Throw Up on the Lap Bars Please- A June 2019 TR! COMPLETED 3/1!

Perhaps the directions function in MDE is new? (I never knew about it either!)

It's always good to know about more bathrooms!

You got some great pictures in World Showcase and seemed to have some fun meet and greets. Despite the heat, it looks like you had a lovely afternoon!

Hi Courtney! I'm here, all caught up, and ready for more. Thankfully we haven't even gotten through one day yet :D

Looks like you all had fun in Nashville. I had to share we went to Dollywood once in like the late 80s/early-90s and for a kid from Washington, DC used to Disney World it was a bit of a "culture" shock. There weren't many rides there then so my brother and I busied ourselves with a fun game of having to take polaroid pictures of some of our favorite parkgoers. We had wonderful categories like kissing cousins, hairiest backs, least branches in the family tree. Our parents did not find us funny and you'll be shocked to know we never returned. My brother went back last year and was "sad" to let me know the park and clientele had improved :P

I'm a little late getting here, but joining in

:welcome: Thank you for joining!

And happily…still on day 1! Your TR moves about as fast as mine! :rotfl:

:rotfl:Nothing wrong with a nice snail's paced TR :rolleyes1

Your travel day/pre-travel day sounds like a nightmare. I worked nights for one years, and I do NOT miss it in the slightest :sad2: I was younger then though, I don't even think I could do it now.

I'm a nurse 7 years now and on nights for 5 and I'm at the point now where I think it's time to make the change to days. It makes me sad because I love my coworkers but I basically can't function on my days off anymore!

Also, I noticed we have more in common than nursing…we both have Mikes and we both use the same font in our trip reports ::yes::

Oo wow. Great minds think alike :goodvibes

OMG, I'm such a dope. I kept looking at your pic and thinking, "I don't see any lanterns, but how cool to see the Skyliner hanging over her resort." :rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl:They do look like the gondolas now that i look at them again!

I love our Fuel Rod too. I never remembered to charge up my own portable chargers, not I don't have to.

Same here- I always wound up in the park with a dead charger and running around the room looking for enough outlets to plug everything in annoys me. Well worth the $30 to me.

Ugh, you deserve that nap. I'm doing the same thing kind of…I go back to work Thursday and work Thursday, Friday, Saturday, OFF Sunday, then on 4 in a row…all 12s…I'm going to be dead :crazy2:

:eek:Oh no- that's like not having a day off at all! I swear 12 hours are a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Great pic! And your magic band is super cute. Was that one of the special upgraded ones?

Thank you! Yes! The upgrades didn't open up until it was too late to get them for our resort stay but I got one with my AP renewal band. And now that we have a split stay for Fall, I've ordered two more sets...:scared:

Hi Courtney! I'm here, all caught up, and ready for more.

:welcome: Thanks for reading!

Thankfully we haven't even gotten through one day yet :D

:rotfl:just crawling along here!

Thank you for sharing! This literally made me lol. While Dollywood has improved, there were other places in our travels where that game would've been great (especially in Kentucky lol).

My dad would probably play along with us but my mom would definitely not be amused :rotfl:

That looked like an excellent first day! I’m always happy to wait in line when I have a beer 😉😊.
Also great to find out about new toilets - I go that often my family say oh mum’s on the toilet ride again 😂😂
We have a cupboard (high one) dedicated to souvenir cups/popcorn buckets etc. that never get looked at again 😂😂 but if I were to throw one out 🤯😥😵

Me too!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: that's hysterical

Yup same here but I do drink out of some of the souvenir cups and I try to display some of the popcorn buckets :rotfl:

I am quite impressed with how much you are getting done on your travel day. Love all the cute character pictures.

At first I thought there was no line at all but then I realized they had the line on the left side of Donald instead of against the wall where we've always waited. It still wasn't a long line though so we stopped.
They almost suckered me in with that change too. Then I saw a few people in a line to the left. Then I saw the flag and matching shirts...

