Toronto or Buffalo in January?

Toronto!
Buffalo can get totally socked in.
We came back into Buffalo one January to find our car totally encapsulated in ice. Remote start was a godsend so within maybe 10 mins we got in , waited some more , then the wipers snapped off. Never again.
And be very choosy please with the airlines you fly .. if it’s super cheap, they’re saving that money somewhere!

Always Toronto. For the time wasted travelling to and from Buffalo, my husband can work to make up any extra we might pay for flights. We use Nexus to clear customs at Pearson—fifteen minutes to the gate upon entering the airport. Ten minute drive to the airport. Literally hours upon hours saved. I wouldn’t want to add to that with January weather conditions.

We've flown out of Buffalo many times in the winter and not had a problem. The biggest snow storm we hit was last December, the one time in over 5 years that we've flown out of Pearson. If it were me I'd still fly out of Buffalo.

Something else you may wish to consider is how many flight options an airline is offering to MCO. We fly Southwest (more than 50 flights and only 1 flight delay) and like that they offer many flights daily to MCO. Travelling in the winter can be tough from any city. I like an airline to have many options to reschedule us should something arise.

I'm from the Falls and 90% of the time fly out of Buffalo....However, you are closer to Pearson, so if you can find a good price on a flight...I would go with that.

My reasoning? The drive from Toronto to Niagara at any time of year anymore is insane!!! So unless you are driving down the day before and doing a park/sleep/fly deal, I wouldn't chance it all in the same day!

I just returned from a Toronto weekend with my girls, from Toronto to Grimsby it was stop/go....never going over 25km/hr....it was awful!! I won't be headed that way any time soon!

I'm also from the Falls, but I live in T.O. Still have family down there, so if I fly from BUF, I can stay at my sister's the night before. I agree about the drive from Toronto to the Falls, especially on holiday weekends. I've been making that drive at least 1 time per month, sometimes more for 40 years, and it gets worse every year. There's no pattern to it either. Weekdays, weekend mornings, nighttime, any time can be brutal. I do it because I have family there, so it's worth it.

I understand the traffic coming to Niagara. I am just amazed that it's been this bad on weekends in summer. What's in Niagara that people are heading to see?

We try to avoid Pearson at all cost. Last year we tried Porter direct from Billy Bishop (downtown Toronto) if you book ahead you might get a flight for aprox $400CAD return or $200 one way to Melbourne and rented a car to drive to WDW. Melbourne (aprox 1 hour drive to WDW) is a great little aiport without the hustle and bustle .
Great price. Did you get a direct flight or with a stop?

Casino? Lots of people enjoy the attractions, and I find it surprising how many couples just go often for a getaway. When I tell people at work I'm headed to the falls this weekend, they get all excited. Then I tell them I'll be spending my time driving my mum to Walmart or Winners and they deflate pretty quick. Life is what it is.
