Which would you choose, 2 bedroom at SSR or OKW?

We are planning a trip later this year. Right now we have a 2 bedroom at SSR. But I noticed OKW is a lot more space. This room will be with 4 kids (ages 2 - 14) and 4 adults. Of course at 7 months, it might not matter anyway, but.........

Which would you prefer and why?

These resorts are pretty similar generally speaking. OKW has some nice new room renovations that finish up in April so Id probably pick it over SSR. However, I dont think OKW has elevators so that may influence your decision.

I thought it was some of the building had no elevators. Yes, that would be a factor.

At disney, DH uses a wheelchair, he could handle a flight of steps a few times a day, but then we'd also be dragging strollers and wheelchairs up and down steps.

OKW. Renovations will be completed whereas SSR is scheduled to begin renovations this spring. Full size washer and dryer instead of apartment size appliances.

We just made this decision this morning but for a one-bedroom. We chose OKW for a few reasons - the first being the size of the rooms. The living room is much larger and generally more spacious than SSR plus has the additional "chair bed" which both my kids think is fabulous. Our other deciding factors were newly updated, full-size W/D, "new" (to us) resort experience, potentially better views, and relaxed layout of the resort.
If you have concerns with stairs you can request a building with an elevator (3 (?) have them) or simply request a first floor room.

I knew OKW was bigger but never looked at numbers. Seems a 2 bedroom is about 300 sq. ft. bigger than SSR. That's a lot of space for parking wheelchair and strollers.

The only thing similar about SSR and OKW is they are composed of multiple buildings with multiple bus stops.

OKW villas are much larger than SSR villas. You have a full sized washer and dryer at OKW instead of stackables like SSR. Most of the buildings at OKW do not have elevators, but you can request one of the three with an elevator (62, 63 and 64) or a ground floor for medical needs. OKW actually has beds for nine in the two bedroom villa, currently SSR only has beds for eight. OKW also has the twin sized sleeper chair in the living room. OKW refrigerator has an ice maker in the kitchen. SSR has ice cube trays or an ice machine out in the elevator lobby. Both resorts have multiple bus stops to the theme parks.

Don't forget the really big balcony with a big table and 4 chairs at OKW. SSR has room for 2 chairs and a small side table. The OKW 1 BR is just about the size of an SSR 2 BR, so if you need space OKW is for you. That extra space is great for a ECV or wheel chair.

Will you be wanting to eat at the resort restaurants? The quick service at OKW is just a walk up counter with some outdoor tables, the quick service at SSR is much bigger and has lots of indoor seating.

i always have chosen OKW mainly because of rooms size (and the Gurgling Suitcase), but also because I am not a kid and I approve whole heartedly in the chair sleeper. It is really comfortable. Looking forward to seeing the new bigger flat screen in the living room in about 6 weeks.

With the number of kids, we plan to order groceries and eat meals in room. Very loose plan is eat breakfast in room, eat CS lunch in parks, bring a few snacks and drinks into parks and eat dinner in room. I can easily see grandma and grandpa taking little kids back and letting the other adults and bigger kids stay in parks later. No TS this trip.

Speaking of groceries. Since the resort (SSR or OKW) is spread out with parking, if one orders groceries from publix, amazon now, etc., can they bring the groceries to you or do they still need to go through bell services?

We much prefer OKW over SSR for the extra space and the great vibe. And the excellent cast members. And Olivia’s for one of the best and most reasonably priced TS meals on property. AND Jimmy Buffet music on the buses...

We found that they(Publix/Instacart) were more likely to deliver right to the room at SSR and OKW. When doing the order online, I always put in the Building/Room#. The more info they have the more likely they will bring it right to your room.

I would go with OKW, I love the landscape and wildlife. SSR windows do not open.

For your needs, I would say OKW. I love the ability to walk to DS when I am at SSR. I also love to just walk around at SSR, it is beautiful. With a large group, OKW will be better. The balcony is big enough to be another dinner table and the living room will fit everything.

Used Instacart at SSR 3 weeks ago. They left my order with Bell services and it took forever to have it delivered.
I'd pick OKW over SSR.