Nope, we outta here.
She asked if we'd ever used that part of the app before and when I said no, she asked why and I had to admit I never realized it existed. :rotfl: (I didn't mention that WDW is one of the only places on earth I don't need a map for).
How true... I know there are things in the app that I probably don't realize are there because I don't need/look for them. I actually did study a map this trip just to figure out the lay of the land before going into Toy Story Land.
You can half see us in the back there. It's a cute ride that I'm always happy to find a FP for but definitely nothing I would wait in crazy lines for!
How true. I really hope that Guardians and Ratatouille help spread out some of the craziness.
After our ride, we had no concrete plans except to relax and walk through the World Showcase
That's a pretty solid plan to go with, any time.
I've never met a souvenir cup I didn't buy
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:
Mike opted not to be in the photos for whatever reason.🤷‍♀️
Somebody had to hold (drink) the beer.
Exactly! I'm sure I'll be running around like a chicken without a head in Disneyland next year
I've gone there once. I've got to say it isn't as bad as you might expect. With some slight variations, Disneyland is laid out very similar to MK. You'll have a sense of familiarity, yet be exploring new things, although I'm not sure how much Galaxy's Edge has changed that. DCA isn't too bad to get around either. I'm excited for you to have a chance to go check it out!

Ahhh run lol!

I hope so too but I hope they don't make everything tier 1 like DHS!

That's a pretty solid plan to go with, any time.

Agreed!

Good to know! Thank you! I'm excited too. We've been putting off going for years and I can't wait to finally get there!

I Take A Nap Right Here

Okay guys, buckle up- it's time to finally make it through the end of arrival day!

When we left off, we were about halfway through the World Showcase. We continued on the rest of the way through and I was delighted to find a good number of photopass photographers out in the countries. These are always some of my favorite photopass spots and I find it's hit or miss if there's CMs stationed in them.

Our first stop was in Japan.

I love the country specific borders too.

I just wish I had taken my sunglasses off for some of these.

It's amazing to me how empty Epcot is without a festival and I took the opportunity for a people-free picture of my favorite building.

We spent some time exploring my favorite World Showcase store, the Japanese department store. I think I miraculously made it out without buying anything except for some Pocky. (No photographic evidence of this so imagine a red box of chocolate deliciousness).

Our next stop was in Morocco, where i was especially excited for a photopass CM because I'd seen a new magic shot on social media that I wanted.

These are basically our default magic shot faces. They'll show up again.

Again, love the border but hate the weird way it cuts this picture.

I hate when photopass wants you to go for the hug shot lol. I feel like it highlights the gross, sticky mess I've inevitably turned into.

Our world tour took us to France next and I must've been feeling sick because I don't have a slush in hand. :confused3

The CM here was absolutely lovely and decided Mike must need some extra magic in his life. I, of course, agreed and this was the result:

:rotfl::rotfl:Thank you photopass CM- I'm still laughing!

As we continued around, we debated what to do next. We still had about two hours until Illuminations. I was voting for circling back to Mexico and Norway then staking out a spot but DBF was talking about going back into Future World to try to meet Joy and Sadness and Baymax and try to ride Mission Space, all of which we skipped earlier. My feet weren't happy about the amount of walking in this plan and eventually Mike saw it my way and to Norway we went.

There were some famous sister I wanted to meet and the wait time was only posted at 20 minutes.

I stopped to trade a pin with this CM on the way in but I don't remember which one anymore lol.

Even though the wait time was posted at 20 minutes, there was only 2 other families in line. I love the details in the queue and usually take a ton of pictures, but today, I had no time!

First up, we were meeting the Ice Queen herself and photopass captured another gem of my awkward face.

Thank you so much for this memory.

Elsa was pleasant. I requested she use her ice powers on the outdoors (which I think I do pretty much every time I meet her and she never complies for some reason).

Obviously Anna was up next.

She put me on the spot by asking how long we've been together and then asking me what I think makes a relationship work.

The face above is me being put on the spot by a Disney princess and having no idea what to say.:lmao:I eventually supplied that food seems to be the glue to the relationship.

I Take A Nap Right Here Part 2

After getting a good laugh at my expense, we backtracked to Mexico.

I've always loved the theming in here and I adore Coco so I like it even more now.

