Rise of The Resistance Opening?

You have to believe there will be EMH through the new year.

Too busy of a time not to have them

Hopefully they stay open late and not just open early. It’s the one park that rarely budges from its normal 9pm closing times even during Christmas and New Years.

I am doing Dec 22-Jan 1. I’ve been going back and forth on staying club level or not. I can handle the normal Christmas and NYE crowds not sure what to expect this year now.
I'd expect a lot of people to be switching their dates in the october\november months to early december since its so close. Looks like the best time to go to WDW this year is that range. at least I am hoping! I am not a starwars guy so this doesn't effect me of it opening when I am not there.

So it opens 2 days prior to my arrival date, not sure if that's good or not??? At least the other parks will be less crowded, maybe?

I am there that entire week and the 5th is the day on my schedule that I planned to be there.

I have very MIXED feeling right now. LOL

There is no way they could overlook that, especially Disney, this rumor seems like a bad one. Seems like everyone is just putting rumors out there. Would love to hear an update though, they've been silent on this.
There has been so many rumors. I think it’s more extensive than that if it’s causing more or less a five to six month delay.

You have to take into consideration that they had split crews working on both lands, and that FL was originally speculated to be 6 months behind. It's entirely plausible that they diverted manpower towards the end of CA's construction to speed up FL to get to only 3 months behind, and as a result they haven't been working on both RoR rides simultaneously.

I wonder that too
I wonder if by announcing this there will be cancellations for Sept-Nov as some guests want to just wait until Dev/Jan (or beyond) to experience the WHOLE land .. and after all the hype dies down.

I bought my AP in hopes to catch the opening of SWGE ..and I am (sorta) ... I know if my AP didnt end in early November, I would definitely consider moving my trip from mid-October to Early December.

I didn't see this, but wouldn't surprise me. I do wonder if this was a fixed-price contract and when the delays became apparent it became a labor leverage issue.
I personally think they have made WDW all hands on deck because they know by opening this before christmas and near the christmas holiday, they will draw even more people into these already extremely packed parks during that time. Makes complete sense from a business side, they know that there will be way more people willing to come to WDW then DL during the holidays so why not get this up and going. Especially since supposedly the DL version is not going as planned for them, I may be wrong but it makes sense.

Guess we will know once we start seeing some hard reservations pop up all at once during this time period! And if I was into StarWars, I would 100% be considering moving my dates to early December. But those crowds are probably going to be insane!

We will be there, already paid for and planned so OH WELL! Luckily (maybe) we arent Star Wars people and do not plan on visiting. I dont even know if that will make any difference....I'm still happy to be going

The interesting thing about the Dec. 5th date is there has been little to no availability for hotels around that time for quite a while. I wonder how that will play out.

I love the wild speculation on crowd levels!

Well the first 2 weeks of Dec are HUGE DVC weeks no matter what. So add SWGE and ROTR into that and the Holiday crowds, YES there will be some insane crowds in December

Same I arrive 12/6 evening and I can’t decide if I’m happy or terrified lol
My gut reaction is to cancel this year's trip and reschedule for December 2020. I've been trying to decide which trip to cancel - a Disney cruise in late October or my December WDW trip. Final payment on the cruise is coming up in the next couple of weeks. This announcement may have made my decision for me.

I was leaning towards canceling the WDW trip as it appears that Epcot will be a construction zone in December.

Epcot won’t be much better in December 2020 either though.
