B Resort or Best Western at Disney Springs

Hello all,

Not sure if this was asked before, We have a reservation booked right now at Best Western. I am able to get a deal at B resort for only $63.92 more. We are a family 5. I was hoping I can get some feedback on both resorts.
Housekeeping, food and etc.

If you had to choose B resort or Best Western which would you choose and why?

I can't speak with direct experience, as I haven't stayed at either hotel under their current brands. Hopefully other people will provide some personal experiences. But, here are a few important things to note.

The B Resort and Spa is a little better positioned for walking to Disney Springs. The Best Western is a little better for walking to off-site dining locations. Most of those off-site restaurants will have pricing closer to "normal" than anything found at Disney Springs. There are a variety of fast/quick-service locations (McDonalds, Taco Bell, subs) and sit-down dining (Mexican, pizza, diners) just off Disney property.

But probably the most important information is that the Best Western was purchased and will be rebranded as a Drury hotel. That rebranding includes building a separate high-rise hotel tower next to the existing tower. Major work will be done on the existing amenities like restaurants and pool. After the new tower is completed, the currently operating tower will be renovated. Based on the online reviews I've read over the past several years, it sounds like the Best Western rooms are in need of renovation.

Assuming that the price difference includes all resort/service fees and you're staying for more than one night, I'd go with the B Resort and Spa. It's unquestionably nicer than the Best Western.

We stayed at the best western, and the staff was so helpful. However we only stayed one night, and I’m not sure a long stay would be the best there. All that said it was fine and my daughter liked it better then the next 5 nights at the beach club! Go figure

Best Western (or new Dury) is the longest walk to Disney Springs

I have stayed at both of these recently. B was just prior to Christmas and Best Western was right after New Years. I stayed at the B with my 8 year old DD, and at BW with my 4 kids (15, 8, 8, and 6). Honestly, we liked BW much better. I adore the styling and clean lines of the B, but was disappointed in the room size and location. I really thought I had booked one of the tower rooms, but was on the sides. I studied their room descriptions clearly, and I am still not sure I was given the right room. First night, I had lukewarm water in the shower and didn't even make my daughter take a shower. Second night was better. She adored the bunkbed and my bed was comfortable. All staff interactions were fine. We caught the bus to Epcot one day, waiting quite awhile for it, but I hadn't figured out the timing. Coming back from the parks, I asked one bus if it went to the B because he didn't have the sign out. Yes, B he said. Well, he meant side B which is NOT the B. We had to walk all the way back when I realized we were on the wrong side. My mistake for not double checking, but I wished I had been more persistent when I didn't understand him.

For our stay at BW, the room was bigger. My older DD loved having a bed to herself (the fold out couch). My kids have a fascination with "staying way up high" in their rooms, and we requested an upper level room. While our balcony looked out over the parking lot (yeah!), they didn't care. Staff was very polite and this bus worked better, but I had more experience with it. On our way back from AK one night, we waited quite a bit for a bus (this was after ROL), but the bus we got was a charter bus with comfy seats and tvs. My kids LOVED the FANCY bus. "Why don't we take buses like that all the time?"

As someone else mentioned, there are a plethora of restaurants just across the street. McDonald's, which is literally HALF the price of the McDonald's on the way to AK, UNO's, Sweet Tomatoes, Noodles & Company, a mexican or two, etc.

Check the resort fees too. BW is ~$13 while the B is around $30-35, I can't remember. I think parking is different too. (We had parking included with out rate.) Also, be aware that BW is undergoing construction, so it's not much to look at outside the building. I never heard any noise or had to avoid back hoes.

While I felt fancy and special staying at the B, BW worked better for us. It also helps that it is typically cheaper than the B. We have booked BW again, but I will have to see a great deal before I go back to the B (and I will make sure we are staying in one of the tower rooms.). Let me know if I can answer any other questions. I haven't stayed at any other DS hotels, but keep watching prices. (We are local and go often so affordability is more important that amenities, unless it's a birthday trip.)

Thank you for this.

We are booked right now at BW and I was okay with this choice, then B has this great special. I just thought B rooms looks better, cleaner and more up to date.
I am still kinda up in the air with the choice. Maybe I'll ask my husband to decide :rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Well, if he's anything like my husband, he'll decide based on which one is less. :P

B is definitely fresher. BW is dated. But the extra room size was helpful when that many people are in one room. I also fall into the philosophy that it is simply a sleeping place. Most of our trips are go go go. Rope drop to lunch and then back again till fireworks. We only do 2-3 days at a time so we can push hard like this. We also started eating at those restaurants across the street. The dining bills were killing me. the total check for UNO's is literally one person's amount at a character meal. We mix it up though.

