Should be fine doing it right away. Takes a few days to link your accounts with trial deposits though. The shutdowns happened even when people didn’t transfer right away and used it for bill pay so I don’t think waiting would stop a shut down. I wouldn’t worry about a shut down just order backup cards now and don’t activate them until you need them lol.
Thank you - I just started the process to link the account. Dumb question, but by backup card do you mean where it says "Request Replacement Card"?

Looking to fly to Hawaii in 2021, family of 4. Hoping to go first class since it’s a long trip. What do you recommend is the best way to get there the cheapest? I already have Chase Reserve and use it a lot, as well as freedom unlimited to supplement. I also have citi AA (but found the miles very hard to use) and my husband has Delta Gold Amex. Willing to pay for main cabin and upgrade using points . Flying from NYC.

Where are you flying from?

Conversation starter: do you value simplicity at all? Do you think you would earn as many rewards with fewer cards but more focused spending or do you enjoy the chase of new bonuses? Do you value not having to log into several different accounts and remembering due dates or do you think this is just part of the trade-off?

It is annoying to manage so many accounts and it does get old but then I remember I’m pulling in 3-6k every month in value in doing this so I deal with it lol i don’t see myself getting to the point where the work isn’t worth it like I feel like even if SO and I each made 500k plus from our jobs I would still find it’s worth it if we each made a million? Two? Five? There is probably a point where I would stop. Idk what that is. Definitely would stop getting MOs I’d probably have a lot more organic spend though lol

I keep telling myself that one day I'm going to maximize earning categories on each card, but I'm almost two years into this and still haven't started doing that... lol. I am trying to hit the CF 5x this quarter, but I'm certain I won't max it. I don't mind different logins, etc. Honestly, I kind of like keeping up with that sort of stuff, so it's not a big deal to me.

Sorry flying from NYC
I've been doing a similar search for my family of 4 for 2020 but we're flying from BOS. I am having a really hard time finding a way to get us all there in first on points. It's just so many points! My thinking now is that maybe we'll fly first class to the west coast and then from there on SW since we have the companion pass, but even still I'm having difficulties finding routes that might work. I found a first class fare on the Hawaiian Airlines website for about 2,000 and when I went to search for it on the UR portal, the price was closer to $7000 for the same flight. Maybe from NYC it will be easier since you have 3 major airports you can be looking to fly out of.

You may have already looked ...but is there a later flight closer to yours that you could switch your Mom too

There are no non-stop flights in the evening anymore for her itinerary. It was an 8:40pm non-stop flight. The other closest non-stop flight timewise for her is the one SW rebooked her on at 2pm. So now she'll have to take DME at 11am instead of 5pm to the airport. I still can't believe they don't have any other non-stop flights after 2pm that day for her.

My flight is still around 8:30pm. There is a 2:30ish flight that I could switch to so we could go to the airport with my mom at the same time....but I really really want to spend more time at Disney!

My Aspire link is showing updated offer for the Surpass. I went for that over business because he's only 2/24 and it's identical to the Biz, but lower spend.

Instant approval and here I was excited to get a card number right away, and "systems are not responding". They can't provide card number and credit limit right now so awarding a $60 statement credit instead. I'll take it and be happy, but I needed to place an order yesterday and it would have been great to put on Amex.

Hope you got a screenshot or other proof of that $60 offer.

Simplicity would be great, but that wouldn't get me as many points. I know that with the amount of organic spend I have I would never be able to earn as many points as I can through sign up bonuses. I've only added banks beside Chase in the last few months and it is more work with all the different logins, but to me it's worth it!

Just want to pop in and give a few DPs, in case they're helpful to anyone. I haven't really been following along, mostly skimming here and there, so hopefully this isn't too redundant.

1. 20% off Amazon using 1 MR - I was able to max out with Safeway gc ($250). I shop there anyway, so I wouldn't mind being stuck with them.
2. Took Safeway gc and bought Happy gc (there was a $7 off $50 coupon last week?) and Disney gc. It appears POS is not hard coded to disallow gc to gc, but there was 1 store where I saw "approved" on the screen but the cashier caught that I used a gc for payment and cancelled the whole transaction. So its definitely YMMV.
3. Took Happy gc to BBB and bought Disney gc. This is very YMMV. I've had trouble with my BBB before, but thought I'd give it another go since I had to go there to use my Amex offer $5 off $25.

All in all, a successful run $200 spent for $250 Disney gc and $14 remaining for Safeway groceries.

Also, have been seeing all the reports of issues with self-referral. I'm in P1 mode, and looking to get both Hilton Biz and CIP in Aug/Sept. Hoping to work off my 4 MSRs by late Aug. If anyone want to trade links, PM me.

Okay looking to hit my spend on Citi #2. So can I buy the simon's cards and use them to load at Walmart? I was able to do $1k w/ the Staples Visa. Also I see that Staples will have fee free MC next week. Can I use them to load at Walmart? Between these and my natural spending, I'd like to knock out the rest of the spend I need to do. Also what's the limit on your serve account for the month? $5k? So if I've already loaded and transferred $1k I can only do $4k more, right?

HELP!!

As soon as I knock this out, I'm going to try for the CIP via the mailers I've gotten, and then the new Hilton Biz offer.
