I love credit cards so much!

All this talk about AMEX and where to put your spend has me thinking about my next move. I was thinking of jumping aboard the grAAvy train but I think for now my best move is to keep some spend on Barclay (to prime for arrival +) and keep spending on my amex cards. I wish we knew the magic number of how much is enough! Also feeling the spreading of my spending too thin and not sure of the answer on that one.
Current plan - spend on Barclay and Amex for me (P1). P2 can still do some damage with Amex and I’m pretty sure Barclay won’t give him another card (had to recon for arrival +). So have him just get some spend on AMEX to keep them happy.
Then in March I (P1) apply for CIU - third Chase biz. Either wait one month and apply for Hyatt and arrival + same day or maybe wait 3 months? What do you think?
In the meantime keeping P2 under 4/24 and in Chase good graces for CP 2020/21. So get him Hyatt in March and lay low with Chase. Maybe some AMEX biz cards? Thoughts?

Stats that hopefully our Lord the Dictator approves of the format!!

Re quoting this thoughts @palhockeymomof2, @SouthFayetteFan or @Lain any Chase experts with insight. Would I be ok to try for CIU and then Hyatt one month later or should I take a 3 month break again after the CIU?

My new SW personal, just got it last Friday. Met my spend with PNC. My next payment due date is 2/27, isn't that a little odd? Totally fine, and I don't need my points before then, but it seems odd to have like 7 weeks between when my card arrives and payment is due? It doesn't say at all when my statement date is.
The statement close date is 3 days after the payment date except the end of the month. So the 25th would be 28th but the 26th would be the 1st. I think this is to account for Feb only having 28 days and keeping it consistent.

Hey there - just posted some thoughts if you didn’t see it yet. I like to put 30 Days between my chase apps unless it’s bit possible for some reason and 60 if I can swing it.

sh back card do you use? Citi Doublecash? I have the Barclays Uber which I feel is very underrated for a no fee card. It's better than the Cap One Savor.

I use the Navy Flagship Rewards. 2% back on everything and a very very broad 3% on travel. I also have/use the Discover for rotating categories. DoubleCash is just sitting in the sock drawer.

First off - mad respect for that BIZ card haul you’ve gotten!! That’s awesome :)

I like your plan. If the CIU can keep you busy for a month or 2 then maybe not apply for Hyatt and Arrival right away. Another thought would be a modified double dip with the Hyatt. You have all the good Chase cards though. Since it would be your last Chase card you could do something strange like a Disney or CFU just to use the last slot (technically your 6th slot)

Regardless, I think you have great strategy for the first half of the year.
Ahh you snuck in there!!! Thanks and to think I was in the “no business card camp” 6 months ago!
Good call on modified DD. I’m not really feeling any other chase cards though - I’ll look into IHG too. Would I do the Hyatt and Arrival app on same day. I guess my fear is arrival is at a good SUB and that might go away.....

Also it might have been @SouthFayetteFan but how can I combine luv vouchers? Price isn’t changing and I’d rather not lose out on the two $100 vouchers I have.

So I would use
$100 voucher
$5.60 voucher from current flight that will need to be cancelled 9/11 fee
$16.58 voucher balance

Need to combine at least two of them so I can put the balance on a credit card.

Thanks
So you want to find a flight for as close to $117 and use the $100 and $16.58 to pay for it (plus a small CC charge). Then you “change” that flight to the one you want and use the $5.60 credit and a CC again to pay the balance. Finding a flight at the right price is the problem. I usually just search a lot of random city pairings lol.

If this is confusing send me a PM and I can look at it with you. You don’t want to mess up as your combining vouchers and expiration dates default to the earliest and all of this is nonrefundable.

I seem to remember it involved booking another flight to use two of the vouchers, then cancelling that flight to get one new voucher, which you can then use in combination with your 3rd voucher and credit card on the flight you want.

Alternatively....can you not request the return of the $5.60 9/11 fee to your credit card? Would be less hassle.
Refund the $5.60 is the right option if available :)

Interesting thing about this DP is spending like crazy to hit MSR. I wonder if with AMEX it would be better to space out hitting your MSR instead of attacking it right away (which we are all inclined to do) to get the SUB (like that @SouthFayetteFan)??
Stop trying to make SUB happen (ala Mean Girls :))

My only request with a new thread is that you all post slower.....just kidding, but in all honesty how do you ever keep up?

Seriously! Gah, I finally got all caught up now. Crazy how fast it moves...I posted last night about some Shutterfly stuff before bed and woke up to like 1000+ pages talking about starting a new thread (okay, a bit of an exaggeration, but not much :D). But I agree with everything that's been talked about so far. This thread has definitely been super helpful and I'm glad I found it, like what....a week ago? Sure, I'm late to the party, but I'm still enjoying every minute of it!

LOL, but when will the first statement close if the first payment is 2/27?? That is the bigger question.

That makes sense. You'd get about 4 weeks for the first statement and then another 3 weeks at least between statement close and payment due. I consider that the beauty of CC's, if you time your charges right you can have almost 2 months to pay it off :)
But your points will post based on statement date and not due date. With the personal cards, payments are usually due 3 days before statement close so I'd expect your first statement to close around 2/1 and points arrive shortly thereafter.

And in bank bonus news, looking in informed delivery there are 2 bank bonus offers for younger daughter: BB&T for $200 and another for TD Bank for either $300 or $150. She could easily do both and won't touch them. Plus has sent several of the $600 ones and PNC also...they are a half mile away, with the first two about 1 mile away.

For me, just a few credit card statements that I haven't put on paperless yet and another 'pay over time' from Amex....

No, it is not locked. It's currently on page 4 of the main Budget Board. But, if you looked Dentam started that thread and last posted to it on Dec 30. Jen and Ashwin jumped in and started another thread for 2019 on dec 6 and took over. I think people just see 2019 and think up to date and that's where they post.

I never listen to podcasts unless it's a dvc one giving me a freebie.

It was the 52 week money challenge. It's on page 2 now. I knew there was one I'd seen locked and thought it had the year on it.

Can they force you to a higher annual fee? I have the $49 IHG card and so far although it is discontinued, I still pay $49.

I don't know but I figure eventually they won't still want that card out there. Probably won't happen any time soon though.

I just may have to go and get that card myself, but I'm trying to get to 4/24...nope...they want $49 fee and no bonus.

I'll have to call and see if they will make my cards that I have into something else once I figure out what that something else I want is.

I also have the $75 Hyatt card.

I got a $500 sign up in 2017. My wife gets mailers all the time for them too.