I see this your first vacation...definitely splurge on some meals...specifically sci-fi at HS and Hoop de doo Review.

Definitely will go for the cheaper one. Sounds like my hubby.

I have a lot of table service meal plans at Disney to splurge on some meals.

B resort does look fresher to me.

BW we have stayed a few times. The restaurant is just ok, Rooms nice and large, Pool Basic, Staff awesome. We do Priceline quite a bit and get BW and DTD Resorts a lot. At The B resort, they treated us like crap and made rude comments about Priceline, Rooms we ok, shower pressure was really bad(i'm super picky about that) we were glad it was only 1 night.

So hubby said BW. I called Best Western to check to see if their pool would be available in June. He said he couldn't give me the exact dates that it would be closed. They dont really give them the information until the last minute. So It looks like B resort it is. Pool is a must for my DD. Thanks everyone for your help and information.

I will do the Holiday Inn - we do not care about the pool - but like the walk to DS from there
Hilton walk looks better - especially in the dark - but the Hilton needs am upgrade per other DIS'ers

The B resort in the next hotel up from the Holiday Inn - so at least another 5 minutes added to the walk to the DS

How long would you say it takes to walk from the Holiday Inn to DS? We're considering staying there, and while we'll probably have a car, we enjoy walking (some!).

From the DS Holiday Inn
I have read a 10 to 15 minute walk to Disney Springs - includes the walk way over the road - above ground and I believe is lighted in the evening.

According to Google Maps, the distance is about 0.4 miles (0.64 km) and it takes about 7 or 8 minutes to walk.

They show a few different paths, but they are just variations on where you cross the street.

From experience, I concur with the decision to cross to the opposite side of Hotel Plaza Blvd when going to/from either the Holiday Inn Disney Springs or the B Resort and Spa. There's a slight detour on the pathway in front of the Hilton Lake Buena Vista due to the pond and roadway.

Note: There is a streetlight with pedestrian walk signals at entrance to the Holiday Inn Disney Springs. Crossing Hotel Plaza Blvd at that point is easy.

As I wrote above, I'd recommend crossing East Buena Vista Drive on the overpass and then walking along the sidewalk in front of the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. It's slightly shorter and not quite as dark as the section in front of the Hilton Lake Buena Vista's pond.

Another option would be to walk through the Hilton Lake Buena Vista. If you exit the main entrance, you can walk through the parking lot. There's a well-lit sidewalk on the right side of the pond. You can walk right in front of the B Resort and Spa without returning back to the sidewalk on the street.

Thank you @writerguyfl ! I thought it looked like about a half mile, and I saw the overpass on Google Maps, but did not know about the handy street light. While I'm still not sure where we'll be staying (our trip isn't until next year), I did go ahead and book us at the Holiday Inn, since it seems pretty convenient. The rooms don't look as nice as some of the other hotels, but we know what to expect from HI, and the price is good, so I'm sure we'll be happy there if I don't find something I like better.

Thanks again for your help!

We stayed at the BW for 3 nights at the beginning of March.
Pros: Staff there are very friendly and helpful
Walk was less than 10 minutes. No need to cross the street. There are pedestrian bridges. The path is well lit.
We booked a Disney View room. The fireworks are far away but fun to watch if you are in the room.
Room was clean.
My daughter was on the first bus to AK and was able to rope drop the park!
Private Balcony
Pro or a Con: They are renovating: The grounds on the back of the hotel are dug up and the earth movers were out and about during the day. We actually enjoyed watching the activity while we had our morning cup of coffee. But that's a total personal preference.
Con: It's really the only one and again is depends on your expectations: The rooms are dated. No USB plugs. BUT - our room was very clean and the bathroom had fresh caulk in the shower. So they are trying to keep the building together before they renovate the existing hotel.

We all agreed we would happily stay there again because: staff are friendly, Disney Springs location, the view.

I've stayed multiple nights/stays at that Holiday Inn. You're right on the money in terms of your description. It's a Holiday Inn, so you won't find high-end furniture nor fixtures. Stuff like plastic glasses in the room instead of glass glasses.

But, it's a very well-run hotel. In my opinion, the service levels at the Holiday Inn Disney Springs surpass those of both Hiltons next to Disney Springs.

For example, on both of my last two stays there, I had managers approach me in the lobby while I was waiting for the bus to ask me if everything with my stay was going well. Plus, every hotel employee I passed acknowledged me. That includes Housekeeping staff members.

does anyone know when the construction at BW is supposed to be complete?
