Cass, Rob & Kira - Disneyland May 2019 - "Sniff...snifff. I think I smell Wi-Fi!!!"

"Umm, no, that is when the flight leaves, we have to leave by 3am." :rolleyes1

Ouch!

In order to be able to do this, we time-shifted a little a few days before we left. We got up a little earlier every day and went to bed earlier in order to adjust.

We tend to go to bed early and get up early but a 3 a.m. leave time is too early for me.

2.jpg

Sweet. I like that you "repeat" photos from previous trips.

Your room included robes?

Nice that the resort has not moved to the big dispensers on the wall. ... Yet... I am environmentally friendly, we even use paper grocery bags for our trash bags but I hate it when Disney claims to be environmentally friendly but they are really padding their pockets with using the bulk shampoo/conditioner dispensers. I think they should provide small cartons (think old fashioned milk cartons like we used to get in school) of individual shampoos/conditioners, etc.

If Disney was really environmentally friendly they would not sell balloons and would provide paper bags for shoppers instead of making shoppers buy a "recycled" plastic bag that is still going to end up in a landfill or ocean.

I like Kira's pants. They look comfy. I also see a bag in Rob's hand. I take it that Disneyland is still providing shopping bags and not making customers buy a "reusable" plastic bag?

May 11th, Part 4

It was now time for dinner! My main goal, food-wise, for this trip, was to eat at several new-to-me places and to return to some of our faves.

So tonight, we start with a new experience for us all....

102.jpg

103.jpg

104.jpg

They brought us some bread and oil and balsamic vinegar but we preferred plain old regular butter ::yes::

105.jpg

We started with a Caesar salad to share. We didn't even finish this, it was not great. Not terrible but just kind of bland.

106.jpg

But then came our pizza and we were happy :earboy2:

107.jpg

It was delicious! Hard to eat because the crust/bottom is so soft but so very delicious!

Even Kira, who is super picky about her pizza was devouring it. When she first looked at it, she thought she was going to hate it but I knew once she got over the fact that it didn't look like her beloved Little Caesar's Pizza, she would enjoy it! It's similar to the pizza at Via Napoli in Epcot but slightly different.

108.jpg

The worst part of the meal was that there was no Wi-Fi. In fact, the worst part of the trip was the terrible or non-existing Wi-Fi! 😡

Now for most of you, because you're Americans with unlimited data plans, this wouldn't bother you but us Canadians, who are charged data/roaming rates when travelling out of the country, this irks us. If you ask me what the main difference between WDW and DL is, I will say one has much better wi-fi :rolleyes2

Now I understand that they can't have super expansive Wi-fi connectivity because they are so close to the outside world and don't want Joe Schmo on Harbor Blvd to be getting free wi-fi but when you're in the parks or in Downtown Disney, you should be able to have decent Wi-Fi. This is soooo not the case. In DL, they have Wi-fi hot spots, which are small areas of the parks where the signal is half-decent but if you wander outside of those small little areas, you are booted out and it's not easy to get back in! 🤬

Rob and I always use our data because we need to be online because of work/emergencies and since the wi-fi was so bad and I was using Max Pass and Mobile Ordering the entire week, I definitely chewed through the data. Kira, however, is under strict orders to never remove that airplane mode on our trips, so she relies solely on connecting to that Wi-Fi in order to read her stories and text her friends at home.

There's nothing scarier than a moody pre-teen without internet. :rolleyes2:rotfl2:

So after dinner, we headed back to the hotel...

109.jpg

Can one really take too many photos of this hat?? :rolleyes1

110.jpg

It was time to get some dessert....wanna take a guess what we got?? 🤔🤭

Rob prefers his floats but when sharing, he gets the regular one because Kira and I don't enjoy the juice so we decided to get two. 😜

That's whip # 2 🍦 and #3 🍦

111.jpg

I think we walked around while eating them because I have this close up of Mickey & his friend welcoming us. 😏

112.jpg

When we were done, Rob decided to go down to the store and ask about shipping costs for my Disneyland sign. They actually quoted a decent price but then the CM, as they started the motions, realized that they had just stopped shipping to Canada a few days ago.

Seriously Disney? We are your neighbour, very close to you, not some distant, foreign territory. 🙄

So, back up in the room we were chatting about options and Rob checked Fed Ex prices and it was only $17 to ship home! Ummm, SOLD!!! I thought it was going to be like $60 or $80, which I would have definitely said no to but $17? :cool1:

He went back downstairs and bought the sign and brought it to Bell Services where these two lovely gentlemen helped him with getting my sign shipped. And of course, they were big Star Wars fans and Rob made two new best friends :lmao:

Rob is part of the 501st, which is a world-wide Star Wars costuming group where Star Wars super fans make/buy detailed and amazing costumes and dress up to attend charity functions and such. Rob is a clone trooper and each one has their own designation (TC-7623 is Rob's) and they all have trading cards and tattoos to hand out to kids and big kids alike and he is always prepared

113.jpg

It took awhile because it got held up in Louisville, Kentucky but it got here two days ago and is now hanging above our bed

Why the heck it went from Anaheim all the way to Louisville to get to Calgary is beyond me :confused3 :rotfl2:

Back in the room, my clumsy kid ended up falling off the bed and just decided to lay there :joker:

114.jpg

Once we digested our meal, it was pool time!!! One of my favourite parts of any trip :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Rob is always way too cold to join us so Kira and I donned the robes and we all headed down.

