Welcome to my latest trip report :flower3: This will take a while because I have way to many photos so grab some popcorn and make yourself comfortable popcorn::

So introductions. Firstly there's me, 33 year old Disney fan from Ireland. I love Stitch, Baymax, Olaf, Eeyore, Dopey, Beast, Mickey and so much more.
My trip buddy is my Momma who loves Dopey and Grumpy. We both tend not to appear in photos however occasionally there will be photos of my trip mascot Angel, a white bear that comes all over the world with us and usually he gets more attention than us!

I love Disney trips and I think Momma only comes for the holiday but together we've been to California once, Paris 5 times and this was our 6th time in Florida but we hadn't been there for 7 years!

So trip details, we were in Orlando from the 28th of December 2018 until the 10th of January 2019. The first week we stayed at the Rosen Inn at Point Orlando on International Drive. Then the second week we moved to Disney's Art of Animation resort.

I'm joining in and following along. Can't wait to hear how your Disney trip went and what you thought of Art of Animation. However, your TR title does have me worried there might've been a hiccup along the way!

Following along. Looking forward to reading more about your adventures

Welcome :flower3:

So the day before the trip we were going to a show in Dublin so on the 26th I took the Christmas tree down and finished packing and that's when I noticed that the zip was broken on the case! :scared1: I hadn't used it since our trip to Paris in January 2018 so hadn't noticed anything wrong with it but as I was closing it I spotted a piece of thread hanging out of it and when I looked closer the zip had actually come away from the material. I reckon it happened in Paris because a few things got broken or torn in the hotel due to seemingly rough cleaners like the lock on my case got broken and I left snow boots beside my case another day and when I came back there was a cut across the front of one so I reckon the case was another unnoticed victim of the same trip. Anyway it meant the day before the trip once we sorted out the fur babies that were staying at home I needed to go look for a new suitcase and repack. Thankfully the shopping centre had loads so just grabbed the first one I thought matched the size and quickly repacked before it was time to head to Dublin. Mommas friend was driving us to Dublin so he dropped us at the theatre where we went to see Les Miserables. We had front row seats and it was an amazing show!

After the show Mommas friend picked us up again and dropped us out to the hotel. We were staying in a Premier Inn near the airport. When we arrived though there was a couple standing at the entrance door smoking. I went around the girl to see if I could get in a side door because the revolving door said no suitcases were allowed. The side door wouldn't open though so I stepped back out of the way while Momma's other half took her cases through the revolving door (and got them jammed in the doors!) A security guard eventually came and opened the side door so that I could get in but not before the girl from the couple that had been at the door started trying to have an argument with me. She started shouting that I was so rude that I had just pushed past her and hit her with my case and didn't even say excuse me. It was all a pack of lies. I hadn't touched her but she already had a black eye from somewhere else so one would presume it wasn't the first time she'd tried to have a fight with someone. So I just went look if I hit you I'm sorry it wasn't intentional and headed into the hotel to check in. We were on the top floor and I headed straight to bed looking forward to Florida but with my fingers crossed that nothing else was going to go wrong!

So cute!!

Ugh, no!! That is frustrating. At least you had time to take care of it, but how annoying after you'd already gotten packed.

One of my very favorite shows!!

I'm excited to see how your trip went!! Sorry about the rude hotel girl, that's crazy!!

Thanks. He usually gets more attention than we do on the trips :rotfl2:

I was sad. I'd had that case for years and I don't do well with change :rotfl: but at least I spotted it before we went. Would have been worse if I'd checked it in and it burst open totally on the way or something.

One of my very favorite shows!!
It was amazing. It was the first time I've seen it on stage. I saw the movie and knew all the songs from being involved with musical societies. They tended to be the main sing song songs during the musical society awards weekends that I used to go to. On stage it was fabulous though.

The rude girl was an insane moment. I was looking at the black eye she already had going crap what do I do if she starts getting physical. :scared1:

Yikes, you certainly hit a few road bumps before your trip. The broken case sounds frustrating, and I'm sure having to run to the store right after Christmas was a little chaotic. Glad you were able to find a replacement, though.

You can't go wrong with a Premier hotel; they're pretty safe bets. Although, the hostile guest standing in the way you probably could have done without. :rolleyes2

I was panicked a bit by everything going wrong. Momma had got a hairdresser to come to the house that morning though and she suggested one shop and when I went in they had loads of cases. I just had about 30 minutes to get repacked before we had to leave!

