Same here. I'm still excited for it and I'm not within driving distance either.
I honestly do not get the extreme aggravation that it's been announced and not opened. To the point that someone would not bother going now.
I don't see the big deal or why it's so "horrible" to know the preview is coming but not be able to book yet. It's not like it's taken any real effort on anyone's part to keep up to date on announcements or anything, has it?
Yes, we are in the group that has to plan our airfare. Eh, we'll book it as soon as it's announced. Even 2, 3 days out I've found good fares.
If one has issues with notice at work then well, what difference would it be if you didn't know the announcement was coming and you had to make the arrangements?
At least know you can at least alert people that you may want a day off during X period. With them just releasing it, you'd not have even gotten to do that.
I'm very glad you have the flexibility in your life to make a last minute trip. I do as well, but a lot of people don't. I know my sig other would never get away with telling work he "may" take a day off in a given time period, but that he's not sure.

I also don't think it's aggression, but frustration and disappointment. Mentally, there's a big difference between the two:
1. sitting day in and day out excitedly waiting for a drop that you're ready and waiting for, but then you aren't able to go or you miss it
2. randomly missing a link that you don't know is coming out.

It’s “horrible” for anyone in my boat because being in uk or Europe I can’t just get airfare few days out without it costing me a fortune so I’m now thinking do I just book opening week and brave what could and is likely to be carnage because I’m beyond hyped now to see it and waiting till my booked nov trip seems forever away.
And I’m fortunate to be able to work with my work to take a week in aug and also do a Halloween party at MK.
But I soon will need to make that call to get flights
I’m also starting to look like some sort of crazy every time my phone makes a noise. Just please end it Disney and drop the link

I think the option of #1 is better to be able to grab the link. #2 has a much greater chance of missing it totally. Because when you know you are paying attention, keeping alert to announcements. So to me, I see it as better to know. IF I wasn't looking for an announcement I'd not pay attention to most Blog posts or keep up to date on news. Guess thats why I can look at it as glass half full instead of glass half empty.
For your first part, not knowing wouldn't be any different to planning a trip, right? So he can't let them know he may need a day off. Would your not knowing it's coming make it better for him to get a day off? I wouldn't think so

I get that but I guess I don't see how not knowing about the upcoming preview would have been better. I mean, the main comment I read is "I just wish they'd have not announced it was coming at all if it was going to take this long" and what I'm wondering is, how is that better? How is knowing there's a preview on the horizon worse?

Knowing is worse because we all really want as AP’s to be able to go and for like 5 wks now have all become obsessed about checking this forum or checking for groupme notifications with said link and as I don’t get AP emails I won’t be getting the link like many others won’t dropped into our inbox.
So those relying on this forum and groupme are all fed up knowing we’ve given weeks of our life to something that even if when said link drops and we are lucky to get a preview spot due to logistics being work or travel couldn’t go thus makes it feel like we’ve totally wasted weeks putting time into it. All because Disney felt need to announce it with no plan of giving us dates or just sending out preview link

I’m in the fortunate position of having a trip already scheduled that coincides with the dates many believe will include the preview for APs and I have the right type of activated AP. For me, even though it’s been a long wait, I’m glad to know about it as I never get the emails from Disney and usually I find out about the previews long after the fact.

In your position I’d be fine knowing as well. Cause the trip is already booked with likely dates falling in it

I'm in the same boat. Originally was planning my trip for early September, but my sister made me move up my dates so I could be there with her family, so I moved them to August 17 months ago. Then when Galaxy's Edge opening was announced, I added a couple of days to the end of my trip. Their announcing the AP Previews threw a bit of a wrench in my planning because I was going to do a couple of tours this trip, but now don't want to book ahead in case that's the only day I can go to Galaxy's Edge. I have my MNSSHP and H2OGlow tickets already, and right now I'm waiting to see if I get an AP Preview so I can finish my planning!

Exactly. I can understand why other people are frustrated. We’d all like to go but can’t just change our plans on a dime. People who could have booked reasonably priced flights four weeks ago can’t necessarily do that next week or whenever this actually drops.

Because the way they did Pandora I think was ideal. No one was expecting it and it just showed up. We had about two months to actually plan, and we weren’t waiting in constant anticipation of a link going live. Even the TSL postview wasn’t as bad as this one is turning out to be. I think it was only 14 or 15 pages in when the link went live. This is almost 200 pages of anticipation of a link going live for a preview that Disney has announced. I ham lucky that I hav ether ability to flex my work schedule to fit my needs, but not everyone is lucky enough to have that option. This might seem like first world problems, but when it comes to a company such as Disney; they really screwed the pooch IMHO. I see them drop Passholder exclusives all the time with no warning and there is never as much guffaw as there is with this one preview. Maybe they are not happy that numbers in SWGE in DL appears to be down or not as busy, so they are stringing the WDW Passholder’s along. It’s just not a great PR thing from a business standpoint. Disney now appears to be intentionally excluding those who have to make travel plans and ensure time off work/school just to make this happen

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that had they not announced it and just dropped it, it would have had JUST as many complaints. Different complaints without question but still as many. Not knowing about the preview would not have been better. Is knowing in advance just as bad as not knowing in advance? Sure maybe it is.
But sorry, I can't see any instance where would have been better to be in the dark today, unaware that the announcement is coming any moment.

Also, with the rumour mill being what it is today where Disney is expressly shutting down rumours on DPB, we would have all been speculating, complaining that we wish they told us whether they are doing a preview or not...

I thought of one significant positive to knowing in advance.
Just look at here on this thread alone the numbers of AP holders who got on the ball and checked their communication preferences to find out that a change needed to be done on their end and have gotten that taken care of and are now getting emails. Not that everyone is going to get the email but those who did make a change wouldn't have known to do anything had they not known of the upcoming preview.
If they'd been blissfully in the dark then they'd still have accounts set to not get emails. Now they at least have a possibility for the email. Better than no possibility at all

The first post in this thread. Just got to the first page and you'll see the first post !
Thanks so much I appreciate the clarification - greatly! We had actually planned a trip with my sis in law 8/24-9/2 to AVOID SWGE opening, assuming that fall was after that. We try to go when less busy and crowded and right before school starts. We were likely to avoid HS altogether until this was announced. I love Star Wars, as does the whole family but I know that there are much more intense fans —- and we will be back — so we planned on waiting. With the preview being more of a “managed” crowd we would love to attempt! We’ve found it’s difficult for the kids on level 10 crowd days.

Again, it's the mental thing. Knowing 2 months in advance is different than 3 weeks. Announcing it and getting excited thinking they will release it in a couple days (therefore thinking you have time to request time off) only to learn you won't have time to request time off is more disappointing than not ever thinking you had a chance.

I don't think it's better the other way. I think that's why people are frustrated. You said you didn't understand why people were.

We're all frustrated, I think we can agree on that. While it would of course be ideal and amazing and super special to be there for the preview, remember that SWGE isn't going anywhere. It's not like this is a limited time land that's closing at the end of August.. and if it's anything like DL maybe it won't be as totally insane as we originally thought. This thread is stressing everyone out this morning and emotions are running wild. Let's all take a collective deep breath

Count me in the “If I can do the preview, great. If not, I’ll be back” crew. I’m going 8/15-8/18 in any case, regardless of the preview. Heck, this was supposed to be a “calm before the storm (...troopers)” trip anyway.

I’ve got a trip for F&W planned in November anyway, so if I don’t get to do the preview in August, I’ll definitely check the new land out then.

LOL. We had the same thoughts of going before SWGE opens, creating chaos, and the Skyliner ruins the international gateway at Epcot.
