*** Yay May! OFFICIAL MAY 2020 THREAD!!! Flowers are starting to bloom! ***

So I had the harebrained idea last night to go to WDW for just 1 night next week for my birthday. It would cost me roughly $500 which isn't the worst considering it's for 3 people with flights. And then I could rebook my May 2020 trip as a bounce back. Bounce back offers for those dates don't exist yet but I'm thinking maybe I could push it out. But really, I feel like spending all that money just for 1 night is a waste when I have a much bigger and better trip planned for 11 months from now. Right? Someone please reassure me that I shouldn't do this!

I personally wouldn't do it. First, you don't know that bounce backs will be happening next year, all this talk of no discounts after Galaxy's Edge opens.

Second, one night would just feel like a tease and you couldn't pay me to fly somewhere just to have to fly back a day later.

Third, take that $500 and go out and have an awesome dinner/cocktails for your birthday!!!

I wouldn’t because it involves flights. You could end up with a delay that takes the whole trip away. Take it with a grain of salt though because I booked a trip with my husband over my birthday just to see Illuminations one last time. And then booked a trip with my daughters for two weeks later because I realized my daughter still has a valid AP.

Now if you could make it a three day trip...

As I walked home today in Chicago in 90 degree weather with dew points in the 70s I wondered, why am I going to Disney in May? ;)

LOL, I was thinking the same thing - it was 90 in NY as well! I was hoping that going in early May would cut down on some of the humidity at least, but I guess we'll find out.

We are in for May 2020. Booked a 2BR at OKW for May 23-31.

Ohhh boy we decided to look at May and am torn between May 17-23 or 24th-30th. My daughter graduates college on the 16th so not sure about making her turn right around and go on the 17th but we want the smallest crowds possible. It has been so long we cant wait to go back!
It’s not a huge difference, but my original reservation was for the 24th-28thand when I moved it to the 30th- June 4th, it dropped it $50 so there’s definitely a premium fee for that week of Memorial Day. I wasn’t planning on going to the park on the holiday anyway because I expect it to be nuts!

Well, after seeing all the pictures out there of the new Gran Destino Tower, I am BEYOND thrilled we switched from Yacht to there for our stay. Especially seeing how Future World is going to be a mess while we are there, we won't be spending a ton of time at Epcot anyways.

Hmmm, I was thinking.

Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland certainly did not garner the crowds/attention that everyone thought. Looking at that, the possibility of no discounts next year, the fact that Epcot Future World will be undergoing HUGE construction...maybe 2020 will see some wonderfully low crowds! :)

I know everyone is apprehensive about the discount situation for 2020 but I have a gut feeling that they'll be there. They might be on a different schedule than prior years or might be different set ups from before but I think something will be there. I'm hopeful.

I'm thinking SWGE will be a whole different animal at WDW, but I guess time will tell. Once ROTR opens, I think we'll know more.

But sure, sign me up for those low crowds!

I just read something that said that in May (maybe beginning of the month not sure?) there are cheerleading groups that are staying at the Disney Resorts for some competition. Does anyone know exactly when that is, what week, I would rather avoid certain resorts during that time and I think the resort I’m planning to stay at is one of those resorts. Thank you!

Yep, first two weekends of May I think?

They stay at the All Stars and I think overflow to moderates - CSR, CBR?

We will be at CSR - Tower for the second weekend. I'm not worried, just avoid food courts at certain times.

Oh ok thank you so much!! I think we might just narrowly miss them then, right now we are planning to arrive on May 13th. We are just confirming work schedules but will know the dates for sure by tomorrow.
