Disney Wonder 14-night Westbound Panama Canal March 6th, 2020

Hello all! We're officially cruising with yall now. We booked back while we were pregnant (my due date was March 8th), and we were eagerly awaiting the birth of our daughter. She decided to arrive a little early, so we're good to cruise! We are the Cottrell family from GA: Sarah, Clint (DH), Adelaide (DD4 at time of cruise), Eliana (DD1 at time of cruise). PC cruise has been on our bucket list, and it usually doesn't work out because of husband's work schedule so we're excited to join yall!

How come I can't find this cruise on the DCL site? Is it sold out??
When I searched the other day and included kids (2 adults and 2 kids)it was not showing up —which could mean that the kids spaces are at capacity or lifeboats for full. When I repeated the search without the kids (2 adults) there were Inside GTY available.

What do you put in for the search criteria?

I searched for 2 adults, March 2020, leaving New Orleans on the Wonder and still nothing comes up for this 14-nighter. (With that search, only a 4-nighter to Cozumel shows up.)

I just searched (on my phone) March 2020, Panama Canal cruise (under destination) for two adults and it’s showing inside staterooms available for approximately $5300. It showed up on the main page, but when I confirmed my travel party it said that the cruise was not available for my travel party.

Mostly sold out, but if you keep checking back, spots might open up.

I first looked at this cruise when it was released, but initially decided against. Can't remember why now. I think it was a combination of travel fatigue (we'd travelled quite a bit in the year prior), the vacation time, and the expense. Reconsidered a few weeks ago when planning for 2020 March Break started to become a priority and my family's consensus preference was for a cruise. The cruises available on the other three DCL ships during the same timeline were either too short or too overpriced (or both) for my tastes. At first I couldn't figure out where Wonder went, because there seemed to be a gap in it's schedule for mid-March. Then I realized that it was the WBPC and must be sold out. Checked back daily, and within a couple of days there were some cat 10 and cat 9D GTY rooms posted. I grabbed one (party of 4), then kept looking. A week or so later I was able to upgrade to a 9C GTY.

Since then I still check periodically, just out of interest. We'll probably stick with the 9C anyway. I've seen a couple of more expensive options (family verandahs, both regular and concierge), and more inside rooms. Sometimes they're ghosts (ie. if you try to actually select them it'll say it's unavailable), but if you're persistent and not too picky you'll probably be able to pick something up eventually.

Good luck!

Hello! We are booked on this cruise as well. It will be our 3rd (we've done the Fantasy Western Caribbean and the Wonder to Alaska). DH and I have four kids (DD-15, DS-13, DS-11, DS-8). Sooo excited to do a 14 night as the 7 nights aren't nearly long enough!

Hey y'all! I had an awesome anniversary surprise today! My DH gave me (us) passage on this cruise for our 30th anniversary next year! It has been a bucket list for us for quite a while. The last time we cruised DCL was Christmas 2005. We bought DVC shortly after our last cruise and have been spending a LOT of time in the parks. We have 3 trips lined up for this year starting in May.

But, we are Butch and Diane from Suwanee, GA; a suburb north of Atlanta. Our DD is a Disney College Program alumni and has been married a little over a year. DD and DSIL will not be joining us on this trip ;-) We are looking at travelling to Anaheim when we get off the boat to spend a couple days at Disneyland. Is there a bus from San Diego to DL like Canaveral to WDW?

Anyway, hi! I'm so excited for this trip!!!

Welcome to the cruise!! We live in Senoia, GA (down on the other side of ATL), and we’re DVC also! What is your home resort? Our home resort is AK.

We split between Bay Lake an AK.

Small world, I went to HS at Fayette County High and some of my family lives in Griffin. I'm acquainted with your neck of the woods! :-)

Small world indeed! On our last cruise we met a family that lives just outside Cobb county (I can’t remember the town) and he’s a police office in Cobb.

We haven’t stayed at AK for about 3 years, so we’re heading there in August. Last year we did Aulani, and it was fantastic!

Hello!! This will be our 4th spring-break Disney cruise. It will be DH, DD(11), DS(9), and myself. We are taking an extra week off from school because how many people can say they sailed through the Panama Canal? Hoping it will be something to remember for the kids, and it’s a major bucket list item for DH. Curious if any of the other kids will be missing some school? We will pack homework, but still.....(minor parental guilt).

The cruise was sold out when DH suggested we look into it. Snatched up a guaranteed, inside room randomly, but hoping we might be able to upgrade as others decide to cancel. At least we are on the ship. I’m looking forward to learning from each of you - I discovered this board while researching the PC itinerary.

My kids (11 and 14 next year) will miss a week. Actually 6 days. Maybe 7, depending on what flights I can line up to New Orleans - not the easiest place to get to for us.

I booked because I thought it would line up perfectly with my kids' 2-week March Break, but their school schedule for next year was just released and their break has shifted forward a week. :( Usually it starts during the second full week in March, but next year it will be the third week. March 1 next year falls on a Sunday, and I guess they must base it on the second Saturday of the month.

Anyhow, we're all kind of invested in going now, so we'll likely go anyway. This will be the first time we've ever pulled them from school for more than a day or two, but that's always been more for practical reasons than academic or principle. They get more vacation than most kids to start with, so we've always been able to schedule our vacations within those windows. I'm telling myself that if they're going to miss school, the week before their break is probably one of the better times. My son's grade 6 class will mostly just be catching up on any outstanding work. My daughter might miss more in grade 9, but she knows ahead of time, so she can make sure any major deliverables are done early. They go to a small school, so we can work with the teachers to make sure they're not missing anything important, and they are lucky to have a whole extra week after we get back to catch up, so they won't have to do homework while we're away.

You can see how hard I'm working to justify it though!

Good luck! I did basically the same. Haven't seen any regular verandahs come available, but I think your odds of an upgrade at least to Oceanview are good if you keep checking frequently.

Hi! A little early (or not), but I need to start researching hotels so it’s not last minute. I need a place to stay in New Orleans with two young kids. I don’t think we will be getting in that early, so I’m wondering if a hotel near the airport is best. I see some offer transportation to the terminal. Or, we would gladly walk. Just wondering if anyone has any input. I have seen chatter elsewhere, but it sounded like they weren’t necessarily traveling with kids. Really can’t wait for this trip, it will be our third PC and my DH wondered recently how many people will raise their eyebrows at us taking this trip again! Ha!

It's not too early. It's a week after Mardi Gras and there's a lot of spill over. Word is some hotels are already booking up.

We will miss the last day before spring break and then the week after. I'm not too worried about the kids academically, but the state is pretty strict. My paranoid self is worried we will get a visit from the truant officer. :eeyore: Oh well. I guess we will keep our time off to a minimum next year. We usually skip from time to time to travel but never a whole week at a time. I can't wait!

Many hotels do not have their updated schedules out yet for next March so do not despair. I will be staying smack dab in the middle of the French Quarter if all goes well. I have some must-do restaurants to go to and I want to check out the NCIC-New Orleans tapings or some of the locales they use for the show.(also I love Scott Bakula!):lovestruc