115.jpg

Rob took some pics of us then relaxed by the side of the pool enjoying the view and spotting some cats. I love the pool area here, the blues...the palms...the tiki torches...the lights!!! 😍

116.jpg

117.jpg

It could just be perspective but I swear they installed that "s" upside down. 🤔🧐

118.jpg

119.jpg

The pool was a little too cold for Kira so she stuck to the hot tub mostly but it was perfect temperature for me and I enjoyed going back and forth from pool to hot tub.

Back up in the room, while getting clothes ready for the next day, I realized I totally forgot to give Kira the gift I had bought her. I always buy her something small to commemorate each trip and give it to her during our breakfast at the airport but I had packed it in our suitcase and totally forgot about it!

She is OBSESSED with the boy band Why Don't We but they have very little merchandise to be found anywhere so I ended up having a t-shirt made for her on Tee Public with all of the boys faces. She was thrilled 🥰

120.jpg

121.jpg

I was checking out our view and saw Galaxy's Edge all lit up, it looked sooo pretty!!!

122.jpg

It was only about 9:15pm but we had been up way too long and we were all exhausted and it would be an early morning tomorrow so we got ready for bed and said our goodnights. About 5 minutes later, Rob and I heard a boom and I knew it was the fireworks so we got out of bed and watched them. Kira was snoring and didn't hear a thing 😂

123.jpg

There were way more fireworks than I thought there would be! I had read about it and seen a few clips from Mickey's Mix Magic but I didn't watch the whole thing because I had wanted to see it the first time with my family.

124.jpg

As soon as they were done, we went back to bed and fell asleep (passed out!) in the comfy bed 😴

It was a fantastic first day! So much more fun to come though. 🤗

Glad you got your sign, Cass. You soooo deserve it.

I’m wondering why Rob didn’t give us any cards when he was here in January. Perhaps you already told him that we probably wouldn’t even know what they were all about? Lol. :sad2:

Kira is almost as tall as you and just as pretty. :lovestruc

Hi Cass, I'm a long time reader and fellow Albertan. I've seen the Sargento snacks at Costco in YEG, just thought I'd pass that along. Thanks for sharing your trips with us, I've enjoyed your Disney adventures and watching Kira through the years.

Whooooo hoooo! Another Cass trippie!!

So, wait....Rob had NO security issues at the airport? He always does! :)

Kira got one strawberry? Whahahahaha. Pace yourself kiddo!

Why was the 5th floor weird to you? I must've missed something. Nothing new there, eh?

Um, any and all unwanted popcorn buckets or mugs can definitely be sent this way, dear. All my mugs went missing somehow and one can never have enough Disney stuff anyway.

Rob is definitely one of the friendliest guys we ever met. My hubby is rather shy except when he gets on a plane. For some reason, he can carry on an entire conversation with a complete stranger but is otherwise quiet. Well, I should say as long as he can talk basketball to someone, they’re golden.

And Chuck and I agree with Rob. You should’ve bought yourself that Mickey sipper.

Our room number was 2329, normally the first number is the floor number, easy to remember that way. Sometimes, the first number will be the building number and the second number is your floor number....totally makes sense. 2329 on the 5th floor? Makes zero sense :rotfl2: The first thing I repeated in the elevator to them on the way to our room was "We are on the FIFTH floor! FIVE!! Number 5!! Fifth floor! What floor are we on?? :lmao: I know my family, they would totally forget!

I know, right? He sailed through security AND customs! :cool1:

I will have to go through them then before I see you next ;)

HAHA, the way Chuck is on that plane next to a baseball fan...that's Rob...with everyone...all the time :lmao:

Meh, sipper schmipper :earboy2:

Following along!

Last weekend I was at Disneyland and saw your Facebook updates so was wondering if you were still visiting! I should have reached out, but maybe another time!

Aw man! You totally should have! We could have met up for a Dole Whip or something. :rolleyes1:p

Glad you're here! :goodvibes

Yea! I was hoping you would be posting a trip report after seeing the teasers on FaceBook!

I had decided to post generic photos on my FB TA page and save the personal ones for the trippie :thumbsup2

Glad you found me

I've never commented before but truly enjoy your trip reports...will look forward to reading this Disneyland adventure

Yay, glad you finally commented and happy you're here

Hi Cass! I'm ready to see "my" DLR through your eyes! Kira has grown up so much in the past year and she is absolutely beautiful!

Wooo hoooo!

I better be gentle with "your baby!" :rotfl2:

Yeah, just even since my last trippie in December, I think she's changed. ::yes::

Woohooo! I knew it would start soon. I actually came yesterday to see if you started but it was down for the update.

I can't wait to see all you did and all the things that we probably missed out doing. hahaha

I have been trying to post this all day. hope it finally goes through

I usually need a week to recover and catch up but don't like to wait too long before I forget things :rotfl2:

We spent 5 days there and we missed out on stuff! I really wish they would sell 6 and 7 day passes! 🤬

I actually started my report, wrote the first chapter, posted it, then finished my second chapter and the boards went down! UGH! Good thing I copied and pasted everything into Word before I left because it only saved my draft until the boards went down, which was almost at the beginning! 😲

I am hearing at WDW lots of people are smoking in the bathrooms now and someone reported it to a CM and the CM basically said they know it's happening but can't tell who is doing it in which stall and they are reporting it to higher ups....I knew this would happen. I wonder if Disney will change the rule or not eventually?

Oh really? Yikes, that is NOT good! I usually just mind my own business but if someone was smoking in the bathroom, I would definitely be talking to someone about it! That is NOT okay! 😠

I don't think they will go back to smoking in the parks but I am thinking maybe they might change the smoking area from outside the security to inside? At least make it a little easier for smokers? I dunno! 🤔

Ahhhhh, I think i see why you thought the 5th floor location was weird. That’s what I get for reading your trippie from my phone, outside in the sunlight. Lol!

LOL! Stay out of the sun and sunlight 🤪

(my 1st post didn't actually post so here goes again!)
So happy I caught this trippie at the beginning! California and Disneyland are definitely on my to-do list. I am from eastern Canada so a little further for us but I will get there one day!
All these pics show me this beautiful young lady with long hair that pretty much looks like a teenager! wow! She has been growing up quick! She's beautiful :)
I agree with you about the room, I really like it... looks nice!
I'll be following along, can't wait!

Glad you found me! :goodvibes

It's definitely somewhere you should visit! So different from WDW and so unique! :thumbsup2

Yeah, 6 more months before she's officially a teenager!!

Yayy...another Cass trip report! We were in Disney World while you were in Disneyland...cool! My husband is also the one who talks to everyone and makes friends everywhere. Can definitely be annoying, lol. Can't wait to read along!

LOL! Too funny! How was WDW?

Yes, it's annoying when you're waiting on them and you have somewhere to go. :rolleyes2

Glad you're here

Yippee - looking forward to reading all about your trip. That Disneyland Hotel looks great, would love to stay there next time. Hungry for a dole whip - my fav!!

Looking forward to sharing it :cool1:

Definitely try to stay there, it's awesome!!

We are ALL going to be so very hungry for Dole Whips throughout this trippie :rotfl2:

Trying again, my first response didn't post!!
So excited to see your TR, had fun following you on FB and all the fabulous photos!!
Looks like day one was off to a great start!!!

Ugh, it's been frustrating to say the least! New smileys now though 🥳

Glad you're here, it's going to be a fun one 😉

Following along! We consider Disneyland our home park since we live on the west coast and it’s gonna be fun to see it through your report!

Ooooh yay!! Not my home park but I still love it!!! 😍

Yay! Another report! I love DL Hotel but I’m too cheap to stay there....looks like the trip is off to a great start!

Jill in CO

I'm cheap too but we splurge a little because it's sooo worth it! 🤗 😜

Following along popcorn:: Sounds like a FANTASTIC way to spend mother's day!!!! We were jetting off to Cancun for the dd's destination wedding ( which was an awesome trip ) on Mother's day. I couldn't think of a better way to be spending Mother's day than getting on a plane heading to warm sand, water, palm trees and lots of yummy drinks!!!!

I'm like you...we love West Jet as well. I used to always have to take Air Canada when I travelled for business, and always encountered problems. For the destination wedding, our dd had picked Air Transat for the carrier for our group booking. NEVER AGAIN will we fly with them. We had OLD OLD OLD planes that didn't even have any wifi...and had screen in the bulk heads that showed one movie ( that didn't even friggin work for all three movies that they tried to show ) at a time, and where our headphone clicked into the arm rest, if the connection wasn't just right it was just static in your ear! And don't even get me started on the RUDE, and incompetent cabin crew. I feel sorry for the travel agent that took care of everything, we had nothing but problems with some bookings and planes with them. Like I said...NEVER AGAIN will I travel with them.

I can't wait to hear more about your trip!!! I had actually done a search not long ago, wondering if you have ventured somewhere again. I'm living vicariously through trip trip report. Crossing my fingers, toes and anything else, that maybe we can do a Disney/Universal Trip late this year early next year. I would love to reward our potter head son who is graduating this year with a trip for his graduation present. But for now, I will just have to live through my favorite trip report people posts to read.

Oh wow! That is a fantastic way to spend Mother's Day!!!

UGH! Air Transat..the only thing worse than Air Canada 😳 Sorry, that sounds like a terrible experience 🥺

I will cross my fingers for you too! 🤞That would be a great Grad gift! 😍

Ouch!

We tend to go to bed early and get up early but a 3 a.m. leave time is too early for me.

LOL! Yeah, it was crazy early but it was sooo nice to have the entire day once we got there! Normally we eat dinner and then some pool time and done! I would easily do it again, it was worth it! Plus going to bed early that night was very beneficial to getting up for early entry the next day 😎

Sweet. I like that you "repeat" photos from previous trips.

Me toooo 🥰

Your room included robes?

Yes, DLH has robes to use. Grand Californian used to have them too but we found out later that they don't have them anymore 😢

I hear you! There wasn't even a recycle bin in our room! We were shocked! We recycle and compost so much! It actually hurt to put everything in the garbage!! 😣

If Disney was really environmentally friendly they would not sell balloons and would provide paper bags for shoppers instead of making shoppers buy a "recycled" plastic bag that is still going to end up in a landfill or ocean.

Yup, exactly! 💰💰💰

I like Kira's pants. They look comfy. I also see a bag in Rob's hand. I take it that Disneyland is still providing shopping bags and not making customers buy a "reusable" plastic bag?

I was shocked, they always gave us a bag! But we use them for dirty clothes and other stuff and then we recycle them once we get home. I can't imagine how many go in that garbage in the hotels though. 😱

We did buy two of the reusable bags but they never even asked us if we wanted to buy them, we had to ask for them. 😥

Rest of replies are above, in your quote. 😉

:lovestruc

Thanks hun! I'm glad we finally got it. 🥰

LOL, yes, you'd be like ummm what do we do with this crap? 🤣

She will soon be taller and she's already way more beautiful than I!

Hi Cass, I'm a long time reader and fellow Albertan. I've seen the Sargento snacks at Costco in YEG, just thought I'd pass that along. Thanks for sharing your trips with us, I've enjoyed your Disney adventures and watching Kira through the years.

Hello fellow Albertan! :wave2:

Oh really?? Hmmm I am going on Wednesday, I will have to look but I won't get them because I am back on keto! Ate way too much bad stuff on this trip

Thanks for posting! :cool1:

So, back up in the room we were chatting about options and Rob checked Fed Ex prices and it was only $17 to ship home! Ummm, SOLD!!! I thought it was going to be like $60 or $80, which I would have definitely said no to but $17? :cool1:
Sweet! So awesome you finally got your sign!
It was only about 9:15pm but we had been up way too long and we were all exhausted and it would be an early morning tomorrow so we got ready for bed and said our goodnights. About 5 minutes later, Rob and I heard a boom and I knew it was the fireworks so we got out of bed and watched them.
Awesome view with the fireworks and SWGE! About 90 hrs until I see it...not like I’m counting or anything! 😝
Aw man! You totally should have! We could have met up for a Dole Whip or something. :rolleyes1:p
I know! I think for some reason I thought you were posting retroactively. And you mentioned Black Tap opening, which I also thought had opened the weekend before, but obviously I was wrong!

Fantastic view of the fireworks, amazing!!!
$17 to ship the sign home?? Heck yes!!!! :flower1::flower1:
I agree, the wifi stinks in DL, unless you are near a ride/attraction that has a FP kiosk. My dh has unlimited calling/texting/data with his plan from Freedom Mobile in both US and Canada (I have the same plan, just limited to Canada) so we just rely on his phone when we travel to the US which works out well *most* of the time, except when we want to split up in the parks which happens occasionally. Le sigh.

Can't wait for your first day in the parks!!!

May 12th, Part 1

Early entry started at 7am so I got up at 5:45am and showered. Rob followed and to Kira's irritation, we woke her up with all of our noise getting ready. :rolleyes2

I looked out our window every morning to see the weather and the beautiful Black Spire.

I will tell you now that I could not have asked for better weather, the entire week! :worship:

With my Lupus, I run hot and when I overheat or stay in the sun too long, I get very ill so I am always praying for overcast days and lower temps and I personally LOVE the rain.

Our days started out at about 17ºC, (62F) in the mornings and got to about 21º-24º C every day (70-75F) and most days were overcast in the morning and then got sunnier out in the afternoons, which worked out great because we had planned to take breaks during the hottest and busiest times in the parks.

I was perfect in shorts and a tee but Rob definitely needed a hoodie during the day and a jacket for most nights. Kira said she would be okay in just a tee but I told her to bring a light hoodie but she refused to bring anything. I recommended a fanny pack in the parks for her but she only wore it this one morning because she doesn't like to carry anything apparently. :rolleyes1

125.jpg

I don't eat breakfast but my family needs it or they will be super crabby and I take longer to get ready in the morning so every morning, I would shower, then Rob would shower, while I was still doing my hair, Rob would head down to the Coffee House and get some bagels for him and Kira and a coffee for himself. Kira likes to shower at night so that she has time to flatten her hair in the morning so she was last to wake up and get ready. :rolleyes2Then we would meet him down there and walk over to the parks. We also had some chocolate croissants from Vons and they would often split one of those in the morning too.

This worked out great and became a nice morning tradition for us 🥰

126.jpg

Security lines are very short at this time of the day.

127.jpg

As are crowds

128.jpg

129.jpg

And there is our destination! Disney California Adventure! I love Early Entry here, so much better than the hordes of people at Disneyland EE.

130.jpg

We got through the turn-styles a few minutes after 7am. It only took a few minutes to get our tickets and check our ID and then we were through!

131.jpg

Today was Mother's Day and they were giving out free carnations. I didn't get one because I didn't want to wear or carry it around all day but it was a pretty sweet gesture for Disney! :thumbsup2

132.jpg

We slowly walked towards our goal while I tried to add our Max Pass. Rob and I already had it on our tickets but I had to add it each day to Kira's and that was such a huge pain the buttocks! The wi-fi was terrible and I would log-in, start buying it then it would kick me out and I would have to do it all over again! 🤬

Eventually I got smart and turned off my wi-fi so that it would stay on cellular but it took me a day or two to figure that out. 😏

And I can't read a thing without my dang glasses so yeah, that was fun 🙄

Rob captured my lovely struggle with my phone 😜

133.jpg

Max Pass purchased, first MP secured! Onto our first destination, Guardians of the Galaxy, Mission Breakout 🤩😍

I think this is my favourite Disney ride ever! I mean, nostalgically, it's Haunted Mansion but other than HM, this ride is the BOMB!! We all love GotG and all Marvel movies and I LOVE the Tower of Terror, so this combination is just sooo awesome! I rode it last year but was eager to ride it with my family finally.

134.jpg

Hello, gorgeous! 😍

135.jpg

We asked Kira to take our photo with the tower in the background...oops I forgot to resize this sucker, sorry, it's massive :P

136.jpg

Bahahaah, close enough 😂

Kira was very nervous about riding this one. She does NOT like butterflies and she had tried Tower of Terror last summer for the first time. She didn't care for it at all but I was hoping the fun overlay with the Guardians would make it more appealing to her...

137.jpg

No one was in line! Yay!

138.jpg

139.jpg

140.jpg

Can you tell if she liked it or not??? 🤔

142.jpg

She did not 🤭

141.jpg

I was very sad about that because I wanted to do it five times in a row and we totally could have because no one was around. We were about to carry on to our next ride when she suggested we go without her. She said she would wait. We weren't sure if we wanted to leave her there alone, after all, she's our baby, our one and only and we are a little over protective. A lot over protective if you ask her. 🙄

We debated a bit but decided to go for it. We told her to sit on the bench at the exit and not to move LOL!

And since Rob loved it as much as I did, we were thrilled to be going on again. :cool1:

143.jpg

144.jpg

146.jpg

Got to see a few more details, which we loved!

147.jpg

148.jpg

149.jpg

Love this one! :rotfl2:

150.jpg

151.jpg

152.jpg

153.jpg

On-ride selfie! :P

154.jpg

145.jpg

Kira had been grumbling about being cold and I was proud of her for at least trying the ride, so we ended up getting her this hoodie/shirt, which she loved and was perfect for her, for the weather.

155.jpg

We still had about 15 minutes before early entry was done so we headed over to Carsland.

Look at all of the people waiting for 8am opening.

156.jpg

If you stay left and show your room key, you can pass them all :cool1::banana:

157.jpg

Look at all that space!!! That never happens at this spot, we usually get trampled here

158.jpg

We even got to this spot before the photopass people were here and the line for the pic was added! :bounce:

159.jpg

Sorry, gotta end it here, there's still a 35 image limit on the boards :rolleyes2

We got to Radiator Springs Racers and it was only a 10-minute wait but really, we just walked right onto it :cool1:

160.jpg

161.jpg

162.jpg

Oh look, the peace/victory symbol AND the tongue...teenager double whammy! ✌😝

163.jpg

And for your viewing pleasure...braces close-up, tongue and....ummm, not sure exactly what Rob is doing here?? 🤣 Hold onto to your butts...errr foreheads! 🤪

164.jpg

I always cheer for us to go into Luigi's and we ended up getting it :goodvibes

165.jpg

Hahaha, what a photo! 🤪

166.jpg

We then boogied over to Pixar Pier.

167.jpg

I absolutely LOVE what they've done here! The new theming just makes it that much more Disney and makes everything that was already awesome, just a little more awesome ::yes::

Love Luxo Jr that moves!

168.jpg

And the details!!! :magnify:

169.jpg

170.jpg

This was our next stop...

171.jpg

Remember how I told you how friendly he was?? He also does this a lot! I will do it too, if I'm asked but he goes a step further and randomly asks people if they want him to take their photo :rotfl2:

172.jpg

This would be our first time riding this coaster together. Rob and I have done it when it was California Screamin' but this would be Kira's first time ever. I knew she would like it because she loves Expedition Everest and Hulk over in Florida and it's kind of on the same level as those.

173.jpg

174.jpg

We had Max Pass for it but since it was only 15 minutes, we decided to ride it stand-by first.

175.jpg

176.jpg

177.jpg

Peace, man! :hippie::lmao:

178.jpg

We all love Incredibles, both 1 & 2 so this ride was a highlight for us! It was, by far, Kira's favourite ride and she wanted to ride it all day, every day. When we weren't actually riding it, she would talk about how much she wants to ride it. 😜 I think the theming only added to the awesomeness. :thumbsup2

We went right back on, this time with our MP's and we decided to wait to ride in the front row and it was soooo worth it!!! :worship:

181.jpg

179.jpg

We walked by the newly-opened Jessie's and Rob and I wanted to ride it but Kira refused exclaiming that it was a baby ride. :rolleyes2

Soooooo????

You know how many "baby rides" we suffered through with you kiddo since you were a ride chicken until last year?? :rolleyes1

The guilt trip didn't work! Party pooper!! :rotfl2:

182.jpg

Fine! We had a MP for Toy Story anyway...

183.jpg

50 minutes already!! :scared: We waited less than 10 minutes with Max Pass.

184.jpg

185.jpg

I was the big wiener :rotfl2:

While I don't take pride in beating my kid, I'm totally fine with beating my husband

I don't pull the trigger as often as they can because my joints are sensitive but I just go for the bigger targets and it usually works out for me 🙃

187.jpg

I was able to snag another MP for Incredicoaster so we went and did that one for a third round, this time letting Rob ride the front row.

After three spins, we were getting very familiar with the ride spiel and Kira and I would be yelling it out. It was so much fun!

"And the baby is gone!"

😂🤣

I told Kira my favourite line was at the end, when Helen was thanking Edna for watching Jack Jack and she tells her that babies can be unpredictable and then Violet says "Yeah, Mom, super babies!"

It totally sounds like thuper babies, like with a lisp, and I can say it perfectly because I have a lisp due to my braces, so this made me think it was Violet saying it. So every time we got off of this ride (we did it a LOT over the course of 5 days) I would look at Kira when I was next to her or yell it out to her when I wasn't "Yeah Mom, THUPER BABEETHS!!" and we would jokingly argue about it because she said it was Dash who said it.

So, after, I don't know...about a dozen rides, on our very last ride, I put my ear super close to the speaker and realized that it was Dash who said it. 😜

So I yelled out loud as we were getting out of that last round "I am so sorry pumpkin, you are right, it IS Dash!!" HAHAHAHAHA! You should have seen the big grin on her face ::yes:::rotfl2:

Don't get used to being right kid...it doesn't happen often! BAHAHAHAHAH! 😂🤣😆

We had Soarin' MP's so we headed over there now...

191.jpg

Ha! The monorail photo bombed me there! 🥰

192.jpg

Scanned our tickets and soared over the world. We totally lucked out because, although we didn't ask for it, we got the best possible seats, middle theatre, row 1, in the middle of the glider. 🥰

Can't complain about that ! 🥳

These are the ticket scanners. You can use your phone instead but it's so much easier and faster with your ticket. And please use both sides, most people don't for some weird reason. :confused3

At my image limit. 😕

We loved incredicoaster too. That was one ride we did several times over the course of our trip.

:rolleyes1
You have to get her a Stitch or Harry Potter themed one! Then she'll never want to take it off!

Ugh, that is sooo annoying about your wifi issues! They were supposed to upgrade it with MaxPass, and I guess it's better than it was before, but not good for international visitors!
I love this one too! I feel like it just showed up one day without any announcement (when Thor Ragnarock came out)!
We went right back on, this time with our MP's and we decided to wait to ride in the front row and it was soooo worth it!!! :worship:

Totally agree! First row is the best!
I told Kira my favourite line was at the end, when Helen was thanking Edna for watching Jack Jack and she tells her that babies can be unpredictable and then Violet says "Yeah, Mom, super babies!"

Ok, I totally still thought it was Violet! I'll have to listen closer my next time riding it!

Wow you accomplished so much with your early morning and shortly after!!!!

LOVE MaxPass. I know it can add up but it's so worth it!

Oh god, the only one in my group to ride Incredicoaster is my husband, the rest of us just wait for him to go by and take blurry photos of him :D

May 12th, Part 3

It was now time to head on over to Disneyland Park :goofy:

194.jpg

195.jpg

196.jpg

They also had carnations :flower:

197.jpg

198.jpg

Sadly, the castle was still mostly behind scrims...

199.jpg

It was now 10:20am and I was wanting to try a breakfast sandwich from the Jolly Holiday so I opened up the app to mobile order and checked that they served breakfast until 10:30 but in trying to order, they were only offering their lunch/dinner menu. I went inside to check the menus and sure enough, no more breakfast. 😕

I just decided to wait a bit and then have lunch where I had planned but Rob and Kira said they could use a snack. Rob wanted a chocolate croissant but they weren't on the mobile order menu, but we did see someone there eating one so they grabbed a table and I headed inside to order. The line was long but went quickly but once ordered, it took forever for them to call my name. So, when I have to give my name, I use my nickname Cass, which is something my family has called me since I was a kid but people seem to have a hard time understanding that name, especially since I've gotten my braces and speak like a 5-year old so I decided to just use Kira because it's easier to say and hear in a crowd and no one ever seems to have a problem with that name and it's also somewhat rare. So as I waited for my order to be called, they called out Kira THREE times!! 🙃

So much for being rare. 😂

Love the details here...

200.jpg

Rob took this shot as they waited for me. Funny story, when we first got into this area, Rob looked at the Matterhorn with disbelief and shouted out "They built a mountain???!!!!" 🤣

Yes baby, in 1959! 😝

He was a little disoriented for a minute and thought he was in the Magic Kingdom. :lmao:

They were happy because they had wi-fi here 😜

201.jpg

She was much happier when I brought her out a cookie ::yes::

202.jpg

Rob was also a little excited :rotfl:

203.jpg

So, we stopped so I could have a snack but I ended up watching them eat instead :scratchin

By the time they were done, it was almost time for our planned lunch at Stage Door Cafe!

It looked so weird here without the arch...

204.jpg

Way more open though, which is what they need because this area is such a bottleneck :scared:

205.jpg

A reminder of what once was....

206.jpg

It was almost 11am so we grabbed a table and I mobile ordered and was the second order that day at the mobile window. Remember how I said I prefer to give the name Kira? Well, when you use mobile order, it uses the name on your account, which is Catherine, my real name, which I use whenever I have to write my name down because, well, that's legally my name. So the lady in front of me, waiting for her mobile order, was also named Catherine and the lady behind me, whose name was called just as I was heading out the door...also named Catherine.

Life is funny. :p

So many ducks here, they were awesome to watch.

207.jpg

Look at this golden deliciousness! :lovestruc

208.jpg

They are so big, we didn't finish them! In hindsight, we should have just split two of these suckers. We left very full and very satisfied :D

We rolled ourselves over to Pirates..

209.jpg

210.jpg

Kira made this face out of her own volition :rotfl2:

She surprised me this trip with making great funny faces and even letting me videotape her dancing!

211.jpg

After Pirates, we MP'd Big Thunder...

212.jpg

I said nice picture please....:rotfl:

213.jpg

Ummm, maybe less tongue? :p

214.jpg

215.jpg

We then MP'd Splash Mountain...

216.jpg

We weren't too sure if we wanted to do this one because sometimes you get soaked but we were almost done at the parks for now so we figured why not?

217.jpg

They got mildly wet, I got soaked on the right side and my shoes got quite wet.

218.jpg

219.jpg

One last attraction before heading back to the hotel...

220.jpg

There are 17 candles in this room...can you find them all? 🤫

221.jpg

Did a quick pop-in at the store here...love this store, small but so unique!

222.jpg

Before we go though...we had to get some dessert...

#4 🍦

223.jpg

The thing I love about Disneyland, even though I consider WDW my "home" park, is that you can feel Walt here. You can walk in his footsteps, feel his influence and if you pay attention to the details, you can really feel his presence here.

224.jpg

Back to the hotel for a rest, but not before Rob got himself #5 🍦 🤭

Another Cass report! yay! Loving it so far. We will be at DLR in August with Adventures by Disney. Looking forward to SWGE, of course, but your pics got me very excited for Pixar Pier. Kira just gets prettier and prettier and you and Rob are just too much fun! Can't wait for more...

I love dole whip floats! MMM! I don't care for just the plain Dole Whip though.

You did quite a bit that morning. One thing I love about DL is that it's really not too hard to take a mid day break and rest.
I really want to go back again and hope to maybe plan something next summer after our Alaskan Cruise.

May 12th, Part 4

After our lovely rest, we were recharged and we headed back to the parks. It was time for our Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Blue Bayou.

During our last trip, in 2015, we did this package and I fell in love with the Blue Bayou potatoes and gumbo!! Oh. My. Dog. Those were sooooo delicious!!!! Plus the seat cushions were super cute and we have used them several times since then.

Knowing that Fantasmic would only be showing on one night during our whole trip (park days) and wanting to eat here again, it was a no-brainer to get reservations here.

I was excited for my potatoes but I came in with low expectations just because often when I really love something and I make a return visit, it doesn't live up to the memory. This has happened a lot, mostly at WDW though.

226.jpg

227.jpg

We got there, checked in and asked for a water table. The last time we didn't ask for it and our table kind of sucked, it was the first one you see as you enter the restaurant, very close to the door, the bright light, the walkway that everyone uses, etc., so we didn't want that again. There's always an extra wait for a water table but it was worth it to us because we don't eat here often. Kira was bummed because there's no wi-fi. 😣

228.jpg

We waited about 30 minutes I think but we grabbed a bench seat quickly so it wasn't so bad. I enjoyed watching all the people with wet butts coming off of Pirates 😂

This, I thought, was interesting...

229.jpg

Finally, we were led to our table by the water...I had a mini-panic attack when I didn't see gumbo on the menu but then I found out it was the "seasonal" soup. Whew!

230.jpg

We had a great view! 🥰

231.jpg

Looking over to the beginning of the Pirates ride...it looked better than the photo shows.

232.jpg

Our server took our order and then brought out some AMAZING bread and butter! Oh my, this was delicious!!!! We literally fought over this bread! LOL! Thankfully, they brought us out another loaf when we devoured the first one. 😆

233.jpg

Then came our gumbo!!!! :worship::lovestruc

I never thought I would enjoy gumbo and honestly, if it weren't for the Fantasmic Dining package back in 2015, I never would have tried it. The price includes an appetizer and it was the only one that didn't sound gross to me and I never thought I would like it but I wanted to try it and thank goodness I did! It was even better than I remembered

Kira also got the gumbo, at my recommendation and I refused to tell her what's in it because I knew she wouldn't try it if I did. :p

She actually liked it too, she didn't finish it though, so I gladly shared the rest of hers with Rob :rolleyes1

For those of you who know, does all gumbo taste like this? Or is this a Disney-dumbed-down version? Just curious. :scratchin This one was spicier than the one we had in 2015 but I'm a baby when it comes to spices.

234.jpg

Kira got the bone-in rib eye which she enjoyed. I thought it was a little over-cooked but still good.

235.jpg

Rob and I got the surf & turf. I gave my "surf" to Rob since I only like the "turf" part :rotfl2:

And I will tell you now, my potatoes totally lived up to the memory I have of them...SOOOOOO freaking good!!! :worship:

236.jpg

For dessert, we just got all three of them and shared.

237.jpg

This was one the winner in my book but soooo rich, we barely made a dent in it! We actually barely made a dent in any of them, we had filled up on yummy bread and the amazing entrees.

238.jpg

239.jpg

Rob was excited about this one because he loves him some Sorcerer Mickey

240.jpg

Kira wrote Happy Mother's Day on the leftovers of my favourite one. :lmao::love:

241.jpg

One last look over at the gorgeous scenery, which actually gets better as the meal goes on because your eyes adjust to the darkness.

242.jpg

With full tummies, we walked slowly over to Tomorrowland.

244.jpg

245.jpg

246.jpg

247.jpg

We had MP's for Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain. I was actually feeling a little too full for the very bumpy Star Tours so Rob and Kira went without me while I admired all of the food they grow here. I had thought they used it all in the restaurants but I googled it and found out I was wrong. Apparently, there's too many pesticides but it sure looks pretty!

248.jpg

By the time they were done, I was still quite full wasn't sure if I was ready for Space Mountain but this was the first time any of us would experience it as Hyperspace Mountain so I wanted to experience it together for the first time.

Love this shot with the moon!

249.jpg

250.jpg

251.jpg

It was AMAZEBALLS!! Holy cow, I didn't think it would be this good but we all loved it! They did an amazing job incorporating Star Wars in it and you were part of the action, not just watching something Star Wars-y!

This is my favourite ride photo...look at Kira's hair!! :rotfl2::lmao:

243.jpg

After that we headed over to Indy for another MP. :thumbsup2 Kira was not happy that her dad was "driving" BAHAHAHA! This was the first time Kira actually saw the ride. She did it in 2015 but she was too scared to open her eyes. :p

252.jpg

By the time we got off Indy, it was time to head over to where we get in line for our BB Fast Passes for Fantasmic that are part of the dining package. They had just let everyone in and there were SO MANY people!!

253.jpg

Blue Bayou packages get the best seats, right in the center. It was so packed though, they clearly sold WAY too many packages tonight! The last time we did this, we could literally lay down on the ground sideways and still not touch anyone around us. This time, we felt we were packed in like sardines :crowded:

254.jpg

255.jpg

The people behind us refused to sit until the very last minute, despite being told numerous times by a CM to take a seat. Rob kept getting smacked in the head by one lady's bag. He tolerates way more than I do because if she had hit me in the head, I would have said something!

256.jpg

PACKED!!!

257.jpg

258.jpg

259.jpg

We had great seats though and it was pretty comfy sitting on the seat cushions you get as part of the dining package.

I took a photo of them later on when we got back to the hotel. Love them! And they are completely different than the ones we got in 2015 :cool1:

260.jpg

Finally, it was time for Fantasmic! :woohoo:
