Budget-related question: fluoride treatments for adult teeth, yes or no? I went to a new dentist today and the hygienist recommended it. Said insurance likely won't cover it and it's $40. I'm pretty sure DH and I have had them in the past but our most recent ex-dentist didn't recommend (either that or we said no at first and weren't asked again).

They recommend it for me because I grew up on well water and still have a well. I paid the $35 to do it one time and it was so disgusting I was literally gagging on the way home from the dentist. I had to brush it off immediately when I got home and it ruined my toothbrush!

My dh is going to Boca Raton for his new job training and I am going too!!!! (as well as our ds8...all other kids are taken care of other places) So, I need some hotel recs. Dh is at an embassy suites in Boca for his training. My ds and I will fly in on Thursday am, check out of the embassy suites on Friday and then we need another hotel for Friday and SAturday. Flying home Sunday night. We'd love to stay on the beach and I do have two BonBon FN's I could use (35k). Any recs from anyone who knows the area? @calypso726 maybe :)

We're flying into FLL and out of MCO so we could move north up the coast if that helps.

Sorry - just saw this. What is your price range? The Boca Raton Resort is very nice (Hilton property). The beach side (Beach Club) is on the Atlantic and tends to be a bit more expensive, but is nicer. The remaining buildings are on the intercoastal side (there is a free shuttle to the Beach Club). The buildings on the intercoastal side are a bit older, but have the main pool, huge grounds, a Serendipity ice cream shop and tons of people! I've stayed in the tower on the main side and it's a bit dated (wouldn't stay there again) and in the Yacht Club rooms which are nicer. I've been to the Beach Club many, many times (for parties / functions, but never stayed overnight) and it's really nice, food is incredible too.

If this out of your price range, there is the Seagate Hotel in Delray Beach, across the A1A from the beach (short walk), which may be a little less expensive. I've never stayed here, but I've been to many functions at the Seagate Beach Club and can vouch that they serve amazing food and the service is great. A LOT of shops and restaurants on Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach, which are walkable from the Seagate Hotel (I LOVE Atlantic Avenue and I'm sure you would as well!).

If you want to stay in Boca, the Embassy (just off the 95) where your dh is staying is nice. We put dh's employees up there when they are in town and for the annual holiday party. Staff there are quite nice too and I believe the breakfast is free and quite good (from what I hear). It's about 3 miles from the beach (almost a straight drive from the hotel). No shops or restaurants within walking distance though.

If you have a Hyatt certificate there is a Hyatt in Delray Beach (a walk to Atlantic Avenue but maybe a bit too far from the beach to walk), which appears nice (I've been to a function here and the lobby / conference area is nice).

I think there is a Marriott across from the beach in Delray, but I've never been here and don't know anything about it, other than the location is perfect -- across the road from the beach and walkable to Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach.

I can't think of any other hotels in close proximity to the beach in either Boca or Delray. If you let me know what other properties you are looking at I might be able to help.

Be prepared for the heat -- it's intense. If you are heading to the beach or pool be sure and pack your sunscreen.

If you are looking for shopping recommendations let me know! Lots of great shopping in Boca Raton!

I thought this was dependent on whether you had well water or not? I know DS's ex public school did fluoride treatments since so many of us are on well water. (Although we are on well water and DS never did them at school. His new dentist did a fluoride treatment though but not for DH and I.) $40 for them to put some paste quickly on your teeth seems expensive.

OK, I have DS folding towels but they aren't quite "right", do I re-fold later...

The OCD in me would refold them, but hidden where he couldn't see me. I don't want to stifle their trying but it would literally nag at me till they were right. I have loosened up about the way the dishwasher is load, now I don't care as long as they come out clean. But it is like a Tetris challenge to me to see if I can fit everything in.

DH's UR Referral Bonus of 20,000 points just posted. Yeah!!

Thought I would try again with AMEX - tried getting DH the Delta Business. Still got the stupid pop up.

I just got CIP# 3 for Tuition. Thinking of maybe referring DS20 for this. He has another Chase Card from January. I know Wendow's DD got approved for the CIP. Figured I might as well try. He can always cash out the points to use for spending money in college or make some car payments while in college. Just waiting on payment to post for card that he is AU on so it will basically only show $ owed on his car.

Guys, I just successfully did my first Serve load with a VGC!! No problems at all and cashier didn’t ask any questions. I almost panicked for a second when the register didn’t seem to pick up the VGC, but either I just scanned it too fast at first or too soon or something. The only thing the cashier asked me was how I wanted to load it. I have another $200 to do. Really excited that this might pan out! I don’t know that I’ll do a ton with it as I’ll probably still wait to look for fee free deals or gas points at Kroger to offset the fee, but I’m excited about the prospect!

