The ABC's of Sauntering Through WDW- J is for: Just Like That, It's Judiciously Ended! (4/23)

1) It was frustrating, bordering on infuriating on how much time and effort was wasted trying to get my AP worked out. During and AFTER the trip. Literally HOURS were spent on that and I'm really hoping it's all in order on May 1st!!
Really hope everything goes well with your AP when you are there next week!

2) The TIW card was the best thing since Disney sliced bread. I already close to coming even with it, and will more than surpass it this trip.
Still seriously considering it for July. I know you can't use it on the 4th but are there other blockout dates?

4) My favorite meal was Brunch at Cali Grill, but Terralina was a fantastic surprise and The Edison was just as great as I'd hoped it'd be!
So looking forward to Brunch at the Top after your wonderful review!

5) I discovered the Peter Pan Float and will definitely get another of those next week, and my greedy gut will also be sure to grab another Kusafiri Cinnamon Roll.
I really enjoyed the Peter Pan float too and need to try that cinnamon roll!

6) My Shop-Around-the-World was a smashing success and I will continue with this tradition again later this year.
Taking a page from your book on this one in July!

8) Things still on my list (it's long so I'll just give the highlights):

- Dine in the Sky Dinner
- Tutto Gusto Wine Bar
- Enzo's Hideaway
- The Savor the Savanah Tour
- The standby line at FOP
- A Best Mac and Cheese Quest
- A Best Eggroll Quest
- Tour at Wilderness Lodge
- A new Tiki mug from Trader Sam's
A lot of these are on my list too.....

11) Character Meets still aren't a must-do for me, but I enjoyed the one I had and they're more fun DISBounding.
Disneybounding makes everything better!

Sorry, I probably giggled far too much over this latest sight gag and am pleased that Imagineering hasn't lost their touch. Well done, Disney.
This is why I love Disney....so many clever and subtle details!

That's that thing you put a camera on, right?"
Oh my. Sounds like the college program at work. You would think someone working at a camera shop would be given some basic knowledge.

AK is still my favorite park aesthetically
I would agree. I love the back stories of Harambe and Dinoland (despite not liking the area I do like the story behind it)

Terralina was a fantastic surprise
I really need to put that on my radar. I think my Italian loving family would enjoy it.

I discovered the Peter Pan Float and will definitely get another
I hope they still have it on the menu when I do another trip. I would like another.

my greedy gut will also be sure to grab another Kusafiri Cinnamon Roll.
I must be sure to get one next time and compare it to Gaston’s.

POFQ is still a favorite resort and I can easily see myself staying here again.
If I go back to Moderate I think I would seriously consider French Quarter.

Character Meets still aren't a must-do for me, but I enjoyed the one I had and they're more fun DISBounding.
As you know I’ve done many with my girls, but generally they meet and I stand back. I think I would find them a bit awkward as an adult doing them myself. The Disney bounding helps to have something to talk about.

Lastly! Opinions on this! Do you think it was intentional that they put the "Cooties" game at the girls' bathroom?
Definitely! I never noticed this. Glad you pointed it out.

But not long. There's plenty of walking to do in Disney to help ease the burden.

Very true!

I wondered that too! I suppose kinda like SCUBA fins?

No. Much shorter. Therefore... more manageable?

It's at Baseline Taphouse. The little bar that replaced the Writer's Stop. It was pretty busy and hard to find a table, but a nice enough watering hole to cool off in for a bit. The menu us super limited, but the pretzel I got was big and filling.

Oh! It looked good, though. :)

I'm not sure in this day and age if they are ever taught it.

Probably not.

Is that not scary as hell!?!

Nah. Just means you have a nice breeze. Like a convertible.

I'd suck at meeting a Genie. I'd really mess it up and end up like Walter Bedecker in Season 1; Episode 6 of the Original Twilight Zone series.

Life in prison, I believe?
Could be worse...
Like Henry Bemis in Season 1; Episode 8.

.... or Nursing School.

 I hope you didn't fake it through nursing school!!!

Surely they at least taught you how to play cards???

Almost as Heavenly as coffee on the balcony at Disney.

:)
Well, not a coffee drinker. But it certainly sounds wonderful. All you need is someone to fetch it for you. Maybe a chocolate croissant, too.

