Priceline Express Deals

I couldn't resist - ended up pulling the trigger on the Express Deal I found for 8/26-8/30 and it WAS the Wyndham Garden LBV! I was going to hold off a little longer but there is a promo code for booking on the app - use code SUMMER20 to get $20 off a booking of $100 or more, it;s only good on the app.

I also used my Ebates/Rakuten app to link to the PL app, so I'll be getting an additional 4% back on the reservation too!

All told, thanks to Priceline and this thread we will be staying for 8 nights/9 days for under $460 total!

Did you include the resort fee in your total? I think Wyndham Garden charges a resort fee of $25/night plus tax, so $28.13/night.

I really wish there were some way around the fees, or at least a way to bundle them into the total so they can be included when calculating percentage cash back deals or $ off on minimum booking totals.

Yes that's including the resort fee :) I won't get the Ebates/Rakuten cash back on the resort fee but I got an insane deal on Priceline for All Star Music on black friday (plus a 12% ebates rebate).

RetailMeNot still has the 8% discount code - it expires on the 15th.

Details: Limited time 8% get off select Pay Now hotels and all Express Deal hotels. Valid on 3 star hotels with minimum 2-night stay. Travel anytime. Not combinable with any other offers or cash back.

Question for anyone out there who's booked an AoA family suite as an Express Deal: what was your suite's theme? I'm curious if there's a tendency for it to be Cars vs. Lion King (I'm assuming no Nemo).

I am looking at booking the Dolphin and noticed that it doesn't have a bed selection (sometime I see King or Double Bed Options, this time nothing)... does anyone know what the default room type is between the two? I'd hate to show up and end up in a King for the three of us.

I havent seen 3 star in a long time for PLE. I've seen plenty of HW but the regular rates are artificially inflated.

Anecdotally it seems there are many more double/double rooms than kings - we have asked for a king several times and they haven’t been able to accommodate us unless we specifically booked that room type (which has always been an extra cost, in my experience)

I also hadn't seen a 3 star WDW PLE for quite a while, so I was pleasantly surprised that there's a listing that's popped up a couple times this week for dates in September (I posted a screenshot in this thread a few days ago). Although not guaranteed, of course, it seems likely to be an AoA family suite with a decent discount off the rack rate. Still not a good enough deal for me to drop my current WDW reservation for my September trip, but I'm keeping an eye on it just in case! :-)

ETA: Now that I think about it, I believe some people also reported snagging POP PLE deals recently for last-minute summer stays, although I haven't seen that for September.

Hotwire has a 3-star with airport shuttle for $176/night 8/18-20. Location distances are consistent with All-Stars Music. Has anyone booked a blind deal (Hotwire or Priceline) for an All Star? Listings a few months back had me questioning whether these expensive 3-stars were really family suites.

For this deal, my money is on All Star Music family suites. The 4.1 rating is consistent with ASMusic and ASMovies. AS Movies is listed at a lower price for revealed bookings on those dates, and it would be odd for an opaque booking to be more expensive than a revealed booking. AS Sports is also listed at a lower price on the revealed booking, and is less likely because it gets a 4.2 rating. AS Music's revealed booking only shows availability for Family Suites.

It's not AoA, which gets a 4.3 rating. Pop is unlikely, as it's not available as a revealed booking, and I think Pop, like AS Sports gets a 4.2 rating. The moderates are all 3.5 stars, so those are out, too.

I've seen some of those expensive bookings for different dates, and I think sometimes they were suites and sometimes they were just more expensive rooms. More sought-after times, and preferred room categories driving up the base price.

Anyway, if you are looking for a suite, I think you've found one for these dates.

I would be EXTREMELY skeptical of any booking by Hotwire. Hotwire artificially inflates standard room rates to well above the "rack rate". The only recourse a customer has is to call them on their guarantee, in which case they will refund you the difference, and only if the room is still available through other sites or Disney.....but you still do not get to cancel. In my opinion Hotwire is a fraudulent company. I will only book Priceline Express, after much research.

And FYI there is a listing for $174 on the mobile app for those dates that says "Last person got Pop Century"

I used Hotwire last year for AKL - $221 a night. Worked out beautifully and was surprised when we had an awesome savannah view in our “standard” room!

In this context, I'm not concerned about what the actual rack rate is vs what Hotwire say the comparison rate is. I'm just using the clues Hotwire provides to figure out one resort from another in blind bookings. Before actually booking a hotel, I do my homework and compare prices on the hotel's own site as well as other discount sites like Expedia.

I booked two resorts for my last Orlando trip (Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek and Galleria Palms) through Hotwire's blind bookings. Both transactions went smoothly, and both times I knew exactly what I was getting from comparing the ratings, amenities, etc. in the revealed bookings. Hotwire's prices were lower than anything I found anywhere else.

Personally, I'm much more comfortable with Hotwire than Priceline, primarily because I can usually figure out which resort is being offered on Hotwire, and find Priceline provides fewer clues. I also sometimes need a room for more than 2 people.

I've been on Hotwire where it says "last person got X hotel," but then states the hotel is guaranteed to be A, B, C, or D, with no option for X. So while the "last person got" can be a helpful feature, it's not a dead giveaway.

Now, I'm not saying the listing you see is NOT Pop. The bookings can come and go quickly, and the booking I saw earlier today might be gone, and another similar booking is in its place. It happens. But based on what was on Hotwire's site when I checked those dates, I'm pretty sure I was looking at AS Music family suites.
