This is the kind of experience I was worried about. Oh well, looks like it is worth a try anyway if it’s not too much of a hassle getting there.
I've been several times and have never had this type of experience and they had all been in the late afternoon/early evening timeframe.

I booked our trip to Rome this morning. We are going in April 2020. We are flying Delta comfort from JFK-FCO 66,000 miles per person round trip. We are staying at the palazzo naiadi for five nights using 240,000 Marriott points.

Nice job! The property looks beautiful and that location in Rome is super convenient with the metro nearby. There's so much to do there in Rome!

So is the prevailing wisdom now to cancel your AA biz card before applying for another? I would be applying for #3 this round...

Yes, that's the current recommendation, even though there's mixed DPs as per usual with Citi...

Sounds awesome! Where are you getting your Marriott points these days?

They were left over from two Marriott personal and two SPG Biz cards. I used some for Atlantis, some for DL, and some of NY and then this. I’m all out now.

ETA I think I have like 30,000? Left

I've never signed up for ebates/Rakuten before. I have that new Amex Plat.

Should I register for the MR-linked account or the cash back account? Pros/cons?

I've been mentally using all cash back (Chase offers, RMN, Dosh) to offset annual fees.

Definitely bougie!

👍 I'm sorry Atlantis turned out to be such a waste of Marriott points. Transferring from UR or MR is going to be painful going forward, even when the math works out.

Chase United Club application update: Applied on 8/2, got the need time to review response. Called status line, it informs me that I'll hear in 2 weeks, which should be good news. Called status line on 8/4, it's now changed to "you will be notified of our decision within 30 days". Not necessarily bad, but not ideal either. Status line has remained the same since then. So this morning when I called it, I opted to speak to a representative, to see if they needed any verification or additional details. (I'm anxious because I have a lot of travel coming up and want the United Club access). Customer service rep transfers me to fraud. I verify my identity and she indicates that she is going to refer my application for approval. Great! But then she says after she referred it for approval that it is still under internal review. Boo. Called status line and still at 30 days. Sigh.

I have no idea what the hold up is. I have four Chase personal cards, and haven't gotten a new one since my CSR in April, 2017. I'm 2/24, so that's not the issue. I did get a CIP about two months ago, so I guess I'm violating the 90 day guideline, but then again that was business and this is personal. I use my CSR but not any of the other three (Disney-opened in 2013, SW-2014 and Bonvoy-2011). I have applied for a few other biz cards in the last six months (Amex Gold, Citi AA, Barclay AA, Amex Hilton), perhaps they're seeing those credit inquiries? May be time to move to Amex, but I'm only 2/24 so that seems like a waste. Hopefully Chase isn't mad at me. I don't know, back to stalking the status line.

What is the deal with Priority Pass and “The Club” (both of them) at MCO? Our return flight is 8/21 at 7:50 and we were thinking of arriving to the airport early to grab some food and drinks in a lounge but I’m wondering if we will be let in or turned away due to space restrictions.

Anyone here have experience with the lounges at MCO using a PP?

We are flying SW so I believe it takes a little work to get to and from the lounges. I would hate to drag my kids around the airport only to be denied access.

We love Cask and Larder so that would be our second choice but I’d rather eat and drink for free lol. I’m just wondering if the lounges are worth a shot at 4:50 on a Wednesday.
If it's not close to your gate I wouldn't bother with a family, not because of crowds but because The Club just isn't worth it. Personally I like The Clubs for a place to relax, grab a glass of wine or bubbly, and some crudites. But I don't tend to like the rest of their food. If you have remotely pick eaters you can forget about making a meal off of their offerings. (I also tend to look at those finger sandwiches and wonder just how many children have touched them?)
