Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Thanks! We will be there in May and have one reserved half a day on our anniversary.
YC May 12-14
Caribbean Beach May14-18
Do you happen to know the AP discount on those? 10%-15%? May I ask, was your total for a half day under $200 with tax? Are you able to close the curtain on one side to make it more private?

Booked my half day cabana! I got the AP discount, but I had to ask for it & then insist it was real, after the CM told me there was no discount. I said I'd heard from multiple passholders that they had a 15% discount and she "double checked" and then said she saw it. I thought that was interesting, since when booking other things the CMs usually ask me if I'm DVC or AP to get any applicable discounts. Either way, I was able to have it applied.
With the discount did the total end up under $200 may I ask? I have a gift card and was thinking of using it for a half day cabana. Thanks

So we fly out of Chicago at 5:30 am and arrive at MCO at 9. Realistically we will be up at 2:45/3 am to catch that flight . We are planning on taking the ME to YC CL. I am thinking of renting a half day cabana 10 to 3 so we have somewhere to rest and get some shade. I know the lounge will be open for snacks and drinks but the resort has no rooms available the day before our check in so I am thinking our chances of an early check in is slim. Crazy I know but we are also hoping to purchase Villains After Hours for later that night hence the need for a place to rest. My questions are 1. What time do you think we will reach the resort? Due to utilizing the cabana fully.2.Should we just grab an Uber to get to the resort faster?3. Do you think I am completely insane to book too much on arrival day? 2 adults/2teenagers. We have no dining or fp booked till late evening at MK in anticipation of purchasing those tickets on 4/29.

Oh, interesting, I haven't heard of anybody who was thinking of going to the Villains After Hours Event once they realized that they could not get pictures or autographs with the villains. ("One Notorious Item to Note: Ever driven to stand out in their unpredictable and audacious fashion, while the Villains will be entertaining guests in the new stage show, they will not be participating in character greetings during the event.")

Good questions-

I only have experience with using ME to get to the resort- It typically takes about an hour and a half from landing, but it is probably best to plan for a couple of hours if that is the way you are traveling.

Another option, as you have noted, is Uber or you could arrange for a private ride. I don't remember the rules- is it a problem to use the luggage delivery service if you don't take the ME to the resort? I seem to remember that being a restriction, but not sure.

We always take the first flight out of Chicago, too, and it usually takes us about 1 1/2 hours to get from the airport to the BC/YC. The Magical Express usually the airport every 20 minutes at that time of the morning and travel time to the first resort stop, usually CBR, is about 35 minutes. Your total time will vary based on whether you just miss a bus or not.

Sometimes our room is ready when we arrive, but that is more likely to happen with a Wednesday arrival, rather than a weekend arrival. Most often our room is ready by 1:30 pm - 2 pm. We usually go into Epcot and get something to eat and do a few rides. Since we have to wake up at 3 am to make that flight we usually either take a nap or go to bed early that night. We really don't feel "normal" until the next day. :)

As @Wood Nymph said, it usually takes about 90 minutes to get to BC/YC via DME. I have read that you usually only save about 20 minutes by getting a ride since you do need to claim your own luggage if you don't take ME.
To answer your question I do think you are "completely insane" trying to book too much on arrival day.
In our experience, we need that afternoon/night to chill a bit and get to bed early in preparation for a long, wonderful week.

We are on exact same flight as you are, in a couple of weeks. We use a car service v.s. DME. Remember with the cabana rentals, for the early shift of 10-2, they ask that you check in at the pool area at 9:45. I doubt you'll make that. Why not do the cabana another day? There will be plenty of seats by the pool to relax in, while enjoying a late breakfast or early lunch while waiting for your room is ready text. Relax...you're on vacation:).

I just booked a whole day. They never mentioned a specific check in time . We will probably hit the cabana at 11 am . I better call to confirm it will still be there .I paid in full already so it hopefully say regardless of the the time we arrive. I did call an was told by signature services and another CM . The cabana is prepaid and ours no matter what time we arrive. They are making a notation that we will be utilizing it after 11:30 am.

Thanks for the info! That's good to know. We're prepaid for a 1/2 day, 3pm-7pm and were told to report by 2:45. I like that you can just tell'm that you'll be later than what they'd like. Totally agree...if it's paid for, what the heck difference should it make as to when you actually arrive?

Cabana update . Since we are hoping to arrive by 11:30 we booked a whole day . We figured we will sleep/rest/eat at the cabana from 11:30 till 5:30 pm . With the AP discount it was $270 for the whole day. They did make a notation on our reservation with the recreation staff we will be arriving late.
They said they like to be notified if arrival time if possible . So I am glad I called back to inform them

I just had a look at room rates. Is club level really $200 more per night in a garden view room? That's more of a jump than GF and CR!
Is it worth it if we're having 3 resort days?

Tough question. We've done club level many times but we're going in 2 weeks and decided to go non club this time. Only you can determine if the extra cost is worth it. Do you like your wine/beer? Do you enjoy noshing pretty much all day? Yes, it's expensive but depending on how you like to vacation you may find it's worth every penny.

So interesting start to our vacation. Weather delayed all the flights and we could not get another flight until 4:30 in the afternoon so I did what any good disser would do, I asked for our luggage back and I drove. Instead of getting in on ME around 11:30 we pulled into the port cochere at YC around 1:30.

FYI, as we sit on the bus on our way to MK, one of my favorite reasons to stay at YC vs BC during busy seasons is that YC is first on the bus route. We are sitting comfortably while the bus is jam packed with BC guests all standing.
