Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Will there be ramps (or are they flush enough to the ground) that allow EVC and strollers without stoping the line?

I'd be surprised if handholds aren't standard equipment on the gondolas :scared:

No need for ramps, they'll be level with the ground. Also, at every station except Riviera, they will have the ability to pull gondolas off the line and bring them to a complete stop for those who may need extra time to load. This is as I understand it from those in the know.

This has been posted a few times in this very long thread but this is what the inside of the cabins are supposed to look

I don't think they're standard on mono-cable gondolas. A larger tri-cable gondola I rode at Whistler near Vancouver had a window in the center of the floor and a handrail surrounding the window area. I think that cabin had room for about 20 riders, including some standees.

There is a big difference between Gondolas and Trams. Standing should be expected on a tram, but they don’t do continuous loading and are mirror manually driven. Gondolas are much smaller and frequently aren’t tall enough for a person to stand in.

That actually brings up a question for me. Do we know exactly how tall the interior space will be (i.e. head room)? And apologies if it's already been stated :o

Cabin height is 7.28 feet. I don't know whether that's exterior or interior. If it's exterior, headroom would probably be about 6.5 ft.
Thanks I appreciate it :)

That's just a guess on my part, by looking at the picture and lack of clarity on whether the quoted height is interior or exterior. If my guess is right, he'll just have to duck his head a bit getting in and out.
That my husband can do but my husband is taller than 6 ft. He's 6ft and just over 5 1/2 inches so I just was thinking just in case if standing had to occur at some point. Hopefull there's a wee bit more headroom. I don't want to go in thinking you never ever would stand unless Disney themselves says standing isn't permitted but your comment about size and standing had me thinking.

Ooo, dh is 6'5".
Yeah..my husband is 6ft just over 5 1/2 inches so I'm right there with ya on that being a potential problem depending on how it all pans out.

The cabins are designed to seat 10 riders. Some people are speculating that Disney will only load 8 for comfort.

The manufacturer says nothing about standees in their literature. It seems extremely unlikely that Disney will fold up both seats to load more people than the cabins are designed to carry.

That's a good point.

Agreed. I don't think people should worry about Disney packing people in or making people stand. It would be a pretty big safety issue if they started putting in more people than the cabins were designed to support.

I personally wasn't worry about them overloading or cramming the gondola. I wasn't thinking anyone was going to try and overload what it was capable of.

I was wondering in cases like a seat was put up, you start adding strollers, etc. If these gondolas are not designed (as the PP mentioned standing isn't in the literature) for standing at all then that answers the question (other than my husband may still have to duck to get inside depending on the height of the doors and cabin total height interior).

Interesting comments about gondola capacity. I wonder if there is a per-vehicle weight limit? Or perhaps some limit on the total weight over a span?

The head clearance will probably be similar to this. Doppelmayr is the manufacturer for both