Finding no line, it was time for a spin on what I affectionately call "Mexican Small World". I really enjoy this ride and would be sad to see it go, but I also kinda like the rumor of it turning into a Coco attraction so I'm torn.

As I entered the queue with not a single other person in it, it seems that 3 40-something-year-old men also decided to get in line. One of them either couldn't handle their alcohol or was really adamant about the ride and yelled to me, "Hey you cut us!" I turned around totally confused and offered them to go in front of us in the EMPTY line but his friend apologized and told us to ignore him.

Not sure what happened to them but by the time we boarded our boat, they weren't in line anymore. 🤷‍♀️I didn't really wanna be in a boat with them anyway lol.

We were ready to find a spot to watch Illuminations but had two stops to make along the way.

First up was La Cava del Tequila for my beloved drink:

La Cava Avocado
(Tequila Avión Blanco, Melon Liqueur, fresh Avocado, Agave Nectar and fresh Lime Juice served Frozen with Hibiscus Salt Rim 15.25). A little pricey but worth every penny to me!

I needed a snack to go with my deliciousness in a glass so I took my margarita to...

the outdoor margarita stand :rolleyes1 Soon enough I had:

Guacamole
(
topped with Mango and Pumpkin Seeds. Served with Fried Flour Chicharrón, Salsa Valentina and Lime 8.95)

Avocado with a side of avocado please!

giphy.gif

I love guacamole and this is one of my go-to snacks in Epcot. It's a huge portion for the price and I like that it's not your standard chips and guac. The salsa is nice and spicy and I love it! Mike doesn't like guacamole and even he eats some of this!

It was just about 8 pm at this point and even though Illuminations was an hour away, we were ready to sit, eat and drink and relax so we decided to find a spot. We looked at the FP+ area but there was a sizable line of people waiting to enter and they weren't letting people in yet so we relinquished the FP and just settled in along the fence not too far from the margarita stand.

I took some Epcot skyline shots:

But once I finished my margarita, the lack of sleep and 5 am flight set in and I hit a wall. This was going to be our last time seeing Illuminations and I wanted to enjoy it so I decided to remedy the situation the best way I know how...

giphy.gif

Yup, I used my backpack as a pillow and took a nice 30 minute nap right in the middle of Epcot.

Mike was kind enough not to photograph this but last August, my sister was not as kind.

epcot nap.png

I have to say- it did the trick. I woke up rather refreshed. :lmao:

It had gotten dark pretty quickly while I was power napping.

And soon enough it was time for the show! I went a little picture and video crazy because I was emotional for my last viewing. I tried to limit it to my favorite pictures though.

All too soon, the show was over and it was time to join the herds and make our way out of Epcot. I hope with the new fireworks song, they leave Promise playing as you leave the park because I love it and my heart won't be able to take it.

Who can resist nighttime Epcot shots?! (Not I apparently)

We made a stop at the camera store on the way out to swap Fuelrods and I spied this phone case

which I found adorable, but posted to Instagram about how it would never fit in my pocket. I have since been informed that the ears fold over the case (in case anyone other than I am pondering these things).

goodnight epcot.JPG

We got to the bus stop at 9:30 and waited 15 minutes for a bus.

Once back at CBR, we got off at the Old Port Royale stop so we could make a trip to the front desk to try to solve Mike's magicband issues. A very friendly (and seemingly helpful) CM assured us she'd fixed the issue so we thanked her and went on our way.

This area is even prettier at night:

We hadn't walked through this area earlier and I thought it was pretty nice with the gazebos and playground.

We got back to our room and lo and behold- the friendly CM had NOT solved the issue. Mike's magicband still didn't open the room. There was no chance I was leaving the room again so I voted we address it in the morning but Mike opted to make the trip back to the front desk.

I showered and settled into bed watching my favorite:

and was half asleep when Mike came back to the room and informed me that a CM and a manager had gotten his one magicband to work but that he had to go back in the morning with the others he had with him so they could manually fix those. He did say they promised us 3 anytime FPs for the trouble.

Honestly, I only have hazy memories of this and I was too close to being asleep to be remotely concerned with what he said at the time. :rotfl:

And with that, our arrival day FINALLY drew to a close!