Will you before you leave??

Yes! Had today off (but was busy...) and then the weekend and Monday before I leave stupid early on Tuesday.

Okay, I stopped too. I even washed my hands.

As a nurse that's probably automatic.

25% Scotch
25% English
25% French
25% Belgian
10% Princess

:lmao:

It's like I need a feedbag on my face and I'd be just like a Disney horse.

Just watch out for who grabs the reins.

I just have to. I'm down to mere days and trying like mad to finish up stuff (some of it a big deal if it doesn't get done) before I go. Making progress, but you know how it is....

Oh yes. I do.

I know we will!! Oodles of amazingness planned!! Some of it will blow DISsers' minds!! (I really mean it- some serious pixie dust will be involved in this trip.)

Can't wait to hear about it!

Fortunately, there is a bright spot in the shape of a brand new, shiny Trip Report on the horizon

Yay! Headed there now. :)

"That's that thing you put a camera on, right?"

"Yes, that's it."

"Ok, I just wasn't sure."

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

:lmao: You're kidding! She works at a camera store.... and doesn't know what a tripod is????

Umm, Sweetheart? You work at a camera store. Just sayin'.... It truly was one of most hilarious encounters I've had with a CM. I'm really not trying to mock her, but don't most people know what a tripod is... especially people working in a camera shop?

You can't make this stuff up!

1) It was frustrating, bordering on infuriating on how much time and effort was wasted trying to get my AP worked out. During and AFTER the trip. Literally HOURS were spent on that and I'm really hoping it's all in order on May 1st!!

Yes, I couldn't believe it took you that long! So much effort!

2) The TIW card was the best thing since Disney sliced bread. I already close to coming even with it, and will more than surpass it this trip.

Good to know! I'm considering getting it. :)

4) My favorite meal was Brunch at Cali Grill, but Terralina was a fantastic surprise and The Edison was just as great as I'd hoped it'd be!

Thanks for the tip!

5) I discovered the Peter Pan Float and will definitely get another of those next week, and my greedy gut will also be sure to grab another Kusafiri Cinnamon Roll.

That cinnamon roll is high on my list. :)

7) POFQ is still a favorite resort and I can easily see myself staying here again. I love it's size, ease of transportation, and theming. Having said that, I'm also pumped to be going to Kidani and Coronado next week and to Caribbean Beach in Sept. as I continue my quest to stay at all the resorts on property.

And they're building new ones... you may never finish!

- Dine in the Sky Dinner
- Tutto Gusto Wine Bar
- Enzo's Hideaway
- The Savor the Savanah Tour
- The standby line at FOP
- A Best Mac and Cheese Quest
- A Best Eggroll Quest
- Tour at Wilderness Lodge
- A new Tiki mug from Trader Sam's

Not a bad list at all!

9) Discovery Cove was incredibly amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was a perfect way to spend an entire day completely relaxing. I do think someday I'll go back.

It sounded just wonderful. Maybe some day...

MNSSHP party is still WAY better than the Christmas party.

::yes::

Favorite rides: FOP, HM, ToT, BTMRR, EE, PoTC in no particular order.

No particular order? That's a cop out!

And that, Friends, is a wrap on this dead fish wrapper.

Hardly.

Vroom! Vroom!

Wow! Nice sharp photo there! In a not easy to get situation.

Beautiful. But you knew I'd say that. ;)

Great framing!

Yeah... she's hard to capture. Perhaps impossible.

cool shot!

:goodvibes Perfect!

AK

I shared them all already. ;)

 Okay!

Have you ever seen Mr. Potato Head lose his ear?!! I can hear Mrs. Potato Head now, "You never listen!!"

Um... well.. that's not something you see every day!

Lastly! Opinions on this! Do you think it was intentional that they put the "Cooties" game at the girls' bathroom? I'm voting yes!, as a hilarious nod to childhood games of "Girls have cooties".

:lmao: Funny!

And with that... see you on the ABC's of an EPIC Girl's Trip!

Okay!
And thanks so much for this really fun and entertaining TR!! :)

Waiting for this vacation makes me feel like someone lost in a desert, on my hands and knees panting for water, crawling to that oasis a few hundred feet away, but barely able to make it. It's been a long week.