We've stayed in that Premier inn a few times now. It's handy as it has a shuttle to the airport but the angry guest was a tad scary. I wanted to tell reception but Momma wouldn't let me

Day 1: Travel day!

So I hopped out of bed early eager to get to the airport… I think I got maybe 2 hours sleep all night but like who can actually sleep the night before a Disney trip?! Anyway we got our stuff together and got a shuttle bus to the airport at 6.15am. We dropped off our bags and the flight attendant tried to make us check in our hand luggage. I said no but Momma handed hers over. I took the chance! Bags dealt with we headed for a very healthy McDonald’s breakfast. I had pancakes and sausage with a ham and cheese toastie:

It doesn’t look to appealing but it was actually quite nice. Once we were fed we headed through security where Momma’s second hand luggage bag got pulled over to be checked out. Once she was sorted we headed to the gate and guess what I was allowed on the plane with my bag no problem! The plane was slightly delayed taking off but soon it was time to say see you next year Ireland and off we went on the first part of our journey:

Our first flight was to Amsterdam and only an hour and ten minutes long so not to bad. They gave us a cheese and egg sandwich in a cute little Dutch themed box as well:

Once we landed we went to try find the gate but we didn’t really need to go there yet so we browsed the shops for a bit. They had a tree made out of chocolate in one shop:

We had a few of our own snacks then were to what we thought was our gate but it was a security check. They asked us if we were going to visit family or friends in America and I said I was going to visit my friend Mickey Mouse! The guy told us he wished he was going with us, told us what gate to go to and sent us on our way. When we got to the gate our name was on the screen to talk to the people at the Delta desk. They told us they were upgrading us to comfort class as the plane was full. Momma was delighted with the extra leg room, I was disgusted they took my window seat! Then we did a bit of plane spotting while we waited to board the flight:

I had a t-shirt on that said "I can't adult today, today is a Disney kind of day," my backpack and cabin case were both Disney themed and then Angel had his Mickey Mouse ears on so as we were getting on the plane one of the pilots was standing welcoming people on and went, "there's somebody ready for the Disney parks," I was like too right I am! :rotfl2: There were a few empty seats around us when we got on board so we tried to move to a window seat but there wasn’t two seats together so we stayed where we were for a while. They gave us a menu for what food would be served and we could choose our main meal:

There was also a really strange lady sitting in the row with us. She was taking selfies and then took a photo with Momma and me kind of… I didn’t really look at her camera but was in the photo! Shortly after we took off I moved in to the row behind us that was empty because the screen at my seat froze and I wanted to watch a movie. I put Angel on the empty seat beside me propped up with cushions:

I started watching Mamma Mia and they came around with snacks for us:

I fell asleep for a while and when I woke up the strange lady had moved into the row I was in and taken all the pillows that I’d put around Angel. They came around with the meal then, I had chicken:

After that I put Angel on the table and left my water and sweets beside me on the chair. I fell asleep again for a while and this time when I woke up the lady had put the middle table down and moved my stuff to the table. She was lying across the two seats and kept edging closer and closer to me so eventually I moved back into the row where Momma was but we swapped seats so I could watch movies and the other lady just took over all three seats behind us! I watched another two movies and during those movies they brought hot chocolate chip cookies first, then there was a choice of a chicken tikka wrap or a pizza roll and ice-cream. I went with the wrap:

The food was all quite nice but the ice-cream was melted already. We landed in Florida two hours early which was a bonus but we weren’t allowed off the flight because first a lady had collapsed twice on the flight on the way over so there was an ambulance waiting for her. Then they couldn’t get the walkway (I don’t know what it’s called) to attached to the plane properly for us to get off so it was another hour after we landed before we were actually allowed off the plane! Eventually we got off and through customs without to long a wait and then we were there, like hello big tree:

Hi Goofy:

Our taxi driver had been tracking our flight so was already at the airport waiting for us but while we were in the airport I had two mini asthma attacks. I’d say it was from the humidity and tiredness, once we were in the taxi I was fine though and we headed off to the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando. We were in building A close to reception and with a pool view outside our door:

The room was nice and a good size, with a fridge, microwave and television. Once we got settled a bit we headed to Walgreens to get some water and stuff. I got a meatball marinara Sub in Subway. Then we headed for a very welcome sleep!

