****December 2020 Thread****

Sign me up for December 2020! Hoping to travel December 6-10, with 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids). I haven't decided on resort yet, but I'm wanting to pick something we haven't done before. Price is a factor, so I'm thinking of either doing Pop Century or renting DVC points at one of the cheaper DVC properties. We stayed at Boardwalk Villas last year. I'm leaning toward Animal Kingdom Lodge in a standard view room, but Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are in the running. It will depend if we choose to spend a day at Disney Springs, or a full day at Animal Kingdom. We haven't chosen yet!

Anyway, I'm so excited to plan a Christmas-themed trip. We've only ever been in the summer!

Crowds are not bad at all until after the 18th / 19th of December (thereabouts). It's less crowded during the week than it is on the weekends, so we try to travel there and back on the weekends.

Does anyone know if you have to wait for 2021 packages if your check in date is 2020 but check out is 2021?

We will be taking our first trip to WDW December 25 2020 - January 2, 2021. Already planning. So excited !!!!!!
My family is planning on going about the same time and also looking at staying at all star movie resort. Are you guys just doing room only or a package?

You can book packages for 2021 in the summer of 2020. They open up in mid-June / July every year for the next year.

So packages for December 2020 opened up maybe 4-6 weeks ago. The same will happen for 2021.

You can book room only like 500 days in advance but if you want a package later (room, tickets, dining plan, etc), you'll have to call them and have it changed.

And it's based on check in date, so if you're checking in say December 29th of 2020, you can book it now.

I booked our trip earlier this week & I'm so excited! We will be there Dec 19-26. In one room at the Poly (our first time staying deluxe!!!), it will be me, DH, DD who will be 17 by then, DD who will be 22 & her boyfriend who will also be 22. In another room, celebrating their honeymoon, it will be our oldest DD & her husband (by then)! We plan to do some things all together, like a couple dinners, but the honeymooners will also have plenty of time to themselves. We have been several times, usually staying at moderates, but it will be a first trip for our future son-in-law & our middle DD's boyfriend. It is so far away but I am still really excited to finally have it booked!

Hello! I am joining this throw. We just booked for 12/23/20 - 12/29/20 with the bounceback offer. My brother and his kids will be joining us for their first trip. We will be staying at Gran Destino Tower at CSR.

We also booked the fd bb. Our dates are Dec. 20 - Jan. 2nd 2021.
It feels really weird typing 2021 down. Lol.

We booked our BB too! We'll be there 12/13-12/19 at Pop! Doing a trip with the in-laws, which will be....fun to plan, to say the least :rotfl:. But this is my first time at Pop, AND my first time going during Christmas, so I'm so excited!

I just went to Disney in August 2019 (staying in AKL), with my parents, my sister, and my 3 kids (now 10, 7, and 4) (my husband had to work, and he doesn't love Disney), but I think my in-laws would like to go with us too, so now I am seriously considering December 2020 (possibly 12/18 to 12/23) with them. We are not DVC members, though I would look into renting DVC this time - or I would even consider staying offsite. If we got free dining, I think we would stay onsite (we got free dining for this trip in August, and I did like it). A lot to start thinking about! :)

I have been in Dec. once before, 12/28 to 12/30 in 2015 - stayed in Wilderness Lodge. While we did do EMH and still got to a ton of rides on our one park day (MK) on that 12/29 I think it was - it was SUPER crowded starting in the early afternoon. If I go ahead, I'll consider the Christmas party (possibly, we are Jewish, so we don't need the special Christmas activities per se, but is it lower crowds??) and also going in early and getting out early, too.

I am trying to think of where would be a good place to stay, even if it's not pool weather. It was 80s when we went in Dec. 2015, but when we went in Jan. 2014 it was 50s.

This past trip we did Animal Kingdom After Hours and TSL EMM and I loved both of those. I heard good things about Fantasyland EMM which I didn't do, so I would also look into things like that in Dec., and possibly hope for lower crowds if it's not the week between Christmas and New Years, but not sure if that's a pipe dream.

UGH I think I messed up and I didn't know in advance that I wanted to do a bounceback offer - I think I thought I could only use it for next August and I knew I didn't want to then, but here I am planning a Dec. trip like you. I think I could have done it :( :( :(

Just booked for December 2020. I like to book early so I can make payments and have it completely paid off by the time we leave. We wanted Caribbean Beach, but the only rooms available were preferred and Pirate (I still don't understand how all other rooms could be sold out already), so we went with Port Orleans Riverside. Only 15 months to go! :rotfl2:

We are thinking of going mid week to midweek, Dec 3-9th. I'm torn between AOA, FW cabin or CB. WE did FW Cabin last year and it was so awesome, but I love trying new things. We have never been at Christmas.

Hi all!

Jumping in! Mom and I are staying from 12/23 and leaving 1/2/2021. We're staying 2 different hotels and are super excited.
Any cool things I can "surprise" Mom with for the Holidays?

It's official! Just booked our first adult-only trip to celebrate our 10-year anniversary and my husband's 40th! Beach Club December 1-6. I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Planning on a Dec 9-17 trip. Just booked GDT for 3 nights (hoping for better rate later) and waiting on my 11-month booking window to open up for the rest of our trip. I've gone May, June, and October and I've decided December is my favorite time to go so this will be our 4th December trip.