The good news is that it's Friday and that means I only have one more day before a couple of days "off" in which I can finish that long to-do list before I leave. It also means I can get to replies on my threads. :)

T
I wondered that too! I suppose kinda like SCUBA fins?

No. Much shorter. Therefore... more manageable?

If you look closely, they only have the flap part on the outside, so as not to trip over them and as pkondz said, they'much smaller. Also they flap part doesn't touch the ground.

It probably takes a little bit to get used to, but I imagine the costuming department figured all of that out...can't have the soldiers tripping and falling on folks, now could we?

As they say in the world of overused cliche, all good things must come to an end.

But so must all bad things.

Fortunately, there is a bright spot in the shape of a brand new, shiny Trip Report on the horizon.

Well, I guess I'd better head over to mark my spot after this!

"That's that thing you put a camera on, right?"

"Yes, that's it."

"Ok, I just wasn't sure."

Oh boy. Maybe not the best source of information...

8) Things still on my list (it's long so I'll just give the highlights):

- Dine in the Sky Dinner
- Tutto Gusto Wine Bar
- Enzo's Hideaway
- The Savor the Savanah Tour
- The standby line at FOP
- A Best Mac and Cheese Quest
- A Best Eggroll Quest
- Tour at Wilderness Lodge
- A new Tiki mug from Trader Sam's

How many of these will you knock off on this trip?

And that, Friends, is a wrap on this dead fish wrapper.

I'll make sure I exit through the gift shop.

IMG_8266-L.jpg

This one caught my eye. Great shot.

This one, too.

Thanks for another highly entertaining TR! I always enjoy following your adventures. And I'm looking forward to finally meeting you soon!

We have a small dingy and a trained porpoise for you guys.
YAY!!! When all the stars and celebrities who swore they'd move up there when a certain someone was elected actually go (don't hold your breath) the dingy and porpoise can give them an escort with much fanfare.
That's their porpoise.

Oh my goodness, I've missed you both!

Since doors are falling off the monorails now, I listened to the spiel and Mantengase'd alejado de las puertas.

Good call.

I must say, Citricos is a very lovely venue. Muted and understated with an air of elegance. Not really overly themed, just minimalist with a soft touch.

Agreed.

Fun fact: I'm 1/4 Belgian. I'm sure you care.

I do care! Interesting little Liesa tidbit.

So, my overall thoughts of Citricos? Would I rush to go back? Not really, it was a very good meal, but a very expensive one. I think for a nice date night, celebration, anniversary, or something like that, sure, it's definitely a go-to place. Both the service and food were high quality, but it's a lot of money for what you get.

Glad you enjoyed your meal. I can understand everything about this review. We're big fans of Citricos! But I think you've given it a very fair assessment.

as I was turning to leave, she continued her answer with...

"That's that thing you put a camera on, right?"

"Yes, that's it."

"Ok, I just wasn't sure."

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Umm, Sweetheart? You work at a camera store. Just sayin'.... It truly was one of most hilarious encounters I've had with a CM.

Oh. My. Gosh.

:rotfl::rotfl:

2) The TIW card was the best thing since Disney sliced bread. I already close to coming even with it, and will more than surpass it this trip.

Hmmm...interesting. We're toying with getting one this summer, but since we don't drink alcohol we aren't sold yet. It depends on how many trip we think we'll take in the year. It definitely won't pay for itself on just our August trip. It probably would in two trips. Definitely in three.

8) Things still on my list (it's long so I'll just give the highlights):

- The Savor the Savanah Tour

This was soo lovely! Highly highly recommend! Especially for someone who enjoys the "sauntering" pace, Animal Kingdom knowledge, and a nice drink on a balmy evening.

- A Best Mac and Cheese Quest

This is SUCH a good idea.

9) Discovery Cove was incredibly amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was a perfect way to spend an entire day completely relaxing. I do think someday I'll go back.

I'm SO glad you had such a nice experience here. It really is hard to explain just how lovely it is, or why it's worth it, but I completely agree with your review.

MNSSHP party is still WAY better than the Christmas party.

Agreed.

Have you ever seen Mr. Potato Head lose his ear?!! I can hear Mrs. Potato Head now, "You never listen!!"

Yes, it literally popped off while I was standing in line.

