As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi all! I'm back! :)

Got an upcoming 3-night stay for my birthday trip pre-cruise! Here is its history...

Poly Standard to Poly Studio to Poly Standard to Poly Studio to AKL Standard to CBR Standard...

...and as of yesterday to POP Standard.

I think I'm good. :)

I half jokingly told my TA I'm giving up room (and cruise and cruise cabin) changes for Lent...so she's got about 40 days of freedom from me. :P

I also cannot make a decision to save my life, which is not a good combo at all. When we first started the trip (4 adult friends), we booked at Beach Club because I always wanted to stay there. Once the military discounts were released, we had to move to Yacht Club as no discounts were available at BC. I wasn't too confident though that we would be comfortable staying in a small room. We reluctantly downgraded to Art of Animation in a family suite. Boom! Free dining came out! We dropped the military discount and swapped to the free dining promotion, as it was a bigger discount and upgraded to the Deluxe plan. During a previous trip, I stayed at Art of Animation and I really wasn't a fan. Because of that, I kept getting a gut feeling that AoA was not going to make me happy. I found myself staying up late, constantly checking the prices of other Disney resorts. I finally took the dive one night. Following my gut, I canceled AoA and booked a one-bedroom at Kidani Village. To compensate for the price hike, we dropped down to the regular dining plan.

Now, we are 5 months away and I am now considering moving again, either getting two rooms at a moderate, moving to BLT, or moving to OKW. Ugh. Why am I like this?

Wow! I just stumbled across this thread this morning, and it’s so nice to know I’m not the only one so incapable of making concrete lodging decisions! :D I have been planning our first trip to Disney for years now, and something has always come up after I made reservations and caused us to cancel. I’m proud to say we are traveling in May, rain or shine. After literally changing reservations from CBR to POR to WL to FW and back again, I finally decided a split stay was the only way I could make a decision and move forward. So, as of today, we are booked DVC AKL-Kidani, FW cabins, and DVC BRV for our stay in May.

A three-way split stay?! How long is your trip?

Happy Spring changers!!! @trishadono encouraged me to get myself back on the DIS so here I am. My AP expires this June, and we are still on a "budget" so we don't have a big family trip this year BUTTTTTTT

in April hubs and I are headed to Flower and Garden staying at BWI CL <3

in May I will take my DD12 down to WL CL for her 13th birthday. We are trying EMM at MK and TSL!!!

Then Sept. is HHN at Universal with hubby!

Of course, I have a Frontier credit, and flights were released for Winter soooooooooooo

Happy New Year everyone!

We finally did book and right now (LOL) are staying at the BC. I say right now as I am just waiting to see what my bonus brings me this year :rolleyes1. Worse case, we'll come down to a moderate, most likely CSR and we'll shoot for a room in the new tower. My youngest DD is studying to be a nurse and after having no vacation last year and be stressed to the max with the nursing program, she's soooo looking forward to this upcoming trip and has already said she could care less where we stay. Really hoping we keep our BC ressie, but no matter where we end up, just happy to be heading back to our "happy place" :).
Yay, she deserves a break...nursing school is INTENSE! Still at BC?

Yeah, I don’t think WDW has any value seasons anymore. Prices are crazy! I priced out late August and it was sticker shock! For the first time in a long time I’m not going for Labour Day. We’re booked for a Universal trip in April instead at Royal Pacific. I’ve stayed at HRH & Portofino, Royal Pacific is next on the list! I love tropical theme.

Congrats on BC. We booked Universal to celebrate my youngest getting her Bachelors of Social Work in late April.
I remember her in Florida when she was 19, legal age here to drink and when she found out she wasn’t in Florida her look was comical.
With the recent Star Wars announcement, there would be no way I would go to WDW Labor Day this year. But that's totally preference. I HATE crowds and that doesn't outweigh my love for Star Wars unfortunately. Enjoy Spring Break at RPR!!!

The rooms at Pop are great!!!

Because you want the best vacation! WE GET IT!!! Kidani is amazing and the space YASSSSSSS! I wouldn't go to a moderate with two rooms honestly. OKW is great too, so maybe make it about price....two factors...boat to Disney Springs so if you plan on going there a bunch, AND internal bus stops. Kidani shares sometimes with AKL but no where else, OKW has a lot of internal stops. Just food for thought.

WOWZA

Personally, I would try to cut it down to just two. It can be stressful moving rooms. Also, it will allow you to really get comfortable in your resorts and maybe unpack a little bit.
^^^this I know it's preference, but it isn't the best being homeless at Disney. IMO.

Hi @pas130 ! I think we’ll miss spring break crowds, we arrive at RPH 4/29. It’s a grad present for youngest dd, graduates with a Bachelors of Social Work.
I have a low tolerance for crowds too.
For the first time in years we aren’t going to WDW for labour day specials. I looked at the rates and said yuck. WDW is getting ridiculously expensive. For the same price as a WDW moderate we have a Universal Deluxe Resort. It’s getting harder to justify going to WDW.

We have a res in Sept at HRH, going with my friend but due to family concerns we may have to cancel and reschedule. Holding on to my res. Until I know. We booked pool view rooms.

Speaking of Star Wars, my oldest has off work the 1st 2 weeks of August, and wanted to go to WDW, but I told her no way I’m going early Aug with those prices. And crowds. So we compromised and going to DL. Got 5 day hopper. I’m afraid DL is going to be crazy with Star Wars, Galaxy Edge will be open. So I’m going with low expectations.

When I know for sure if we’ll be at HRH in Sept I’ll let you know. Maybe our dates will overlap!

Congrats to your DD!! Excellent gift by the way! I think DL will be fine, their Maxpass system is great and they are giving times for entry to Galaxy Wdge. At least for the first month or two. I’m not sure if it’s only for resort guests or not. SO true about Uni!!! Even with their prices rising, you get so much more for your $$$ too bad we all are in love with the Mouse to ever permanently leave him ❤️

We arrive after the reservation times for Galaxy Edge. Guess it will be a free for all. I love the Max Pass option, but won’t help for new attraction. I believe it’s excluded. We’ll try to rope drop it one day but I get the feeling we’ll be spending a lot of time at DCA!
Thank you, youngest has worked hard. She’ll be going for masters next. I think she’ll work a couple of years then do masters.

We’re looking forward to RPH. Never stayed there. Last stay was Portofino. With a 10 day stay, getting an AP. So will eek in another trip, hopefully in Sept but if not later on before AP exp.

I wish I could. I am staying on rented points for two of the stays...no ability to cancel or change. So, now we make the most of it.

I started with CSR in the new Tower, jumped to BC and now at GF for our August trip...I’m exhausted :rotfl2:.

Seriously, was convinced we were staying put at BC once I switched then our TA sent us an email that Disney needed to free up some rooms at the BC during our stay to accommodate a large convention and offered us GF for the same awesome price we had at BC.

Talked to the girls & let them decide seeing how this is most likely going to be our last trip to the world as a family of 4 and for a very long time for that matter. I was surprised when they said GF as I thought they wanted to be closer to Epcot...I was wrong! So much to celebrate on this trip - can’t wait!!! Oh and I’m done switching for good :)

Congrats! We love GF! We also got switched to GF when we had res at Poly. Then they announced volcano pool would be closed starting in Aug! So called TA and was offered GF at same price.
We loved it so much we booked GF twice more. Love how relaxed it is and great pools.
We’re in Ft lauderdale at the moment. Leaving Monday morning for Universal!

Beautiful day at the beach today! Time flys by. Tomorrow is our last day. Up bright & early Monday for the drive up to Universal.

Delta canceled my flight on my return trip, which resulted in me having to stay in a resort for one night by myself. The rest of my part will board DME around 4 PM. I will leave around 2 PM the next day. I booked a garden-view at POR, but then moved to a Boardwalk Inn standard view. Now I am considering moving to Boardwalk Villas, BLT, or Yacht Club. I don't have a park ticket for that night and I'm not sure if I will wind up getting one. Maybe I should downgrade and go back down to a moderate. Thoughts? Opinions? I know it's only one night and I will most likely just catch up on some sleep and hang around the resort, but at the same time, it's only one night, why not splurge?

You’re staying at AKL? Why not just extend your stay there? It’s a beautiful resort and a destination by itself! Probably BWI appeals the least to me. I love Por and YC/BC. If Bob Jackson is playing at POR that night I’d probably stay there.

My reservation at AKL is in a one bedroom dining package with 3 other adults, whose flights did not get canceled. I can move to a studio just by myself, but if I am going to have to move I would rather just experience a resort I've never stayed at. At this point, the list of resorts I've never stayed at is pretty long. (Have only stayed at the All-Stars, AKL, Coronado, and AoA)

Wow! It's been a long time since I've been on this thread! How is everyone doing? I've got 2 upcoming trips (one in August at Art of Animation) and the other in Sept at the new tower at CSR. I really don't do much resort changing anymore, now that we have pretty much stayed at them all. We are planning on another trip in Feb (for ODD sweet 16) and will stay at YC. After that, I am Team GF all the way. We have had 2 excellent stays there and it's my favorite by a long shot!

A reformed changer? I'm so glad one of us made it out of the cycle! Congrats! I'm considering moving over to GF for my trip.
