As others mentioned, check the statements around your anniversary. My anniversary was a couple days after statement close so I would get my anniversary points the following month. In addition to that, if you had a negative balance of points the anniversary points would be net of that. But that seems like a huge negative so probably just need to check some other statements.

I have it. I got it and just used 45k points for 5 days at the beach (since the 4th reward night is free). I'd say it's totally worth it. I think I get a free night a year too. Plus Platinum has gotten me the presidential suite once. Granted it was at a Holiday Inn Express, but did not expect it, LOL
 
Since I only had 1 day to churn the Staples offer, I only took on $1k. 1- It's nice to know my Staples doesn't care how many I buy. I bought 2 in the first trip, 3 in the second. 2- It's nice to know the cashiers at Walmart know exactly what I wanted to do and didn't question me at all. 3- I just linked my bank account to Serve. I decided to link my Biz acct. I've had that acct w/ Chase for 13 years, and I don't foresee having to worry about it being shutdown at all. But now I'm excited to do more of this since it was so easy.

I told my sister and she's like you should write a blog about this. Silly sister, they are already out there. My sister "plays" the game w/ the Amex Plat and SPG Amex (well Bonvoy) but that was a far as she went into. And they only have the Amex Plat because my BIL thought he was a baller getting approved for it. Granted they've had it like 7 years, maybe you had to be more of one then, LOL.

I'd love to knock out the spend on this AA Citi #2, and see if that CIP mailer helps me by-pass the 5/24 (I go under 11/19). Did I read some are checking to see if they got the bonus by "spending" the amount (on something returnable) and seeing if the points post, then quickly spending the next month? I'm at $1200 of the $5 I need to spend. I'd love to knock it out in a month, LOL.

I was one of the CIP3 approvals a few days back. I had 99 days between mine (and a few weeks after reducing my credit limited) and should have done it a week earlier. Good luck on a quick approval!
 
If ILs are booking a special 'hospital' rate at a Hilton, direct through the hotel, does that cause any issues with earning points or nights? Or does it still count the same like the AAA rate, AARP, etc.

@snugglebug I second this. It stinks because you don’t get any URs for the purchase but you will lose them for the return. I waited probably a month before I cancelled just so it didn’t look so intentional. Probably not necessary, but that’s what I did.

Oh my goodness, what an adventure you guys have had. Awesome on the upgrade but yuck on the no AC. I wouldn't have been able to sleep either. British Air really needs to fix their IT problems. This is the 3 or 4th time in the past couple of years that I can think of where they've had major issues. *so* glad you guys were able to get out all in upper class even if it was on the not as impressive plane. Hopefully you are reading this from back at home all nice and snug in your own bed!

No, those 3k points have no impact. So I would wait for the 3k bonus to post since you are so close, then close the account to avoid the AF and then in Sept apply for the new card.

But if you are interested in the CP then the strategy might be different depending on if you want the CP for the remainder of 2019 and all of 2020 or the CP makes better sense for the majority of 2020 and all of 2021.