Looks like I never commented here. I read the wrap up and I guess I just got overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information and lovely photos.

Looking forward to your new report, hopefully I'll make it over there soon! I noticed you have an update.

Hi Susan!

finally finding time to dig myself out of the very deep hole I'm in here on the DIS! It was a lovely trip full of very high highs and some pretty stinky lows. But more on that later... on the other thread...

Really hope everything goes well with your AP when you are there next week!

It did. After a quick check-in with Guest Services, I was able to get it all confirmed that everything was in order and no glitches the whole rest of the trip. :)

Still seriously considering it for July. I know you can't use it on the 4th but are there other blockout dates?

THat is a good question! I hadn't really looked into it at all since I don't see myself going close to dates that might be? What did you find out?

So looking forward to Brunch at the Top after your wonderful review!

You will love it! It was no less special at all this time and I expect it to be whenever I might make it there again.

I really enjoyed the Peter Pan float too and need to try that cinnamon roll!

I sadly didn't get one this trip! Sept for sure!

Taking a page from your book on this one in July!

YAY!!!

A lot of these are on my list too.....

My list is always morphing as I get some knocked off the list or Disney adds something new...

Disneybounding makes everything better!

YES!! Will be doing some in Sept for sure!

This is why I love Disney....so many clever and subtle details!

Another wonderful trip report completed! Thanks for sharing your trip and entertaining me. I'm looking forward to the Girls Trip!

Thank you Vanessa! It's always fun to relive my trips through my photos and writing and it's even better to share them with friends along the way. More girl's trip posts coming up soon...

Oh my. Sounds like the college program at work. You would think someone working at a camera shop would be given some basic knowledge.

You'd sure think so. But actually that "camera shop" is not much more than some frames for photos, SC cards, and more crap from China. You'd sure think that for a place that is one of the top photographed places on the planet, there'd be a better place to get some REAL camera needs!

I would agree. I love the back stories of Harambe and Dinoland (despite not liking the area I do like the story behind it)

I love the backstory for Disney Springs as well, and while I don't *love* the backstory for Pandora, the area is aesthetically my favorite in all of WDW.

I really need to put that on my radar. I think my Italian loving family would enjoy it.

And you'd pay less than what you did at Pizzafari. ;)

I hope they still have it on the menu when I do another trip. I would like another.

Me too!

I must be sure to get one next time and compare it to Gaston’s.

It's a must do... for research of course.

If I go back to Moderate I think I would seriously consider French Quarter.

Quaint, clean, small, and themed well are definite bonuses.

As you know I’ve done many with my girls, but generally they meet and I stand back. I think I would find them a bit awkward as an adult doing them myself. The Disney bounding helps to have something to talk about.

And generally I do too. I"m just not that witty IRL to come up with on the fly small talk. At least with Bounding, you can have that.

Definitely! I never noticed this. Glad you pointed it out.

There are sight gags like that ALL over the place at every park. Love it!

No. Much shorter. Therefore... more manageable?

Yes, I'd think so...

Nah. Just means you have a nice breeze. Like a convertible.

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Life in prison, I believe?
Could be worse...
Like Henry Bemis in Season 1; Episode 8.

I always feel so incredibly sad for him when I watch that episode.

 I hope you didn't fake it through nursing school!!!

Surely they at least taught you how to play cards???

Heh, we'd be in SIMLab and have no clue what to do next, we yeah, we'd stall for time by listening to heart and lung sounds. Can't ever do that enough...:lmao:

Flashcards? Yes, we "played" plenty of "cards". :teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher::teacher:

:)
Well, not a coffee drinker. But it certainly sounds wonderful. All you need is someone to fetch it for you. Maybe a chocolate croissant, too.

Yes. Or Concierge level. LOL!

Yes! Had today off (but was busy...) and then the weekend and Monday before I leave stupid early on Tuesday.

It's the inevitable way Disney trips seem to start out. :sad2:

As a nurse that's probably automatic.

I must wash about 200 times a work day and don't even know it.

Just watch out for who grabs the reins.

LOL!! Yeehaw!!

Yay! Headed there now. :)

I see you're there! Thanks for reading!

:lmao: You're kidding! She works at a camera store.... and doesn't know what a tripod is????

I KNOW! Like, seriously?!

You can't make this stuff up!

TR's always seem to just write themselves!

Yes, I couldn't believe it took you that long! So much effort!

Worth it!

Good to know! I'm considering getting it. :)

I see you did!! Welcome to the I-should-probably-go-again-to-make-it-worth-it Club.

And they're building new ones... you may never finish!

I know! Need more trips!

It sounded just wonderful. Maybe some day...

I hope you get to go. It's very beautiful.

No particular order? That's a cop out!

It's just too hard!

Wow! Nice sharp photo there! In a not easy to get situation.

Super hard. And requires loads of luck.

Beautiful. But you knew I'd say that. ;)

That shot took a very long time to get. Take it, adjust settings. Take another. Nope, reframe it. Take another, adjust settings... again and again.

Great framing!

Thanks!

Yeah... she's hard to capture. Perhaps impossible.

Impossible. Unless you break down there.

Um... well.. that's not something you see every day!

Nope!!

Okay!
And thanks so much for this really fun and entertaining TR!! :)

You are very welcome! I hope the next one will be as entertaining with as many good photos and stories. :)

It probably takes a little bit to get used to, but I imagine the costuming department figured all of that out...can't have the soldiers tripping and falling on folks, now could we?
No, but it would be funny. Because I do have a sadistic streak. I mean not in a really get hurt way, but, well, it could be like a modern day Charlie Chaplin schtik!

But so must all bad things.

Yes, like the constitutional aftermath of 2 weeks of eating at Disney. Thank God, that has "passed". On a side note, TSA WILL confiscate your bottle of Phlips you just bought at the gift store.

Well, I guess I'd better head over to mark my spot after this!

Thanks for joining along... see you there!

Oh boy. Maybe not the best source of information...

NO, but always entertaining!

How many of these will you knock off on this trip?

Exactly 1. And only kinda.

I'll make sure I exit through the gift shop.

It's the Disney WAY!

This one caught my eye. Great shot.

Thanks Mark. I got some very nice keepers this time around!

This one, too.

Thanks for another highly entertaining TR! I always enjoy following your adventures. And I'm looking forward to finally meeting you soon!

You're very welcome! I enjoy my TRing a lot and am looking forward to sharing more.

Just shot you a PM and yes.... it'll be very nice to finally, after what? 10 years or so? meeting up. Even if briefly. :)

Oh my goodness, I've missed you both!

We try our best. ;)

I do care! Interesting little Liesa tidbit.

:goodvibes:joker:

Glad you enjoyed your meal. I can understand everything about this review. We're big fans of Citricos! But I think you've given it a very fair assessment.

Nice place, good food, but $$... in a nutshell... Narcoosees is next on the list to try at GF.

Oh. My. Gosh.

:rotfl::rotfl:

You just can't make this stuff up.

Hmmm...interesting. We're toying with getting one this summer, but since we don't drink alcohol we aren't sold yet. It depends on how many trip we think we'll take in the year. It definitely won't pay for itself on just our August trip. It probably would in two trips. Definitely in three.

NO, you need 3 trips and you also need to be doing TS to pay it off. If you do just CS the majority of your time, it's just not worth it.

This was soo lovely! Highly highly recommend! Especially for someone who enjoys the "sauntering" pace, Animal Kingdom knowledge, and a nice drink on a balmy evening.

Sold. totally doing it soon.

This is SUCH a good idea.

I adore mac and cheese and the boutique style of the varities that are popping up all over Disney prop makes it an intriguing challenge.

I'm SO glad you had such a nice experience here. It really is hard to explain just how lovely it is, or why it's worth it, but I completely agree with your review.

I want to go back!

GREAT SHOT!!!!!!! I keep trying and have yet to even come close. I was close, the ride vehicle stopped but not close enough....

Thanks, Pat! :) Lovely to see you posting here too! Miss you!

Yeah, unless you get stopped, she turns out rather ghostly. ;)

Looks like I never commented here. I read the wrap up and I guess I just got overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information and lovely photos.

No worries, Alison! :) I myself have about 20 threads I'm still behind on; catching up is daunting at this point. Making progress, but still...

Looking forward to your new report, hopefully I'll make it over there soon! I noticed you have an update.

See you there!
