Notre Dame in Paris is basically destroyed :(
Regardless of personal beliefs, this building was beautiful piece of art. It's so sad to history lost.

I was just about to come post the same thing. I'm not a religious person at all, but can truly say I was in awe of the magnificence of the cathedral when my wife and I were in Paris a few years ago. Certainly a sad day and the loss of such a beautiful and powerful building. And as selfish as it may sound, I am definitely glad I got to see it before this happened. Hopefully they can rebuild it. Paris would never be the same without it.

I am absolutely heartbroken over this. As a historian this truly is a sad day for Paris and history over all. That amazing building has survived political upheavals, wars, and years of the elements and to just have that all gone in the space of a feed hours is truly sad. I have been lucky enough to see this place twice and I hope they are able to save something from the original building.

@dis_or_dat not sure if you got to watch, but how excited are you? I could not believe how assume it was. i can't wait.

I’m actually freaking out a little knowing that the disboard is going to follow along! Talk about pressure!!!!! :scared:

It’s funny. I liked following updated posts on different running forums - I could feel the excitement and loved seeing everyone support the runners as they made their moves. But I definitely want to watch that final men’s sprint, sounded amazing! I’ll be watching some clips tonight especially since I finished GOT last night. I wonder what percentage of runners watched GOT yesterday. At least that’s not an issue next year!

How excited are you?!

How excited are you?!

I was watching at work in the break room and people started coming in for lunch. They would say things like, look how fast they are? How far is it? Then they would see me (i am known for running) and say are you going to run there? i would sort of shout YES next year. it was so amazing. i am so excited. Now i want to get faster but am not really training for something specific right now. I have been battling an over use injury for about a month now. Trying to take it easy. Therapy is helping and i feel like in another month or two i will be healthy and then i can start training. I am planning the Peachtree Road Race 10k July 4 and then the Atlanta 10 miler in Oct.

I put all my training eggs into one marathon basket, so was very fortunate to BQ. My DH is itching to take the kids skiing a lot next winter and renting treadmill-less cabins with friends and has really pushed that I stop training for races. Plus school has a ski week in February, so I’m just going to go out and enjoy the course. :)

But I might try to sneak a half marathon in the interim and maybe DH will get excited as Boston approaches to agree to some training... :D

I’m looking forward to you getting healthy and crushing Boston!!!

QOTD: Who has two thumbs and going to be very unproductive for the first half of the day today while watching the marathon...

ATTQOTD: THIS GUY!

All jokes aside, it's like super bowl Sunday for me!

Me! I had the race in a separate browser window much of the day. Great races by the elites and good to see our DISers do so well too!

So Boston.....most definitely not my day. I honestly wasn't sure that I would finish. My hip flexors were bad and other stuff kept cropping up. The temp got warm for a while. I ended up run/walking miles 11-21. After that, I ran it into the finish. The cloud cover and rain came back, which helped. I had to laugh because I specifically tried to train for hills and ended up walking all of them!

I was glad to just finish. I bought gear at the expo and no way in hell would I wear it if I didn't finish!

This race rivals Goofy 2013 as my worst marathon time ever. But I finished, so that is still something. I will consider it a mental victory.

Thank you checking in on us!

Posting from my phone, so hopefully I can keep the errors to a minimum!

Thanks for all the well-wishers and support! Congratulations to @jmasgat , @croach , and @Wendy98 for finishing!

It turned out to be a hotter day than most expected, including me, but it was an amazing experience as always. The people of the Boston area did their usual incredible job of cheering on the runners, as well as passing out water, fruit, ice, etc. Just the best crowd I've ever encountered. Can't wait to be back next year and excited for the DISers running in 2020! Thanks again all.

ATTQOTD: I've been goofing off in Hilton Head and Charleston (did manage to get some runs in). I went on national news blackout during vacation and it felt so good, I've continued it.

Lack of news and the fact that Monday is my big exercise day, I completely missed that it was Patriot's Day. I didn't realize it until I logged onto the DIS and saw the chatter about status of runners.
