Eh if we do, I never noticed. I’m a purist. Just popcorn
And nachos is a hard nope for sure. Eating something that messy in the dark is a sure fire way to wear it.
I've definitely gotten cheese on myself from eating pretzel bites at the movies. I will say that we are new to AMC theaters and I don't like their pretzel bites as much. They're more like bar food so they're super greasy. The pretzel bites at Marcus theaters are softer and weren't greasy at all.

Hi everyone!! :wave2: I’ve been on vacation for a week and a half and am hopelessly behind on posts. I’m trying to catch up by skipping 5 pages ahead but still not quite caught up.

We just got back from an 11 day and 2,000 mile road trip from San Francisco to Yosemite to Death Valley to Las Vegas to Big Sur then back up to San Francisco. We had a great time but I’m exhausted! I’ll write some reviews of the noteworthy hotels and just have to give a shout out to the Cirque Ka show at MGM. It was amazing! Seriously if you’re in Vegas anytime soon check it out. Even my very hard to impress 8 yo had her mouth wide open most of the time. It was just that good.

I also realized I hit the 3 month mark from my last Chase app (MDD in April) so I just pulled the trigger on CIP #2. Status line says 2 weeks so hopefully that will be good news.

Finished MSR on my Amex Delta Gold and about halfway to the $4K MSR on P2’s BPP. Next month I should be able to try jumping on the GrAAVy train but need to read up more on recent DPs without a mailer.

P2’s Barclay Aviator still hasn’t been verified and I asked DH to just call and cancel. We’ll see if that’s even possible. What a mess that’s been. I still can’t believe he never received a single notification via email or postal mail. Their customer service is a complete joke.

Question: can you open a consumer financial protection bureau complaint for a business card? If so is that even an advisable thing to do for a “business”?

I hope everyone is well and getting lots of approvals and positive data points. I was sad to miss out on all the prime day deals but I’m sure it saved me from a lot of useless purchases and number crunching.
It's been a week since I applied for the Barclay Aviator Business and haven't heard a peep. I was auto approved for the personal back in March. I want to apply for the Marriott Amex business, but I want to see what happens with this card first, I don't want more MSR then I can handle. If you have success canceling let us know. If this goes on for weeks then I'll want to do that.

If I went to the movies (mentioned above we almost always rent from the library) it is a large refillable popcorn that I get the refill and then munch on the next day. Yummm

I found an amazingly easy pretzel bite recipe so I make my own now. Make a large batch and freeze. Then just pop a few in the toaster oven to warm up and salt - tasty.

Good to know! DH and I meet my ILs in Williamsburg sometimes for dinner, so this would be a good option. We always go to Food for Thought, which has been good
We leave tomorrow for Va Beach so I’ll look into next time we are in the area. I went to Plaza Azteca in Glen Allen for dinner on Sat and it was very good too. They even had HH margaritas on Sat afternoon which was a nice surprise.

How soon after a card is approved through a referral, does a chase referral bonus post?

Yeah - so what we are looking for here (for @StephPlum i believe) is a DP of a Delta gift card triggering the Delta stmt credit in June or July as part of the signup bonus. I can’t imagine anything has changed there but you never know with Amex!

Sounds like the confusion is now cleared up but basically gift cards are fine for statement credits. But if you are flying or booking a flight even food on flight or the taxes for miles flights work. (My $11 fee on an award flight triggered the statement credit).

What is NOT working is buying gift cards for the annual flight/travel credit on MR cards. Unless this changes (and I am not optimistic it will) for me and Delta it has me already reevaluating the value of the cards. If I have to go through 10 hoops to try to use a credit the value of paying hundreds of dollars in fees is realistically not there. I can justify only up to a point...especially since a lot of the things that “count” for the credit are things like baggage fees which I have already with the Delta Amex cards.

Can you share this delicious recipe?

Dh worked really hard on it so I want to promote his hard work lol. I'm gonna post whenever a new vlog is uploaded on this thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/japan-vlog.3761005/

Great job! I don't watch people's videos much, but I liked the quality. Sound is now balanced nicely, if not on the quiet side. Liked the side-bar descriptions, like after security where you can't photo. And use of still photos with panning, zooming, etc. Speed up of walking scenes, music when on the move, and silence when all you need is the picture (like the meal).

Oh, and I've never really gotten a good look at Business or First ANA lounge chairs (except for from @calypso726 )

Eagerly waiting for next installment, Thanks!

I applied for the AmEx Bonbon card and the TD Aeroplan Visa and was instantly approved for both! The Visa card will be here in 3-5 business days; no word on when the AmEx will arrive. Now have to meet $4,000.00 MSR (of which almost $1,000.00 will be met with the hydro bill). Will have to be a bit more creative with the remainder (groceries, restaurants {gas is covered by dhs corporate card}) and who knows what else.

Hoping AmEx can't relate my US and Cdn accounts -- since I used my Cdn SIN (equivalent to a SSN) and my Cdn address I don't think they should be able to -- unless they track by the bonbon number, which of course is the same. I can be a lot slower with Cdn churning since I only spend a lot of time here in the summer (and visit about once a month during the remainder of the year).

I'll preface this by saying I'm not at all familiar with Canadian churning.

A quick google search tells me "[w]hile credit reporting companies like Experian have operations in multiple countries, the information they maintain in the individual nations cannot be transferred across national boundaries for several reasons." So those Canadian cards should have no effect on your churning activities here in the US.

But as for why I replied -- I do believe Amex and Chase tracks bonus eligibility by Marriott Bonvoy account number based on this DP. If you don’t put in your Marriott account information, you should be able to get around the restrictions on Chase and Amex cards.

The fine print on the Marriott Bonvoy Amex Canada application does say, “This offer is only available to new Marriott Bonvoy American Express Cardmembers (Cardmembers’). For current or former Marriott Bonvoy American Express Cardmembers or Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express Cardmembers, we may approve your application but you will not be eligible for the welcome bonus.” I don’t know if these cards refer only to the Canada versions, or if they will count the US-issued cards against you. Please let us know how it goes!

Ok, so Kroger owns Harris Teeter? Do they typically have the same deals as Kroger like Safeway and Albertson’s?

If I remember from when it happened no but it could depend on the deal. Does Harris Teeter have fuel points now? When I lived in NC prior to the Kroger buying them they didn't.

Do they still double coupons daily and have their super double and triple coupon events?

Do they sell Kroger generic brand? Or is it still HT or whatever it was called, I can't remember.

Fred Meyer has been part of Kroger for a long time but I know they still do some stuff on their own that isn't part of overall. But the fuel points on gc is always the same. But they used to do their ads Sunday to Saturday and just changed it last year to Wednesday to Tuesday. But Fred's is more than a grocery store, they have clothes, electronics, toys, fishing gear, a garden dept etc and I think it's the only chain like that that Kroger owns. The only reason you'd know they are attached with Kroger is that they sell Kroger products.

Wow thank you for the kind words! I’m gonna share your comments with Dh because I think he’ll appreciate it. Our second one will probably be our Harajuku day which was a fun day. I’ll post when we have it posted. It might not be for awhile because Dh does most of the editing. I might have to start taking that over since he works all day.
