I am three months past my last Chase application, but I have hit Chase pretty hard this past year so I'm a bit leery to go for CIP2. I was thinking of waiting until after 6/15, but I don't know if it really matters. Or should I wait even longer? I don't have an immediate need for the URs, but also want to get in on CIP2 before it goes away. Here are my stats. Any thoughts? Thanks!

05/18/19 CITI AA Biz
05/17/19 AMEX Hilton Biz
03/02/19 CHASE CIC
12/19/18 CHASE CIP
10/19/18 CHASE SW Plus
09/21/18 CHASE SW Biz
06/15/18 CHASE CSP

You will be three months past your last Chase application so probably fine....I would check your credit limits and reduce if needed

Is anyone working on any good $250+ bank bonuses at the moment? Just finished WF and thinking about doing the Citi $500 ($400 for $15k deposit + $100 for direct deposit) for DH. I just closed my account last month so will need to wait a few months until I can apply again.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi...lable-nationwide-direct-deposit-not-required/

P2 completed the Chase checking, with the savings due to post in a few weeks (plus bonus for doing both).

I completed WF last month and am now working on this for P2 (using pushed deposits from the above Chase account, which seem to be coding as DDs).

Once the Chase savings bonus hits and frees up a bunch of savings, I'll look at hitting it again as P1, or may try Citi (or a local one that seems good on DoC).

P2 is a teacher and doesn't get paid during the summer, so I'm hoping the timing works for her deposits to go toward a new bonus when they start back up in August.

I’m sorry. Between hail damage, accidents, and car loans, it’s like your cars are responsible for more than half your MSRs.
While the loans themselves may not have been the best things, at least paying them down and using that spend for MSRs is a good thing :P

Why isn't the repair shop arguing with them? My aunt & uncle used to own a place and she was always arguing with ins, two particularly. When I got rear ended the other ins wanted an after market bumper and she argued and made them pay for stock. The only place my car says the name is on the bumper.
The shop has been arguing with them over this for the last two weeks since our shop turned in the original estimate at the beginning of April. If it was parts, I think it would be different. Our shop won't use after market parts and always argues for that, they did it when I was rear ended and when DH got sideswiped in another vehicle a few years back. But this insurance had no issue with getting stock parts, it's the labor rates.

When did this happen? You didn’t have to add yourself as an AU to your husband’s CSR in order to transfer URs from your Freedom to his CSR. You can transfer URs from your Freedom to any other UR-earning card belonging to a member of the same household. That AU counts the same as if you opened a card yourself, and will have added to your 5/24 count.

A few months back when I converted my CSP to Freedom and I think the problem I ran into was when I tried to move his UR's to my United account and it would only let me move them to HIS United account. Therefore, I added myself as an authorized user, if I remember correctly.

I think before I moved his CSR points to my CSP then to my United but no longer had the CSP card since it was converted to a Freedom.

Should I try for the CIP in December? What should my next steps be? Here are my cards:

Within 24 Months Me:
Chase Sapphire Reserve - auth user on husband's so I can transfer URs from my Freedom cards.

Chase Marriott Pref Business Aug 2018
Chase Marriott Premier Plus upgrade May 2018
Hilton Amex Business (5k min spend) May 2018
1 - Chase Marriott Dec-17
2 - Chase Freedom Dec-17
SPG Amex Business Nov-17
3 - Barclay Jetblue Nov-17
4 - Chase United MPE Nov-17

Beyond 24 mos Me:
Chase Sapphire Preferred Jul-16 — PC to Chase Freedom
Bank of America MC Dec-16

I think the CIP for you once you are at 4/24 in December is a good plan...just check your credit limits and reduce if necessary prior to applying

.....unfortunately you didn’t have take a 5/24 slot and add yourself as an authorized user to your DHs CSR in order to transfer URs from your Freedom account to his CSR

So what should be the next step for DH
CIP1 AF posted
CIP2 was approved 6/3.
CIP1 statement closes on 6/16.

Do i close CIP1 after transferring points? Do I switch it to a different card? He is at 3/24 not counting his CIP1 and now CIP2

Couldn’t you have moved all your household URs to DH’s CSR, then move whatever URs you needed to his United account, then book your award flights from DH’s United account?

