I love credit cards so much!

I haven't been posting advice since I am a total hotel princess and would pick YC CL even if it mean fewer WDW days. But honestly, if there is a mod I've been wanting to try it's POFQ all the way. I think it comes down to how you want to spend your vacation time and how much you will use the lounge, enjoy walking to the BW and EPCOT, etc. Good luck with your decision. It's a lot of money and I often wish I wasn't so picky about hotels, but that ship sailed a long, long time ago. ;)

I tried a Shutterfly photobook a few months ago for the first time. It took 2 to put the photos in our Norway/Iceland cruise together. I'm really picky and I have to say that they make a good product. They take up far less space on my shelf than traditional albums and I love that I can have some tiny pics and some full page ones. I ended up going back in time and making one for our last 2 WDW trips & Dream cruise, and another one for our 2011 DCL cruise to Alaska. I'm trying to go back and make some from a few other trips as well. I'm sharing this in case anyone wants to know if they are nicely made - I couldn't find anyone who had made one and was really on the fence about it until I tried one.
Lol thanks for your help. We used to not be as picky but now that we’ve ridden everything we like to spend more time relaxing at the resort. I’m actually leaning towards keeping yc but who knows. I’ll let everyone know what we decide though

Part of it was a lot of concern over renaming it too. Maybe we should reconsider having a new thread named the same thing and asking a mod to lock the old thread...
I think that would work! Getting this one locked is the biggie. I feel like that was our big concern - having two threads open and both getting posted to.

I do think a name change is fine but we could also keep the name. So much has changed and we desperately need some stickies.

The debt dumpers I think, it was one of the 2018 threads, got it locked because I saw it the other day. We'd just have to ask that person.

I think the biggest issue is still the google thing and making it too easy for people to stumble up from reddit or elsewhere when googling. I think that's part of why some of the stuff has been in the dischurners reddit thread. Making an obvious outline of stuff, while helpful, makes it much easier for google to pick it up. I do think a lot of people find the disboards through google not necessarily through wdwinfo.com or the podcast. There's people on here that probably don't even know there's a podcast.

Totally agree. I've been posting on the DIS forever yet I found this thread while doing a Google search for award travel using MRs. It was one of the top 3 hits, and since I was already on the DIS every day I wandered on over. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I agree it's too easy to find except I am SOOOOOO thankful I found it.

Anywhere I should look to get a deal on a shutterfly gc? They are having a sale on prints right now and I can pick them up at Walgreens which makes it better than my usual Costco.

Also, I'd thought about doing a photobook instead of scrapbooking and even bought a groupon and then after using the site decided it just wasn't what I wanted. It's for printerpix if anyone is interested in the groupon let me know.

I make Shutterfly photo books for all of our big trips and agree that the quality is quite good. And I find Shutterlfy offers on my various Amex cards fairly frequently.

I understand. I did some scrapbooking for DD's baby/kid albums and it's nice that I could include extra items. It's definitely a trade off. My fave thing about the photo book is that my DM went on that cruise with us and I was able to just hit "buy" and get a copy of the album to give her. :)

Chiming in on the Shutterfly love. I've gotten some good deals on my AMEX cards. Last time there was an offer I wasn't in the process of making a book so I bought some e-gift cards.
I make a book after every vacation. This started after my first Disney trip when I had a coupon for a free book. I love being able to just print a second copy for DD. DS still lives at home so I may have to print a copy for him once he moves out! I've been timing my books so I usually get the free unlimited pages to get a good deal. I think they look really, really good. You can crop the photos just like trimming in scrapbooking. I like adding all the stickers, frames and embellishments. Plenty of space for journaling. I usually order a plastic pocket and put any tickets or physical mementos I want to save with the book.

Nice!! My cashier at s+s yesterday (older lady) asked to see the card I was using for debit. I handed her a regular debit card but swiped my gc. I felt awful about it but I know she is visually impaired and there was no way she could see the numbers and with the high counters it wasn’t that obvious. Hopefully it was a fluke cause I went to another one and got an carefree millennial who didn’t ask a thing.
Omg, that's so funny because my DH went to the Stop and Shop we always use after Staples and got an older lady we've never seen before and she said you are using a bank debit card right? He said yes but then pretended the fee was too high and backed out cuz he got nervous, lol. He went to another stop and shop and got a young kid who didn't care at all! We will be on the lookout for this particular lady from now on!!

@MrPTato are you doing DL or just LA?