As the daughter of a Dentist, skip it. I do it for my kids but as an adult, unless you have some issues with getting cavities often you probably don't need it.

I went to the same high school as Steve Jobs. But he was there before I was even born, lol. So I don't know if that counts.

DS seemed a little impressed when I told him though. 🤣
In recent news, Allie Long from the women’s soccer team went to my high school. She’s a year younger than my younger sister.

Also, Edie Falco and Patti Lupone, but they are way older than me.

Also the drama teacher when I was in high school had been a storm trooper in the original Star Wars movie lol.

@wendow My in-laws really like that Boca Beach club too. Also, I’ve seen a beachfront doubletree in north reddington in my searches.

I found a great Marriott vacation club on the beach that was in that area too, but can’t remember the name. Seems like it was a cat 5, but who knows after the changes.

Correction, not reddington, Deerfield beach.

A former women's team member attended the high school where we live now and my kids attended. She was on the last World Cup winning team. The school also has produced a current Chicago Blackhawk, a pro baseball player who has been bouncing around different major league teams, a space shuttle astronaut, and Jackie Evancho from America's Got Talent.

Quoting myself to say it is Marriott ocean pointe on singer island and is still a cat 5.

Oh you pine Richland folks think you’re so awesome :lmao:

(I actually enjoy rooting for Pine Richland - especially since they’ve been a Heinz a bunch of the times we have been there too)

Catching up after our 5 day trip to Arizona largely funded by points. Flew back overnight - so surviving (barely) on about 1 hours sketchy sleep.

I'm not into detailed reviews, but if anyone is thinking of heading to Scottsdale/Phoenix area, I would recommend the Westin Kierland Resort - especially if you have kids. We actually stayed at the Villas in a large 1 bedroom apartment - it is the timeshare neighbor of the Resort and you can use all the resort facilities - about 10 minutes to walk between the two sections or use the free shuttle bus. The main resort pool complex has a pool and lazy river - I emphasize the word lazy - very slow, and sometimes relaxing, but it does get overcrowded. They also had a flowrider, tennis courts, golf course and driving range. The Villas side had a recreation pool and an adults only pool. Both these villas pools saw a lot less crowding than the the main resort. There is also an OK water slide each location. There are hourly fun activities for the kiddos - and yes, even the 50 year old kiddos can participate in some of them. The staff and service were great - and the poolside lunch options were quite reasonably priced for this type of resort - though the drinks were a little pricey. We didn't eat dinner at the resort so can't comment on the other restaurants. There are plenty of shopping and restaurant options nearby - no car necessary. I think the villas offer a great value, as you get the extra space in the room, plus all the benefits of the main resort, but don't have to pay the resort charge or parking.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, and would happily return if we found ourselves in the area again.

That’s a lot. Lol. I forgot we have a current major league ball player. Rob Scahill was on the White Sox briefly and is currently a free agent. His dad was a young gym teacher when I was in HS and married one of my classmates. She was later a teacher at one of our local schools as well.

Ashley Darby, from the Real Housewives of Potomac,’s sister went to DS’s elementary school. Ashley drove up in red sports car that Michael had given to her for birthday for her sister’s 5th grade graduation. (Of course, she was very late, missed the entire ceremony and parked totally where she was not supposed to.)

Oh, and DS’s 7th grade science teacher’s dad and been on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and won $250k. He said had his dad continued on, he would have gotten the next question correct.

Awesome! As you get more comfortable you may want to consider doing more than one card at a time. I typically ask to load my card and SOs card so 2 giftcards per cashier. They can be loaded at the registers, garden center, electronics section (hit or miss for me) and the money center ( this location scares me since I had issues with MOs) I try and hit at least two locations per visit so four cards.

Chase support bonuses go pending every Tuesday around 6 pm EST, provided the card you supported was approved about a week prior (if not, then you'll need to wait for the next round of support bonuses to go pending the following Tuesday).

Chase SUBs don't have a specific day or time when they go pending. Usually, you'll see the Chase SUB show up as pending 5-7 days, sometimes longer, after the charge that put you past MSR posts.

Hope your SUB shows up soon!
And just as @Lain indicated, support bonuses went pending. Dude knows his stuff, haha.

If yours didn’t go pending yet; no harm in checking back later tonight or tomorrow morning. Sometimes they are late and I don’t know that they all process at the same tome.
