DVC Members cruise Oct 5-12 2019 to Bermuda/Boston!!!

We are sailing this Member Cruise also (2nd DVC cruise) and look forward to meeting you all. We are from Louisiana and will be flying in the day before. Any suggestions on where to stay, i.e., close to airport or close to port, are greatly appreciated. We will probably fly into LaGuardia. First time to Bermuda also!

We are staying near Times Square both before and after the cruise. The area around LGA doesn't seem to offer much from what we've seen driving by and there aren't any hotels close enough to walk to the port that I found. Times Square should only be ~$10 Uber ride to the port in the morning. Lots of choices of places to stay near Times Square and lots to see and do. I was able to use my Marriott MIies for our pre-cruise night so that really helped! We're only staying one night afterward so not much time for sightseeing but definitely seeing Frozen!

Well, our flight choices out of Shreveport were rather limited so we are arriving late Friday night and will take a shuttle to a nearby hotel then Uber to the Port in the morning. No time for sight seeing or much of anything by the time we arrive.

This is us as well. We were planning on staying on through Sunday night but the flight price to fly home on Saturday night was way lower. Couple that with not having to stay another night in a hotel and spend more on food, etc and we are saving well over $1,000 Canadian to fly home on the Saturday night. And we're flying in the day before the cruise, so not much sightseeing for us, either! We figure we will come back in a few years when our girls are teens and really see NYC then. We are most likely staying at the Holiday Inn in midtown as it's close to the port and offers free breakfast.

I arrive early Thursday via a red eye flight leaving late Wednesday evening. After recent overnight flights to/from Japan and London, I figured why not NYC as well. Staying two nights pre-cruise at a Hampton Inn in the Times Square area, and heading home Saturday afternoon.

No Frozen show for me, as for some reason I’m just not interested in seeing it...maybe because we have Frozen at Disney California adventure? But I will see three shows in two days as I found a Thursday matinee to go with my Thursday and Friday night shows. Can’t come to NY without seeing as many shows as possible, because I don’t get back there too often and the shows are always so good.

It’s just that the activities usually keep me busy! In general, I do not go on MCs to relax!
Same here - I would not have time to relax, as I’m running from panel to panel! LOL. Relaxing comes when I sleep.

Still dithering about hotels the night before the cruise, have a narrowed it down to:
Holiday Inn Express at 538 W 48th St
Holiday Inn Express at 343 W 39th St (Times Square)
Hampton Inn Times square North at 851 8th Ave

Anyone who knows NY - is there a reason to pick one of these hotels over the others? We narrowed it down to these because quite frankly the price was right and they all include breakfast! :rotfl2:

If all else looks even, I’d recommend the one closest to the port.

Are you doing anything in the city that evening, ie touring or a show? If so, I’d go with the one closer to the theatre or to a subway station. If that is not a factor, I’d go with the Hampton Inn as it has higher ratings on Trivago.

No, not planning on anything on the Friday night except dinner. I was going to go with the one closest to the port (the first Holiday Inn) but I don't know if there are a lot of restaurants in that area, so maybe the Hampton would be the way to go!

Greetings friends! About time I checked in to see what everyone is up to! This will be our second Disney cruise, our first Disney cruise was also a member cruise, so no status for us on Disney cruising! We live near Annapolis in MD and we will be taking the train up from BWI to Penn station Friday, staying at the Residence Inn Times Square Friday night. We have tickets to Hamilton on Friday night. We would love to participate in the snack exchange. We did the FE on the member cruise we did, but it was a lot of work! We just got back from a trip to Machu Picchu with our adult sons so I can now start thinking about/planning for this cruise!

Welcome!:welcome:
In a Local Candy/Snack Exchange, we use Fish extenders to gift others with a Regional candy or Snack. We pass out the gifts once, and you give enough for the cabin to share. Until the end of August, I will just note interest here, but by September 5, the exchange will be closed. ( I am on the WBTA Cruise, and we leave for Paris on September 11). Depending on the signups, there may be more than one group. On one DVC MC, there were 32 Cabin signed up, I divided the group into 4 groups of 8. On the West Coast DVC MC in May there are just 5 Cabins total involved. I will definitely keep the groups around 8, in case of a large turnout. The food must be packed by a manufacturer, similar to Halloween treats, no homemade food is allowed on board.
In August please send me a conversation stating your cabin number, how many are in your cabin, adults and children and if there are any allergies. In your gift, please put some information about the history of your food.

I love the Rainforest! However, I must say that I have had bad experiences with it on these big cruises. They sell way too many passes, and the facilities get crowded. People can’t use their passes. Then they get really upset. I bought one for a TA, and could only get I. The Rainforest once. Not good.
That wasn’t good. I can only think that on the DVC MC, most feel like there’s only time for planned activities. DSis is not a member, and she really enjoys spa things. She went on a three night DVC mC with me in January one year, on the Dream, she enjoyed the special rooms, I hardly saw her!

Thanks for sharing this information. I was thinking about either a day or full cruise pass as I love relaxing and some friends who have a Disney YouTube channel said it was relaxing but am also excited about getting to as many panels as I can. Maybe I can start with a one day pass.

I can't wait to book our excursions next weekend!! I hope something is left. ;)

I agree! It is such a beautiful and relaxing place! My impression is that on some cruises you have to buy a pass for the whole cruise. You can’t get a three or five day pass. Not sure what is for sale on this cruise. You just need to study up, and ask good questions before you buy. Hope you love it!

Silver booking window opened tonight - there are a few Palo dinner spots open seem to be some on most days. One Boston port adventure sold out, the Fenway Park batting cages. Most all land based tours for Bermuda on first day there are sold out. A few are also sold out for the second Bermuda day.

I checked Palo dinner every day for a party of 4 and nothing was available. It looked like something may be there as the buttons were active every day and not marked as sold out but, after selecting everyone and clicking continue, no times were available. I’ll keep checking up until the final day and again when we board but I don’t have too much hope. Maybe I can get someone to at least bring me the chocolate soufflé. I found a recipe online to try. All of the tastings were sold out too. That said, we did get all of our excursions so I am still happy.