@vanjust14 too funny. Once they asked me if it was a bank debit and I said yes but she didn’t ask to look at it. And once she made a comment oh a swipe (instead of pin) but I just said “old card”. This time I had to cough it up. Hopefully it’s not a new thing they are going to try to enforce

I've made a book before but I like to have stuff other than just the pictures and taking a picture of a brochure, button or ticket stub so I can put it in just isn't the same as having the actual item. And silly as it seems, having so many photo's I want to use makes the photo book daunting to me while scrapbooking that many isn't an issue because I can easily cut and trim.
I am so with you on all of this lol. I made wedding photo books for family but my scrapbook will be the next big project.

I found the boards googling Disney weddings

That is awesome! It's actually a goal of ours as well. We hope to get moved to FL in the next 3-5 years so our retirement can be spent working at WDW.

I met the cutest old guy at the GF gift shop back in 9/15. He normally worked at ToT taking FP but they had moved him to the store that day. I started talking to him and found out that he had been a fire chief in NYC during 9/11. He told me it was his squad that filmed the training video showing the first tower being hit and he is shown in that video. After losing a lot of friends in that attack, he and his wife decided to retire and move to Orlando. They had been working at Disney in their retirement for about 10 years. She worked for DVC but I wasn't quite sure what she did. Anyways, super nice guy and he told me they absolutely loved working for Disney and getting to do this in their retirement. It was actually 9/11 that day and I brought that up (before he ever told me his background). He started crying (be still, my heart - now I was crying) and said not a single guest had mentioned it being 9/11 and he couldn't believe how quickly people had forgotten. He had called his wife on his lunch break and told her and she told him, 'honey, people are on vacation and they don't want to remember things that bad on vacation'. He thanked me over and over for just recognizing the significance of the day. He is just one of the many older CM's who have made an impression on me over the years. Btw, his name is Jack :)

Anyways, long story, I'm sorry. He was so neat. I would love to spend my retirement with people who have come from all over to enjoy Disney from a different perspective and share our unique life experiences with each other.
Love, love, love this!!!!

I don't think we really have to worry too much about people finding us. I'd imagine any card issuers doing reconnaissance have infiltrated r/churning. I don't recall us openly discussing anything on this thread that isn't already widely discussed on r/churning.

I'm currently uploading 416 photo's just from Paris not counting the WDW trip. I had the silly thought I'd be able to put both in the same book. I won't print all of of them... This is the one reason why digital pics are worse than film, I end up with waaaaaaaaay more pictures than I would have with film.

I do agree that the photo books are way better when you need more than one copy. And @StephPlum that pocket thing sounds cool, I'll have to remember it. I imagine I'll eventually switch over, especially since they take up less room, but I've also still got a lot of scrapbook stuff I can use so it doesn't cost much more than the photos at this point. I'll need some Paris specific stuff and I'll see if there's any new Disney stuff. I still have to finish my last two, I need Kermit and Captain Hook stickers or something.

Sorry to the guys for taking this down a photo book and scrapbooking spiral. Pitchers and catchers report in under 30 days! And 4 Sundays til Daytona! Both of which I am looking forward to. Oh and the Grand Tour is back on Prime Friday!

NEW THREAD...?
So I reached out to Webmaster Doc to see if they would lock this thread if we created a new one. He said he'd be glad to handle that and told me to let him know when the new thread was created...so hmmmm should we do this?

I think we would name it "I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for details)" We did go round and round in circles the last time on a new name, and there was no consensus...so why change it. It works, we all found this place and new people find us too!

Then I would be happy to reserve the first few comments to include a link back to this thread, a brief summary of what we do, instructions on how to ask for advice, and a glossary. I would be happy to maintain those and certainly rely upon the suggestions of our group here on what should go in those comments. We would end this thread with a link to the new one also...

I also don't want to act like I'm some dictator here, just taking it upon myself to make this change. What do people think??

EDIT: If you want to do this...LIKE this comment. If you don't like it please respond and say why. Also, there is always the risk that due to having 70k comments and 3,500 pages that maybe they just ask to do it eventually anyways, lol!

I also should add - I WOULD NOT plan to put any sort of guides or instructions in those first few comments. We won't be posting ideas on Modified Double Dips or grAAvy trains or DISchurners...or other ideas like that...all that should be discussed in the discussion but not openly linked on the first page.

Our biggest risk on that was for the longest time we were linked in the Churning for Disney megathread (by mistake actually as he intended to link the gift card thread). I asked him to change it, lol - cuz we don't want the crazies here!

I think you’re acting like an overbearing dictator. Just kidding. I appreciate all the work you do and if you’d like to organize it, I’m all for it.

Oh and the Grand Tour is back on Prime Friday

Yes, another Grand Tour fan here!! Started watching Top Gear back in college and have always loved it. It’s so rare that BBC reruns it anymore, but DH and I can easily waste a whole Sunday rewatching old episodes when it does come on.

And love all the scrapbooking talk. I am the least creative person, but I’d love to put together a scrapbook of our Disney trip for this year.
