Strollers in the Hallways at Resorts

Seen lots of complaints lately on other social media about this. It is rude to leave anything in the hallway. I don't even leave room service/dishes in hallway.

I can't imagine that this isn't a Fire Code issue and I would probably complain to the front desk about it .... or take it to front desk and tell them someone left their stroller unattended.

In Disney words ....

"Prohibited Activity: Obstructing sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls or landings."

In the parks, you can't just leave your stroller anywhere, you have to put it in stroller parking. If you leave it somewhere else, they will move it to stroller parking for you. Same principle should apply here. If you leave youR stroller in the hallway, you'll have to go retrieve it from baggage check or something.

We returned a week ago from our stay at BCV and I was thinking the same thing. I don’t remember on previous trips seeing strollers and ECVs being regularly parked in the halls. My daughter tripped over an ECV while trying to get out of another family’s way.

We were in a studio last week, and there was plenty of room for our stroller (opened, we didn’t even need to fold it) to be kept out of our way in the room. In a 1 or 2 BR we have even more room to accommodate and if needed, the closet is plenty large enough for a stroller as well. There’s no reason for leaving it in the hallway for others to trip over and I’m surprised it’s being allowed. Sadly it will probably take an accident or enough complaints for them to do anything about it.

There were 2 strollers in out hallway at the Poly this week. And one stroller sat under the stairs outside - It was sitting there the whole time we were there. I was surprised no one took them.

The only reason I can fathom people would need to do this may be because I keep reading how the love-bugs are so bad this year, maybe they are worried the strollers have some hidden on them?

Otherwise I can't imagine the reason someone would give for leaving their stroller in hallway.

That’s annoying. I haven’t seen much of this yet. Before DVC daily trash pickup, people used to just leave their big garbage bags of trash in the hallway instead of walking it to the garbage disposal area. That was gross. Maybe people miss leaving stuff in the hallway :)

We always bring our stroller into our room or villa and wouldn’t have ever considered otherwise. There’s always plenty of room for it, even in a studio or standard room. We have a decently sized double stroller and usually just fold it and leave it inside our door - we did that at BWV in January. 4 of us staying in the studio and it wasn’t in the way at all. I would not want to leave it in the hallway for fear of someone taking it, and also because it’s just not necessary and it is an annoyance to others. We were also just in a Westin last week with pretty compact rooms and again, we just folded our double stroller inside our doorway.

Could be. Or if it’s wet from rain? If our stroller is wet after a downpour , we just roll the stroller into our room and keep it unfolded by the door to dry out. I have 2 little kids, we travel with them often, and I can’t think of a reason why I would leave our stroller in the hallway.

Another thought as to why I wouldn't leave a stroller out in the hallway- thieves pay attention to things like this. Some of these strollers are very expensive, which could signal to someone that you might have a lot of valuables or cash in your room or on your person. Others have already covered the surprise that the strollers themselves haven't been stolen.

It can also kind of announce when you're in the room or not if someone wanted to pay attention. I'm not overly paranoid about travel and theft but I travel often enough to know to be aware of my surroundings and avoid inviting trouble. I'm also not saying this outcome is highly likely but it isn't impossible either.

I'm loving this idea.

Before DVC daily trash pickup, people used to just leave their big garbage bags of trash in the hallway instead of walking it to the garbage disposal area.

FWIW I saw the housekeepers doing this sort of thing while mid-way through cleaning. Same as them leaving baskets of sheets etc outside of doors in the early morning, in anticipation of cleaning later.

If you are driving into furniture, you shouldn't be using a scooter. You drive it into the room and leave it by the door.
Really! With a lot of the deluxe room layouts, you cannot "just leave it by the door" inside. When we had our stroller we had to take it towards the balcony to park it because of the small area by the door. AKL, GF, POLY just to name 3.
Edit: BTW, I think they still need to be kept in the room and not left in the hallway.

I saw this for the first time last year when I stayed at Pop Century - I had never noticed it before as much. I don't think people are feeling entitled or holier than thou - I just think someone checks in and sees these items in the hallway and thinks it is ok so they do the same if they are squeezed for space at all. When you see everyone else doing it then you think it is ok or perhaps preferred if you do it too. If the resorts would spend some time placing a note on the items or post info in the hallway or remind guests at check in please bring these items into their rooms, I think it would solve much of the problem. Perhaps offer to send someone to help move or remove furniture in the smaller rooms if guests cannot fit the ECV (or stroller - seems like strollers fold up or they used to when I used them).

It would be interesting to know if housekeeping is indeed asking people to leave their ECV's out in the hallway - I've had a housekeeper ask me to do that at the GF a few years ago so I know it happens.

We have seen ECV's in the hallway before. While I don't care for it, I can understand this more than the strollers because they take up a decent amount of space. And I think they need to be plugged in too, right? So they'd need to be parked by an outlet. There's usually outlets in the hallway.

The strollers I understand less. Someone can easily walk off with it. And don't most strollers fold up? Save for the rental ones at the park, but I'd have to imagine any stroller people rent or bring from home folds up and can be more easily stored in the room. Sounds like laziness.
