Onward to TDR! March 2019 Exercise Thread

Then we can get ready for the daytime parade. Dreaming Up!

Definitely the best parade! (I want to be a princess on that stained glass float!!) I loved the character choices and the in-between entertainers, too.

And kudos to TDR for starting off with a song from Pete's Dragon! (I loved the old movie so much as a kid that I haven't seen the new one for fear of spoiling it.)

And if we want to save space, we should leave at least half of the group members waiting (from some accounts, it's not allowed for one person to save space for more than one other person).

I actually kind of like that rule - allows for bathroom trips, but not for 8 people to suddenly be in front of you in what looked like a decent spot when you chose it.

Anything with Huey, Dewey, and Louie I'm in for Camp Woodchuck Kitchen is my vote!

You don't see them a lot, so it's cool that they are featured.

I liked Peter Pan and Wendy. And the steampunkiness of some floats.

Congratulations to me and the team for turning Cookie Orange!

Since we're visiting TDR now, we'll be able to catch the Grand Finale of the 35th Anniversary Happiest Celebration. The Celebration started on April 15, 2018, and ends on March 25.

Some of the features of the Celebration include:

New entertainment (including the Dreaming Up! parade and new nighttime spectacular at Disneyland)
Special merchandise (such as the Happiest Celebration! collection, the 35 Years of Memories collection, and Duffy Marching Band merchandise)
Special snacks
Special decorations, especially in the World Bazaar area (the World Bazaar is the equivalent of Main Street, but it's covered with a pavilion roof to protect against Tokyo's weather)
Confetti parties in the World Bazaar area, twice daily
Projection show in the World Bazaar nightly
35 golden Happiest Mickey statues throughout the two parks

Also, it's a small world reopened after a year-long refurbishment that added 40 Disney characters

For the Grand Finale, TDR reportedly is adding even more special touches, including a show stop to the Dreaming Up! parade to allow guests to dance to the 35th anniversary theme song--and of course, more merchandise and more food!

It's hard to believe the park is 35 years old!

I like the Disney characters sprinkled into their story settings in It's a Small World, I'm looking forward to spotting/photographing the golden Mickey statues on our virtual trip, and I must have this key chain from the special merchandise:

That parade was fantastic! I was so happy to see Pooh and friends and Alice in Wonderland and gang. The Cheshire Cat was adorable. The princess float was so pretty, and the Belle float was fun. I LOVED Mary Poppins and Peter and Wendy! I bet little kids think they are so magical.

I love the info about the 35th celebration. I choose the phone case for my souvenir, and I have to try the Mickey Bread for my celebration snack. I'll munch on that while waiting for the confetti party after riding the BEST version of It's a Small World ever!!!!!! I hope they do that for the 50th anniversary at WDW (minus the year-long refurb). So much fun!

135 minutes - horses, walking, and planting blueberry bushes

Congratulations to MikeNamez for turning Cookie Orange and to Twilight Sparkle for being the first team member to reach StellaLou Purple!

StellaLou is a lavender rabbit with dreams of dancing on Broadway. She was introduced at Tokyo DisneySea for 2017's Easter celebration. Here's a Disney blog article about StellaLou.

I'm glad you liked the information about the Happiest Celebration!. I'm just sad it ends before my trip in May (we do get the Easter celebration, though, which includes a special character called Usatama - basically an egg with arms, legs, and bunny ears). After seeing the video, I'm really looking forward to seeing Small World. I don't know that we're going to see Dreaming Up!, though, because there's a special Easter parade.

Congratulations to piglet1979 on turning Cookie Orange!

To wrap up Tokyo Disneyland, we have dinner and the evening entertainment -- the nighttime parade, the Celebrate! Tokyo Disneyland spectacular, and the Brand New Dream fireworks show.

Before we get into those in the next couple of days, though, we might want to check out some non-Happiest Celebration merchandise and snacks. Here's an article with some suggested Tokyo Disneyland souvenirs. For some reason I really like the stuffed passholders. (Just FYI, it's about 110 yen to the U.S. dollar.) And here's an article about Disneyland snacks. Check out the green alien mochi dumplings!