I don't know which is harder sometimes, the long international flights or the personalities of the fellow passengers! That woman on your flight sounds like she was difficult to deal with. Who dreams of moving someone's stuff so they utilize the free seat? :confused3

Sorry to hear you had asthma attacks after debarking. I'm sure that was a stressful thing to deal with after a long flight, being tired, and trying to get your bearings.

The long flight was ok, it dragged a bit but I watched 3.5 movies which helped pass the time and then slept a bit. The other lady was just strange and bugging me because she kept moving my things. I’d woke up at one point with a blanket around me as well and that tipped me over but when I moved beside Momma she said she’d put the blanket on me so slightly less freaky than I thought :rotfl2:

I think it was probably a mix of tiredness and humidity. Ireland is cold and you get used to that climate then when I got off the plane in Florida it was 3 times hotter than Ireland and more humid.

Following along :-) Angel is so cute...my husband tries to discourage "stowaways" Although I think he was happy to have Dumbo join him on this weeks work trip.

Welcome :flower3: and thanks. I could't go away without Angel  he's come everywhere with us since 2003!

I think you need to introduce crazy fighting hotel girl to plane seat takeover lady :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

How many hours was your flight, overall?

Yay for being safe on the ground and finally off the plane!! I'm sorry your asthma was causing problems, though.

Day 2, part 1:

So when we bought our Disney park tickets we got an offer of adult at child prices for 14 days the only catch was they had to be activated in 2018, not that I was complaining so for our first day we got up bright and early and got a taxi to the Contemporary Resort. From there we had a short walk across the road and then the angels started singing “Honey, I’m home”

We got Momma’s disability pass sorted, she has osteoporosis so they gave her a pass that acted like an extra fast pass. You went to the CM and got a return time and then went back and entered through the fast pass line. After that we had time to take a quick few photos of the castle:

Then it was time for breakfast. We had booked breakfast in Crystal Palace this morning. Breakfast was pretty uneventful. I had Eeyore ears on but they got no reaction:

The food was great and a great selection. These were Momma’s plates:

And mine:

The cheesy potatoes were the best and the Pooh Puffed French toast was nice as well. I did take some buffet photos as well as I went along in case anyone was interested. There was a good selection of food:

Character wise we saw Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore but none were very stand out.

We were not on the dining plan so once we were fed and had seen all the characters we headed off towards the first fast-pass I’d booked. We headed in to Adventureland and Momma had forgotten what the Aladdin Camel does so I was all like oh you should totally stand on this spot, then the Camel spat on her and she started swearing. She said she thought I was telling her to stand there for the perfect photo spot :rotfl2::

Next we decided to drop in on the Country bears along the way:

Our first fast-pass was for Haunted Mansion so we worked our way over there next:

From there we headed in to Fantasyland to check out the Rapunzal bathrooms:

I was trying to find hidden Pascal’s but I guess they’re gone now because all I could find was a squirrel!

We then used Momma’s pass to get a return time for Small World and while we waited I took this photo:

The taxi driver we had used that morning had his own Florida tourist facebook page and he’d asked us to get pictures of the crowds and post it. When I posted that everyone was saying how nobody in the photo was smiling or anything. Anyway we enjoyed people watching for a while then went back to Small World:

Go Ireland :shamrock::

After that we headed back towards Adventureland for our next fast-pass. In Liberty square all these CM’s were out blowing bubbles and stuff and if anyone stood in the white square they would all start cheering and clapping. Then their manager or what looked to be their manager stood there and they all started booing. It was very funny to watch:

As we went on our way we spotted some Country bears wandering around as well. They didn’t seem to have a formal meet and greet line but were just randomly stopping at people and taking selfies and stuff so of course we stopped for photos:

I think you need to introduce crazy fighting hotel girl to plane seat takeover lady :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Omg I’d say hotel lady actually would have punched aeroplane lady :rotfl2:

How many hours was your flight, overall?
The first flight was an hour and 10 minutes. The second one I think they said was going to be 9 hrs 54 minutes :faint: but that was better than what the travel agents page said, that had 11 hours and 11 minutes! The second flight dragged so badly this time as well. I watched movies and after each one be like okie how many hours left and after I’d watched the first two movies and it still said 6 hours I was like WHAT??? Is this thing broken :rotfl2:

Yay for being safe on the ground and finally off the plane!! I'm sorry your asthma was causing problems, though.
The asthma attack’s panicked me because I was afraid it was going to be like that for the whole trip if it was the humidity. I didn’t have asthma the last time we were in Florida so it was a new experience, but it was fine the next day so I think it was just tiredness and the extreme temperature change
