The September 2019 Trip Reports Thread

I didn't see a September thread yet, so I figured I'd start one up. I almost feel silly because were are only going to be there for 4 days, but this past Tuesday was our 60 day mark and FastPasses are booked.

This almost feels like a cheating trip. We are flying in, taking DME to the Fort and meeting up with our friends in their MH. It is their first trip to the Fort and they are meeting their son, d-i-l and DGC (DGD- 8, DGS- 5) who will be in a cabin.

We fly in on Saturday, September 7th and fly home on Tuesday September 10th evening. We bought 3 day hopper tickets and, for the first time, MNSSHP tickets for Sunday night. I couldn't justify 4 day tickets, but I would love to have the option to go to a park any time I wanted.

Here are our plans as of now:

Saturday- Arrive to the Fort 5-6pm, find our friends MH and head to MK to see HEA. Watching the fireworks in front of the castle is a long standing family tradition and due to the Halloween party at MK on Sunday, really limits our options to see HEA without spending the whole trip at MK.

Sunday- I had originally planned on going to EPCOT, but DW said she would rather do AK and try to ride Slinky Dog Dash since it broke down about 30 ft before we could get on last Fall. That means I'm going to attempt the StarWars madness at HS... a week after it opens. We also have MNSSHP tickets this night so I decided AK would be a good place to start the day. AK has EMH this morning. I don't think I'll attempt rope drop (7am). I tried getting a FP for FoP, but the only ones left were evening times when I'll be at the Halloween party. We have EE FPs in the morning. I think EE is one of the best roller coasters on the property. I like just wandering around AK. I love the atmosphere there. I'll try stalking MDE for a FoP FP earlier in the day. Sometime after 4, we'll head over to MK for the party. I'm excited to see the Halloween fireworks show. I watched it the last 2 years from the Contemporary roof, but never in the park with the proper perspective.

Monday- I'll probably regret this, but we have an ADR at O'Hanna at 0740. The kids (and Ian) will love breakfast with Lilo, Stitch, Minnie and Mickey. I tried changing it to later since we'll probably be at the Halloween party pretty late, but no options for a party of 9. After breakfast, we'll probably head back to the Fort for a while. We have SDD FPs at 8:15pm. I'll keep an eye on MDE to see how crazy the crowds are at HS before I decide if/when to head over. I may go to EPCOT during the day and take the boat over to HS later in the day.

Tuesday- This will be a DS and hang at the Fort day. We will have used our 3 day tickets in the parks already and seen what we wanted this trip. Our friends want to do TE for a meal. If we don't do dinner on our arrival day, before heading to MK, this morning for breakfast will be our only other chance. I don't have an ADR yet, but I'll probably try getting one. Our flight home is at 5:40pm, so I'm guessing DME will pick us up around 2 or so.

This will be a quick, busy trip, but SO worth it. I cashed in Disney Visa points for the airfare, MNSSHP tickets and the park tickets, so it is essentially a "free" trip.

We did the same thing in December for M's birthday, just 4 days there and staying on our DVC points. It was a great little trip. I hope you have a blast on your trip!

So no trailer to prep, no truck to drive for hours (sounds like you're leaving the driving to the pilots and Magical Express). And using points for it all - guess you can afford some souvenirs if you so choose.

Should be relaxing for you. Hope the weather and crowds cooperate.

Oh and you're good about sharing pix so I know we'll get some at some point.

Have fun! ED

Awe. Just going to miss you. Are you going to chance heading to HS?

Let me know how it is the week you are there. We might change up plans if it is nuts.

We are going to attempt it. Our son is a Star Wars fan and our daughter is a Toy Story fan. We booked this stay at the end of last year. I had a serious panic attack when SWGE was announced. I’ll let you know what we encounter. We aren’t doing HS until the end of our trip.

I arrive the same day! We'll be setting up in one of the preferred loops! I'm doing MNSSHP on Sunday as well. We are also doing a day off on Tuesday so I'll be doing some looping. I'd love to meet you!

