I love credit cards so much!

We only have SPG Amex’s as of right now.

Is there any reason DH couldn’t get the Hilton Biz AFTER a personal Hilton Amex Acsend? We got a targeted 150k point email yesterday. I’m sure we could eventually find a nice oceanfront Hilton to stay at

He could! I forgot he's already over 5/24. Acsend for your DH then refer you to the Hilton Biz. Then your Hilton Biz to refer to your DH's Hilton Biz. Unless the Acsend referral is more, than do the self referral for your DH to the Hilton Biz. Avoiding the self referral if you don't need it is just to be super cautious.

Question for everyone: is there a list of current AmEx referral bonuses FROM each card somewhere?

Didn't want anyone to miss this, that's going for SW CP. Hopefully that will work for extra free points.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targ...have-10000-25000-points-post-to-your-account/

Of course, my Priority bonus should post today :P But I think my biz statement doesn't close until 2/3 so hopefully I get bonus points for those.

Has anyone here been targeted for this? I don't see anything when I log in to my account.

I *ahem* DH had it under the promotions on his RR account page. I haven't looked at mine. He only got his SW CCs in Nov and Dec. Actually I went and looked, and I have it to. You have to click to register also. Both of us got the 10k point offer. I only care because of his sign up bonuses.

Thank you for this! I read that post on DoC before but not thoroughly I guess, because I thought it would be an email from Southwest. I checked my SW account and saw the 10k offer on my account under Promotions (I never get promotions, so this was a surprise). Like you, I've already met the spend on one of my SW cards, but my SW Priority doesn't close until 2/3, so fingers crossed that we get the bonus on top of the signup bonus (even though the fine print excludes it).

Yay, dh was registered for this and he should get 110k posting here soon :D

DH had this under promotions in his SW account (the 10K one), and I registered him this morning. I didn't have it, but DH is the one it will be useful for since he has 110k plus points coming from the CP apps. I'm not sure when his statements are going to close and when the points will post, but I'm hopeful he'll get something from the promo.

+1 here. I got the 15K on my RR account. Waiting for my CP points to point in February, so here's to hoping they slip under the radar and qualify...

With the new Sams Club offer, mine (under my 2nd email and dh's name) expired last week. Signed up last year under a good deal, and had to use those, since I had a membership previously. Can I open a new one with a 3rd email address and my name?

$900 and POFQ would probably force my hand. You could take Minnie Vans back and forth each day to parks or wherever you want to go and still probably be around $700 ahead!

I am a hoarder, can you book POFQ just to have it and make the final decision later? A non CL YC may even turn up!
Well of course we already reserved it lol. The main reason for yc would be for the CL because we plan to use the workout area almost every day and the lounge. I was pretty set on pofq earlier today and now can’t decide. We have the reservation until 1/23 for free cancellation

Yes, He was already 2/24 with a store card (ugh) and DiscoverIt. Those were his first cards ever! He now has a "business" so referred him to CIP, and he has SPG biz and CIC.

I ran out of 5/24 slots so had to convert him. He even does MO's at Stop and Shop BY HIMSELF lol.
Nice!! My cashier at s+s yesterday (older lady) asked to see the card I was using for debit. I handed her a regular debit card but swiped my gc. I felt awful about it but I know she is visually impaired and there was no way she could see the numbers and with the high counters it wasn’t that obvious. Hopefully it was a fluke cause I went to another one and got an carefree millennial who didn’t ask a thing.

Staples - went yesterday and they had plenty of the $200 cards. Manager was there and told cashier only one card per household. They can’t be enforcing it cause I went back today and they were wiped out. I found 2 hidden behind some $100s turned around (looking at you @MrPTato). Tried to get both but no go only let me get one. Oh well. On Sunday I got 2 no problem should have grabbed more

Nice! We have similar paths. I have all the MRs my DH just got arrival + though he’s now 5/24 soon to be 4 in March.
Very similar! I do plan to get my dh some MRs of his own someday but for now, I’m wanting to put my spend where I really need it so the arrival + makes more sense.

Yes it’s a great card. Put some spend on my JB biz to keep Barclay happy and once I try for CIU I’m going for my own arrival.

When in November did he get the SW plus ...with a $6k spend...I think I’d try for the CIP since the MSR is $5k...easy way to collect 80k URs
I know that Chase shutdown stories have largely gone by the wayside...but I'm not sure I'm ready to advocate 3 Chase cards in 3 months yet...

11/18 - SW personal
12/18 - SW Biz
01/19 - consider another Chase biz?