Anyone get the Biz Plat upgrade offer? I got it on my BGR and Green biz. I know I’m better off getting the card on its own instead of upgrading but I’m slightly tempted since I was planning on closing both those card in August and want to stay in AMEXs good graces (especially with DH on the naughty list). If I take the upgrade I can never open a biz plat at a later date for a bonus, correct?

Thanks for the input. I misspoke, I added myself when I tried to transfer his CSR URs to my United mileage account and they would not let me because the mileage account did not match the name on his CSR account. Therefore, I put myself on his CSR account and it let me transfer points to my UAL mileage account.

I couldn't because the bulk of the miles were in my account. I know it wasn't ideal at all to do it this way.

@amalone1013 @platamama Just an update on the Plastiq 10K promo. I completed the $10K payments by May 31st and received the 10K FFDs in the referee account. I emailed Plastiq and asked about the other 10K FFDs in the referrer account. They said that since I had referred my husband earlier that I would not get the second set of 10K FFDs. I had referred him earlier with the email hisname@business.com and then the second time with info@business.com. I did set one up with his formal name and one with a common nickname i.e. Harold and Harry. It would have been great to have the extra 10K FFDs, but at least I ended up with 10K and the standard 1K plus 500 FFDs.

If you are planning to use Plastiq for tax payments, you need to be very patient. It took 2 1/2 weeks for the Federal payments to post in April, but only 6 days for the June estimated payment. The state tax payments are a whole other issue. It took 6 weeks for the state to deposit the check from Plastiq. I had cancelled the payment by then and paid it again. They refunded my 2nd payment when the 1st check finally arrived, then when they realized that the 1st payment had a stop payment I started getting all kinds of late fees and penalties. I even have a letter that states they incorrectly refunded my 2nd payment. Hopefully, I have all this sorted out in the next week or so.

Ah that's different. I was already an AU on DH's Platinum account (going way, way back) and that was the only reason he could add some of his points into my Flying Blue account since I was a bit short of what we needed to book our flights. Luckily for us it was just there waiting and we didn't need to use up a slot, but that was the only way he could find that would work.

Sometimes we just can't go the "ideal route." I had to get the Chase Hyatt card because DH was at 5/24, when he really should have been the one since he had the Hyatt account and all our points in his name.

Correct, with the caveats that there are occasionally no lifetime language (“NLL”) offers on Amex’s cards that’ll let you get the bonus on a card product you’ve had before again, and an Amex “lifetime” may mean you have to wait “only” 7 years after the closure of a card product to get the bonus on it again.

Since I will be booking my Aug 2020 United ticket in October, and the award charts begin in Nov I might be safe from the problems that could come along with that however the phantom fares are scaring me!

Let’s try this again.

You need to check if there are even bookable Business Saver awards at 70k United miles after November 2019, and if there are even 4 award seats available before you throw any more money towards this plan. Otherwise, you’ll need a crap-ton more points and miles in order to fly United than you’ve accounted for.

How are you planning to accumulate the 560k United miles, or transferable points that can convert to United miles, that you think you’ll need by October?

Are you really looking to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in the next 4 months on your existing cards to earn the 276k+ United miles, or points that can transfer to United, which you think you’ll need for 4 Polaris seats, each way?

What are you points and miles totals in every program (UR, MR, Marriott, United, etc.) currently?

You’re at 5/24 until, basically, December 2019, so Chase’s cards are not even an option for you.

What, if any, credit cards are you looking to open?

Couldn’t you have split your itinerary? Used UA miles already on your United account to book some tickets, and transferred all the household’s UR to DH’s CSR, then transfer the URs from DH’s CSR to DH’s United account and have DH book the remaining tickets?

You could close CIPor PC it to a CIC or CIU....

Good to know Chase worked for WF, thanks!

They can't make up points to get you your Welcome Home booking, the most they can do is pull from the cash side - if there are even any GC villas left. Given how small the resort is, that doesn't surprise me.

I was going to buy the poly. They had a 75-490? Point contract available. He said he would check the cash inventory. I assumed that would get us just a regular room at the cash rate.

So no room at the Grand California was the deal breaker?

Yes lol the difference between resale and direct was about $8,000 I figured if we got the Grand Californian room that was a $3,500 value plus tax so the difference between direct and resale wasn’t that much. They give you basically double points up front so for the 75 point contract we would have 150 to use right away. Without that trip though I’m not paying that much extra for direct.
