Disney Magic - September 15 2019 - WBTA - Dover to NYC

Bought our plane tickets to London so feels official. We unfortunately cant stay in NYC so are leaving same day. Would a 2:30 pm flight home be safe you think?
I've cruised out of NYC twice. The first time we had a 10 am flight. We were at the airport by 830. The second time was a 130 flight. We left the ship at 900 walked up to times square and got a Uber from there. We still had 3 hours to kill at the airport. I would not want to take a 1430 flight unless you really like spending time in airport. I plan on booking an 1130 flight this go around. It's a weekday, but I feel pretty comfortable getting the airport around 10am. We have tsa precheck.

I would pick the airport that DCL has the shuttle to. I think it’s LGA.

However, 2:55 is well after DCL’s given time, so I do think you will be OK either way because it is not rush hour.

Just for reference, LYFT would charge $70 to LGA, and $110 to JFK.
DCL shuttles to JFK and LGA. Lyft to EWR is around 70.00

Does anyone know the cost of shuttle?

Have been looking through port adventures in Cobh (Cork). Looking at the descreptions of some adventures, we will arrive at the Cobh cruise liner terminal, at the center of the small town.

I also was googling to do perhaps some stuff on my own and via some searches, I came on the website: Port of Cork, cruise schedule 2019.
On september 17 th we are together with The Nieuw Statendam in Cobh and according through the website The Magic will be mooring at Ringaskiddy Ferry Terminal i.s.o. Cobh cruise liner terminal.

Made some background (google) checks about Ringaskiddy but there is very little to do and only 1 public transportation every half hour.

It seems we are stuck with Port Adventures or stay on the boat!

Have you thought about renting a car? We’ve reserved a car with Enterprise and they are going to pick us up at port. We’re actually doing this at all the ports this cruise.

Back from our Panama Canal cruise, so its time to start on this one. :flower1:
I called DCL to ask which hotels they will have shuttles available for port drop off.
Whew, their prices are double what booking on our own would be.

If anyone is interested
Choices are:
Hilton Gatwick Airport
Hyatt Regency Churchill
JW Marriott Grovesnor

No hotels at LHR? I’ve seen people post about the Doubletree Victoria is that not an option this year?
I guess I’m going to have to call again. I wonder if this is one those cases where you get different answers from different cast members.

Hmmmm.... I'm not sure, I told her we were arriving via Gatwick, so maybe thats why she gave me those 3 options.

We booked Hilton Gatwick on our own because I had points. We plan on taking the train to London for a day. Wish it was for longer, but one day will be better than zero. :)

I did call today. The hotels you posted are correct plus the Sofitel at LHR. Someone on another thread a week ago stated that her TA booked their transportation from the Double tree Victoria. I know from reading last years threads this was an option. I asked. I was told no....accurate or fake news. I'm not sure. I was also told you have to stay in one of the hotels to get transportation from them. Again not sure if this is accurate. I've been told otherwise in the past

I'll call again in a few days and ask another Cast member. I think I'll try asking if there's transportation from central London and not from the Double tree since the Double tree isn't one of their hotels. Transfers can be added up to three days before cruise so really no hurry to pick a hotel. I was going to stay near LHR, but now I'm considering a couple days in London. I've been there before but there's still a lot to see.

The last time I cruised out of Dover I took the train. That's another option. The Double tree is across the street from the Victoria train station. The Double tree is not cheap, but it's a little more reasonable than the ones Disney is offering. It's around 300.00 usd per night.

Transfers from NYC to LGA or JFK are 45.00pp.

On top of the $300 there are taxes and fees too.
Maybe cause its London, and paying with US funds not sure.
Our room was $342, plus $96 in fees which included the VAT % too.

The JW Marriott is 352 gdp 462.00 usd and the doubletree was 252 gdp 335 usd. Both of these included all the taxes. These rates are with AAA.

I just read a few days ago that airlines are cracking down on this. Look at iceland air and Norwegian air they have good one way flights.
We're flying into Paris Sept 13th using XL from EWR direct to CDG airport for 220.00 a person one way which includes assigned seats. Planning on taking the on off bus in Paris. Spending the night in Paris & then the next
day taking the Euro train to.....haven't figured out where to stay the night before

A 2:30 flight should be safe (as long as you know how you're getting to the airport of choice).

Hello all! This is our third DCL trip but first transatlantic and first time traveling abroad. I'm mildly stressing over what I need to prepare for international travel. Being a cruise, most of our time and money will be taken care of but what about our 1 night stay in London before embarkation and our excursions? Do we need to exchange currencies? Are there any other tips the veterans can provide?
I usually exchange some $$ to have cash for incidentals that I can't use a card for. It can always be exchanged back (except for coinage) when you get home.