I know all this is settled as @wendow went for the Arrival Plus now but wanted to just circle back on this comment/recommendation. Regardless of when in Nov he got that SW Plus I wouldn't be coming back to Chase this quickly for a 3rd card (I'd at a min. wait until the calendar turned to February and attempt to wait until 60 days had passed since that SW Biz application).

Of course everybody can pace themselves how they wish...but here are my current rules with Chase:
  • Always 30 days between Chase cards (I know some people like to get them a few days apart...I see no reason to tempt fate). The only exception to this rule for me would be a modified DD that is required (i.e. CSR/CSP)
  • Preferable 60 days between Chase cards
  • Always 60 days before a Chase Biz card application
  • No more than 2 Chase cards in any 90 day period
  • No more than 3 Chase cards in any 120 day period
  • No more than 4 Chase cards in any 180 day period
  • No more than 5 Chase cards in any 365 day period
  • These last 4 bullets are a general guideline and I guess I could break from this slightly if a situation warranted it.
As much as this is a sprint, at the same time it is a marathon. These are 2 constant factors at war in this game.

Chase is the goose that lays golden eggs in this game - for somebody who is maintaining a sub-5/24 status, you don't want to give Chase any reason to stop handing you golden eggs. :) Be cautious and methodical with the applications, and if your spending supports more MSR than that then look to other issuers (especially other biz cards) to fill that void.

Oh boy :crazy2: my bad have to watch my reading comprehension...read the 3/24 list of cards...as his applications 3/17 SPG 1/18 SW 11/18
And totally missed the next list
You are absolutely right...my mistake..excellent post outlining everything

Anywhere I should look to get a deal on a shutterfly gc? They are having a sale on prints right now and I can pick them up at Walgreens which makes it better than my usual Costco.

Also, I'd thought about doing a photobook instead of scrapbooking and even bought a groupon and then after using the site decided it just wasn't what I wanted. It's for printerpix if anyone is interested in the groupon let me know.

haha - no worries! I was confused though because it seemed odd for you to advise such an aggressive strategy, lol!

I will also say that my list is definitely OVERLY cautious...but I like instant approvals and keeping recon eyes off of my account. PLUS I don't like wasting a hard pull for a denial.

:rotfl:you must of thought I lost my mind...totally agree with going for instant approvals...which is why I reduce my CLs prior to applying as well

How to List your cards...
Not that we can actually enforce this or anything...but it would be somewhat helpful if we tried to standardize how we list our cards. If the regulars here embraced this format then lurkers and new folks would probably copy too...

My suggestion is to ALWAYS list ALL cards (biz or personal...any issuer) in chronological order... I also suggest listing the date first (in MM/YY format - add a 0 to the single digit months to make it look even neater) and then the issuer (in all caps) and then the card name - it makes it SUPER easy to read...

If I were asking for advice, here's what my list would look like:

Player1: (currently 6/24 - dropping to 4/24 in February)
02/17 - AMEX Everyday
02/17 - AMEX Starwood Personal
03/17 - AMEX Business Gold Rewards (BIZ)
04/17 - AMEX Ameriprise Gold
05/17 - WELLS FARGO Cash Rewards
06/17 - AMEX Blue Business+ (BIZ)
08/17 - CHASE Disney Rewards Visa
09/17 - CITI Prestige
10/17 - AMEX Starwood Business (BIZ)
10/17 - AMEX Green Business (BIZ)
12/18 - CITI Biz Aadvantage (BIZ)
*Other cards of note that P1 has open: Discover, CF x2, SW Plus, SW Prem
*Cannot apply for another Sapphire bonus until March 2020 due to 48mo. rule

Player2:
(currently 2/24)
07/17 - AMEX Starwood Business (BIZ)
09/17 - AMEX Business Gold Rewards (BIZ)
12/17 - AMEX Delta Biz Gold (BIZ)
02/18 - AMEX Blue Business Plus (BIZ)
04/18 - CHASE Ink Preferred (BIZ)
08/18 - CHASE Sapphire Preferred
08/18 - CHASE Sapphire Reserve
11/18 - CHASE Ink Unlimited (BIZ)
*Other cards of note that P2 has open: 2x CF, AMEX BCE, Marriott Prem+, AMEX Hilton, Chase Disney

At any rate, nobody actually needs to listen to me...but you can see how clean and easy that format is to read :) Also, by listing ALL cards (and not just ones that count in 5/24) nobody will give me advice to open a card that I already have :D

EDIT: I'll also add that when asking for advice for 1 player, it'd still be nice if you list stats for both players. Giving advice for P2 without knowing what P1 has or has done recently could lead us to provide bad advice. If we know the full picture (i.e. like I listed above) you could probably provide some fantastic advice!
