thank my lucky stars I’m not booking any flights today :rotfl2:

When SW adjusts their schedule and moves things around to adjust for the Max, they are the most likely flights to be affected. We've seen a pattern of this on the SW thread here on the DIS. The odds of being affected are still probably less than 1% BUT I don't want to be figuring out how to reconfigure our flights 3 months from now either.

I don't think I realized that. That makes me feel better our flights in September to WDW since we're on a 700!

I booked return flights on SW from MCO to RIC for 1/26 leaving at 11:30 AM. I'm hoping these drop in points some since it's not over a holiday weekend. Actually, right after one. So I'm thinking not a ton of people will be traveling then. I'm going to talk to DH a little more and then probably book flights to MCO on Jetblue. They're currently at 5300 pp one way nonstop. That's a pretty good point valuation so I might just go ahead and book it. They sometimes go as low as 3900 pp, but that's usually for the evening nonstop flight and not the flight that gets in at 1:30 pm.

My tentative plan for this trip is to fly into MCO on 1/21, rent a car and drive to Clearwater. I still have a Marriott free night to use and there are a lot of nice hotels on the beach for 35k. We'd check out Clearwater and stay there overnight and go to BG Tampa the next day. We'd leave BG and drive back to Orlando for our four night stay at Sheraton Vistana Villages. I'm thinking Universal on 1/23, maaaaybe a day at Disney 1/24, then the required timeshare presentation and outlet/Disney Springs shopping on 1/25. Fly home mid day 1/26.

I respectfully disagree - those charts are looking at a 2-class system. The SW seating configuration on their 737-800 and 737-Max8 are both 175 passengers making them a far easier swap out than snagging a 737-700 that only seats 143. Anecdotally, we have also seen more -800 flights get affected than -700s.

EDIT: you and I are actually talking about two opposite things too, lol. I understand what you're trying to say now, but that is not what I'm concerned about or looking at :)