I'm so so so so excited to be going back to the Fort! This time I'm pulling my own trailer down from Canada! My friend and I are there from the 7-15 then off to Nashville for a couple days before heading home. After the let down at Disneyland last summer, I'm excited to be coming Home!

Cindygirl,

We always love meeting other DISers. I'll post what site our friends get. They booked a Full site, so I assume we will be up in the 1600-1900 loops. Although they have linked reservations with her son who will be in a cabin, so maybe 2100.

30 days from now... WE'LL BE THERE!

Woo-hoo! Getting close! We’re leaving sept 1, arriving the 3rd (stay 2 days on the way down from NY.) Camper is 75% packed and I’m getting antsy to leave already.Tried to talk DH into leaving this weekend and spending an extra 2 weeks, but you know... work. 😂

KCP,

Getting close. We head home 4 weeks from today. >:( I started to bump this and add something about our trip, but I don't have anything to add. Our friends got their tickets last week and have a couple of FPs booked. ADRs are hard to find now, likely due to free dining. I didn't grab one for TE, but you can usually get one of those day before or same day.

We just returned last week from St Thomas and I still have a business trip to Wisconsin the last week of August (and a mini-Midwest DIS meet with Bjschil and Tigger92662), so our September fast trip still feels like a long way off. Reality is, we will be there in 25 days!

I passed on any of the StarWars Galaxy Edge things that opened up recently. I'll be at HS on the 9th, so I'll see how much of a zoo things are. Who knows, we may get the chance to wander around with a few driods. They probably won't be the ones we're looking for... :-)

St Thomas is amazing - I'd love to hear about it if you feel like telling us even though it's not disney related. We're not big on Star Wars either, so no excitement there for us. We're avoiding HS this trip.

We were't doing parks this trip, but somehow it ended up different... I'm going with oldest DD to Epcot and DH is going with 2 of the other older kids to AK, then doing MNSSHP. It's SO hard finding costumes that are not only cool enough for FL summer, but also won't break the bank and can be worn on rides. I think I've got most of them done. Still need to make one more shirt and wait for our oldest son to decide. He may just end up going as himself. Haha! Trying to pack light this time too. No need for 7+ days of clothing when we do wash every day. And same goes for food - we don't have to pack for the entire 2 weeks since we end up going to Publix one of the first few days anyway. Why is it so hard not to bring everything and a kitchen sink? ;)

As far as ADRs go, we have one for Ohana breakfast, one for TE brunch (our favorite!) and then I'm taking our oldest to Hoop De Doo for his birthday while DH watches the kiddos. He's usually the one who gets to go do fun things like that so I'm super excited!

Our magic bands arrived a few weeks ago after I *finally* managed to score a couple of the fancier bands. So they're all packed and ready to go! I don't think there's anything more to do until we do our final packing! We leave on a Sunday morning this time, so at least we have the day before to finish that up.

We just scored a last minute ressie for Labor Day weekend. I know it's crazy to decide to go the same weekend that SWGE opens but we will probably skip DHS this time and avoid that madness.

I blame my DH, when we bought the camper he said we have to use it at least every month. We haven't gone anywhere since July. I didn't expect to find an opening but luck was in my favor. We are fortunate to live in NW Florida so the drive isn't too bad.

Our plan is Epcot & AK (pick up the new AP magnets) and MK at night. Kids & I love taking the boat over and hanging in Tomorrowland while the Fireworks are going off. We can usually ride Buzz Lightyear 3x during the show. DS maxed his score out a few months ago so now we all try to do the same.

We will be rolling into the Fort on Sept 1 (leaving on Sept 7), so maybe we will see you there.

Last minute trips are so fun! Wish we lived close enough to go a few times a year. 24+ hours pulling a very large camper (plus 8 kids) isn't DH's idea of fun. Haha!