Up next: Magic Kingdom and a 3rd front desk visit with a rude manager!

Mike is way to nice, I would have taken half a roll of pictures... I wouldn’t have instagrammed them, or posted them, but I 100% would take the photos!

Either way power nap for the win! Sometimes I feel like I want to crawl in the stroller and get pushed around!

I really need to try that avocado margarita or whatever it’s actually called, it always sounds so good and refreshing!

Well now I kinda want a dumb phone case....

I hate when photopass wants you to go for the hug shot lol. I feel like it highlights the gross, sticky mess I've inevitably turned into.
Hot, sweaty... I don't want hugs, I want air!
Our world tour took us to France next and I must've been feeling sick because I don't have a slush in hand. :confused3
Clearly because you already drank it, right?
:rotfl::rotfl:Thank you photopass CM- I'm still laughing!
:rotfl2: That's awesome!
Even though the wait time was posted at 20 minutes, there was only 2 other families in line. I love the details in the queue and usually take a ton of pictures, but today, I had no time!
Wow, not bad! We've had that kind of luck there once before in the late afternoon time. I swear they must not adjust the time below 20 minutes there! When this happened for us we were discussing whether we wanted to go in then or not and a CM overheard us and told us it would much shorter than 20 minutes.
:lmao:I eventually supplied that food seems to be the glue to the relationship.
You can't go wrong there!
I've always loved the theming in here and I adore Coco so I like it even more now.
::yes::
Finding no line, it was time for a spin on what I affectionately call "Mexican Small World".
I like it! I usually call it "It's a Small Mexico."
I really enjoy this ride and would be sad to see it go, but I also kinda like the rumor of it turning into a Coco attraction so I'm torn.
I feel you there. I like the Three Caballeros overlay, but Coco really would fit very well and probably tell a better story, really.
As I entered the queue with not a single other person in it, it seems that 3 40-something-year-old men also decided to get in line. One of them either couldn't handle their alcohol or was really adamant about the ride and yelled to me, "Hey you cut us!" Ah, the fun side effect of the joys of drinking around the world.
We looked at the FP+ area but there was a sizable line of people waiting to enter and they weren't letting people in yet so we relinquished the FP and just settled in along the fence not too far from the margarita stand.
Good call. I like watching from that Mexico/Norway area anyway. I can't think of the last time we watched it from another area.
Yup, I used my backpack as a pillow and took a nice 30 minute nap right in the middle of Epcot.

Mike was kind enough not to photograph this but last August, my sister was not as kind.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Do what you gotta do, I guess.
We got back to our room and lo and behold- the friendly CM had NOT solved the issue. Mike's magicband still didn't open the room.
:headache:
Stacey! DW hates the must dos show. I'd be content to walk into the room, turn it on and let it run non stop. DW instantly turned the channel every time. Didn't even get to watch it this year.
He did say they promised us 3 anytime FPs for the trouble.
Well, it stinks that you've had to deal with the problems, but that's a nice peace offering.
3rd front desk visit with a rude manager!
Oh no... :sad2:

You do such a good job of getting Photopass pictures! And yes, I can't believe how few people seemed to be in Epcot that day - such great pictures with so few people in them!

I also really like the Gran Fiesta Tour. I'd be a little sad if they changed the ride due to the nostalgia, but I think I'd be okay with it.

That avocado margarita is really good! I'd love to have another one or try another flavor. I'm also always happy to have tasty chips and guacamole!

Yup, I used my backpack as a pillow and took a nice 30 minute nap right in the middle of Epcot.

This is awesome! I'm impressed! :worship:

I'm glad you held out in order to see Illuminations. Illuminations is the only nighttime show I've seen consistently for years - I finally saw the MK fireworks and nighttime parade for the first time in 2012. (Now I wish I'd watched those earlier as I LOVED Wishes and now there is no nighttime parade!)

Who can resist nighttime Epcot shots?! (Not I apparently)

Not I, either. Although all the parks are lovely I think Epcot is especially pretty at night.

Poor Mike in having to deal with all those Magic Band issues! I'm glad he got one of them fixed, but I don't like the sound of you having to deal with a difficult manager the next day... :sad2:
