Strollers in the Hallways at Resorts

I was going to mention the security cameras. Supposedly they are all right over. Why is someone from security not seeing all these strollers & ECVs & addressing the issue? I have seen ECVs in the hallway at YC for years, but only one or 2. Haven’t seen multiple strollers at YC. We did see a stroller outside a room at POR last year. We thought is was strange that it was there every time we left our room, no matter what time of day or night. We couldn’t imagine why someone would risk leaving their personal stroller unattended so much. I would also think twice putting my child in there after who knows what critters were running around in it all night. :crazy2:
security must see them but since nothing is happening to them looks the other way but I bet if something would happen to one or it would be moved and that guest who hear from security not person leaving stroller/ECV

You park it with the scooter headed out the door and you'll get on it to leave. Or wait in the room to be rescued. The hallways and rooms are all sprinkled.
I really don’t want to come across like I’m trying to put down or insult the people I see using these because that is not my intention, but most people I see on these things wouldn’t be able to fit through that small area of hallway along side of the scooter going out the door

I’ve never seen or noticed strollers left in hallways, but I can’t stand the food trays with half eaten food that lays for hours on the ground outside rooms. :crazy2:

I never understand why people do this. I was always taught to call in room dining and they pick the trays up... that’s just standard for hotels in my experience. Why would anyone leave them in the hallway

If you put it there it’s now in the way of your exit in case of fire or emergency

So . . . Putting it in the way of someone else’s exit is okay though?

The suggestion made was that the ECV user would drive the ECV out of the room, not walk alongside it.

It has to be noted that big price increases + not as big income increases = more need to fit more into smaller rooms = using any strategy possible to conserve limited available space. The value rooms and DVC studios can get tight really fast, so leaving a double stroller or ECV in the hallway can make a tremendous difference. This is not to say whether it's right or wrong, just that it's not surprising.

I've seen many threads about fitting 5 people in a DVC studio. Even having 3 or 4 in some of those can get tight. 4 or 5 plus an ECV or big stroller could be really uncomfortable.

One reason some ECVs may be left in the hall is a solo ECV user. I can attest to what a struggle it is to keep the door open and drive the ECV into your room, and then keep the door open while you drive out. I even bought one of those rubber door stoppers, but I've never been successful using it. Yes, I bring my ECV into my room, but I see all the ECVs in the hall way, and I admit that sometimes I look a little jealously, thinking how easy it would be.

I stayed in All Star Sports with 7 people in 2 connecting rooms. It never occurred to me to leave our rather large stroller outside our room. The first few days I folded it up and left it by the door. Later in our trip I was tired of loading and unloading it so I just left it up. It really wasn’t in our way much if at all. And that was in a pretty much full occupancy value room. No excuses in bigger rooms.

According to a cast member at the wilderness lodge not me. Iam not authorized to enforce Disney rules or speak for them. Are you? You will probably say that the cm was wrong but do you really know what they were instructed to do by the people above them, I highly doubt your in the loop on that

I didn’t want to bring her into it but I am speaking from experience here, my mother in law is 73 years old 360+ lbs and has two artificial knees. How is she supposed to get on it to drive out if she can’t get along side of it. Are you suggesting she could climb over the back or spin the seat all the way around, neither one of those are possible .

Pull the pin on the transmission and pull it back to where she could get on it. Put it back in gear and she could drive it out.

I am curious about the rude ECV behavior. I use one, and I know that what some people may think is rude behavior is more a function of how an ECV works...for example no brakes on those things, so when people step in front of you (amazes me all the time...it is like you are not there), you may not be able to stop quick enough. Don't get me wrong, I know there are people that abuse them, just like everything in this world there are those that take advantage and feel entitled, but just curious...and to make sure that I am self aware of not doing something someone else thinks is rude.

People who ride the scooters two and three across, not letting anyone by.

People who don't even make it to the end of the counter service line and just sit there eating. Blocking everyone else. I saw this several times. All of these people were morbidly obese, so it was like a drug addict getting their heroin and just shooting up right there in line. Not caring what was going on around them. Actually inhaling food, stopped in couch sized scooters.

The speed demons! These people usually come flying around a corner. No concern of who they hit. I actually screamed at a man who almost hit a young child. I mean by inches. He was going faster than I ever saw a scooter go. I screamed "SLOW DOWN!" He gave the middle finger and just plowed through the crowds. I actually heard others screaming at him down the line. There were several other speeders, but none that came so close to hitting someone as that ignorant man. He weighed about 400 pounds. I don't know how that scooter was able to go so fast with him in it.

Beeping of horns for others around them to move. This in very congested areas. Wait your turn.

The trend was the morbidly obese who had massive entitlement issues. I am not one to mention weight. In fact, my past posts here have defended larger people. But-wow, wow, wow. I have never seen anything like what I saw this past visit. There is an epidemic of the super obese. A very bad one. So many super obese people that can't walk/choose not to walk. Many of them displaying rude ECV behaviors.

She could never climb at over 360 pounds. She has put herself and others in an unsafe position. Is there any way she can focus on eating healthier so it would be safer for her to travel? Imagine how her eating habits can put others in danger in an emergency. How could she be saved in a fire?

We have been trying for years with no luck and at 73 years old we don’t think it’s possible anymore. She is still pretty good at getting around but does need the scooter for Disney and long shopping days. Shorter days she can use a shopping cart and walk, she has every right as anyone else to do any of these things including Disney, but yeah nobody is carrying her anywhere. With her shape and an extra hard push she has ridden fop too.

I love the idea of wheeling the strollers down to the front desk to turn in to lost and found. If I found any expensive item in the hallway I would do the same. If security has a film of me doing it, who cares? I am not stealing it, just turning it in. Because clearly someone has lost their stroller.

It truly does surprise me that a company would adise anyone to leave a large, expensive piece of equipment somewhere out of their own control for a long period of consecutive hours.

Park it in the actual room part of the room. Only the deluxe resorts have the bathroom roght by the door, so the hallway.

When you leave your car in a parking lot isn’t that a large expensive piece of equipment left somewhere out of your own control for long periods of time? I kind of remember seeing parking lots at Disney, heck even Walmart has them.

My car belongs to me, is insured, does not have a universal key, and is built to withstand the elements.
