Just finished our trip to WDW and the only ride i could not get a FP for was sdmt.

Nada at my 60 day mark.

Wait times were always 90+ and i wasn't going to wait that long.

What did i miss?

What are the FP strategies for next time?

Did you book your FP at 60 days and then leave them alone or did you check often to see if 7DMT became available? Did you check the app when you were at MK? Wait times are inflated a lot of the time but especially in the last hour or so of the day. You probably could have gotten in line 5 minutes before closing and not waited a horrible amount of time.

Go at park close. Usually no more than 20 min wait as all the FP's are done for the day.

That is what I plan to do one day. I normally only have the time to go in the morning / day, not night time. However, next time an opportunity presents itself I'm going to try during Fantasmic. Normally, if I get a chance to do night time only, I go over to AK to do FOP when AK is closing and everyone is at ROL show.

How does it compare to SDD? I did get a FP for SDD but wasn't impressed.

I love the video. It’s a quick pick me up to watch when I need my Disney fix, especially any with my Dad and Grandson in them! We enjoy the ride :-)

Not much. It's fun. We try to get fastpasses, but it certainly doesn't make or break my trip. If you get a fastpass, great; if not, move on. It's actually better after dark. You can feel the side-to-side movement more.

I liked SDD okay, it just didn't seem worth all the hype and chatter. it was fun, but we did have a FP for it so we didn't have to wait.

I would not wait long for SDD.

IMO part of the reason its so popular is because it is 1. A relatively newer ride and 2. Located in the MK.

Is it a fun ride. Yes!

Is it a must-do ride. No.

It’s a must do for me each trip but only with a FP. Otherwise I would follow PPs advise and aim for closing time. I see it as a replacement for Snow Whites Adventure. It gives me my fill of 7Ds. I would still make a point of riding that if it still existed.

Honestly, I think the best part of the ride is the interactive queue, and don't you miss that with FP?

The animatronics are cute, and I definitely think it's great that they have coasters younger kids can go on - but compared to other coasters, I don't think there's much to the ride itself.

Can’t miss it if I’ve never seen it. Honestly the comparisons between 7DMT and the other coasters is misguided in my opinion. Other than for nostalgias sake I compare it to SWSA or Mr Toad for replacement value. (I know WtP replaced Mr Toad)

You’re not missing much. It’s about like SDD. SDD is better. We waited 25 minutes once when 7DMT first opened, but that would be my limit.
