Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

I go to poly for the view from lounge, pool and beach access and resort ambiance.

I go to gf for food mostly. I do enjoy SL building and rpc lounge but the views are not as good.

I like the fun vibe of poly . GF is more quiet. However the 3rd floor of poly is a nice quiet spot and they just added new seating too!

The biggest difference is 5-7p. The poly just doesn't compare.

So for me I usually pic the one that both has the availability for my dates and lower /similar cost. Lately poly has been much more.

I love both as much as I love my 2 kids. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses.

Gf has more offerings, evening entertainment and the room and lounge are in main building for rpc. That is nice for hot or rainy days etc.

However poly is much easier to take stuff out to the pool or beach being only steps away. Also EPW and HEA are just awesome from poly and only good from gf.

Also poly has a bathroom on the lounge which is nice arrival and checkout days. GF you have to leave the lounge and go to another floor.

Grands beds are better, I have done a split stay and gf was softer.

Oh lastly I give poly an edge to Transportation. Walking to/from ttc can be handy for Epcot.

So I could go,on and on but both are great and I hope if you try poly you love it too.

@trishadono , THANK YOU for this amazingly detailed reply! So very helpful!!!

Soooo although I often ask questions comparing CL at different resorts, we always come back to GF (specifically RPC) for our next trip. However, my husband has been watching lots of videos on Poly CL, and I want him to be just as happy with our choice as I am! I've read a good amount about Poly and have watched several video reviews, too, but I have no personal experience there other than just being on the grounds or in the main lobby. We have stayed at RPC before and know we love it.
Would anyone have thoughts on RPC vs. Poly CL???
Poly Concerns:
1. Noise level (We like relative quiet)
2. No guaranteed balcony (I know second floor rooms don't have balconies)
3. CL food offerings, specifically evening apps, seem highly themed (Which is an awesome plus for some, but not for my picky eaters!)
4. CL food offerings seem much lower in quantity than GF
5. Cost (GF has been getting much higher room discounts than Poly, so Poly may actually be more $$...)
Would love feedback from some Poly CL fans, please and THANK YOU!!!@GADisneyDad14 , I know you used to be a huge Poly fan! :thanks::thanks::thanks:

Hello! So IMO, If you want quiet, I’d suggest GF. As far as the lounges, there’s pretty much nothing I would eat during evening apps at Poly. I’m extremely picky and am not an adventurous eater in anyway, shape or form. So again, I’d pick GF. (Granted, GF does have some things I won’t either lol) We wanted to stay Poly CL this upcoming trip for one reason, and it’s the beautiful view from the lounge, but we didn’t feel that was enough to not stay at our beloved GF. You need to weigh the pros and cons and see which fits your family best. In the end, only you guys really know what’s best for you! Good luck deciding!!!!

Youre memory serves you well. We were there this past 4th and I expected to see mini hot dogs and burger sliders but no! I remember cole slaw, ribs, beans and special deserts. Dance party on the beach was a nice touch for the kids!

That’s disappointing. But yes, the dance party was great!! My kids loved it!

In 2017 for 7/4, Poly CL had an evening menu that was more fitting for the day, mini sliders, mini hot dogs, chicken salad, baked beans, etc. Not true 7/4 dining but close enough for CL standards.

In 2018, if my memory is not failing me or clouded by Longboards, the menu was a lot less themed for the day, nothing materially special. I remember being a touch disappointed (not in a bad way, just an observation).

I’ve always wondered what the other CLs do (if anything) on special days like 7/4.
Oh no! I thought they did the hotdogs, sliders etc this past July 4th. Oops! That's what I told DH and he was looking forward to it. I hope it is somewhat themed this year, but at least there will be a great viewing spot!

Ahhh, yes - those fatty ribs. There’s a reason I didn’t post any pics from this year. :-)

Yeah, Poly does it right for the holidays. They do the same dance party on 12/31. If you have little ones, it’s hard to beat that for quality entertainment.

If there are no available chairs or tables in the lounge, are you able to take a plate to your room? Or do you just stand in line for a table?

We are trying to decide if we should change to Beach Club since it looks like it may have more seating than Yacht Club. This is our first time trying CL at Disney.

Thanks.

I’ve never been in a situation where there were no tables, but we have taken stuff back to the room if we didn’t feel like sitting in the lounge. You can definitely bring stuff back with you. Enjoy!

@mrsap , great points! Thanks so much for responding! I think we share a love :lovestruc for GF!

You can bring things to your room. My daughter prefers to do this, lol. Actually I sometimes prefer it, too. We often end up sitting on the balcony enjoying whatever we brought back with us, which can be peaceful if the lounge is busy. I haven’t stayed at YC so no experience with how busy it gets. We do try to remember to bring any dishes we’ve taken to our room back the lounge. They probably appreciate it, and I dislike the clutter so it works out well for everyone!

Does anyone think that Disney will ever redesign Club Level to go with the day(s) of purchase and not by the night(s) of purchase?

I don't know what you're asking exactly. Maybe you mean charge extra for CL per day instead of per night? If so, I sure as hell hope not as it would cost more for the same use of the CL lounge.

Maybe they just skipped a year??! The 7/4 food was always pretty popular there!

Yes, it would cost more if they charged for it by the day and not the night as with one night you are eligible for two days worth of Club Level food, services, ect. I was thinking I read where they were going to try that with the lounge at Reservation Station? Or I could be wrong about that? I think that parking at the port works like that as to where they charge by the day and many spots are paid for twice with a vehicle that is parked in a spot and will be leaving when its owners return from a cruise, (paid for once) and then the cruiser who is leaving out of the same day parks in that same spot and pays for the spot again (paid for twice). Skimming off of the top.

I can't see them doing that. I feel it's already priced to include that "extra" day.

So I tried to book the YC and BC this morning with the AP discount for June and discovered after an hour and a half on the phone with guest relations that as of 1/1/19 Club level Standard and Pool/lagoon view rooms at the YC and BC will now only accommodate 4 people. I am so disappointed! We were so looking forward to trying the YC club level! Thinking we might re-route to GF SL but not sure yet? They suggest Boardwalk but we haven't stayed there before? Any opinions and suggestions would be appreciated!
Just back from YC and overheard CM talking about this. She said that there would be 'very few' rooms that accommodate 5 at YC. Not sure if the suites are the 'very few rooms'.

We were in 5154 GV CL. There were two queen beds and a chair in it.

They also had an open house in the Presidential Suite one day. It's the suite on the fifth floor with the turret room. Gorgeous suite, ~2000 sq ft, list price $2762 per night o_O

Of our recent stays, AKL has definitely had the best check-in experience compared to other resorts (note, have not stayed at WL in awhile, which also gets good greeter reports). I'm glad to see they are still doing this part well.

Enjoy AKL CL! DW will be there (without me) in a few days. >:(
I was greeted off the ME at WL on a non club level stay. We got off the bus and a cm with an ipad was waiting for us. Checked us in in the chairs in that beautiful lobby. Best check in at disney by far.

Just back from first time at YC CL. As usual, there are pros and cons. (previous CL stays include Poly, CR, BWI, and GF RPC for comparison).

Loved the rooms with the hardwood floors. Room felt very new and clean. Liked the overall feel of the resort but it may be a bit dark for some.

Breakfast: was described as 'continental'. They would always have hard boiled eggs but they only had a crustless quiche (very good) one day. They put out some kind of cold cut each day (roast beef, ham, salami or turkey) but it just felt a little spartan. They also put out brie and goat cheese each morning. Bowls of individual cut up fruit and a daily choice of oatmeal or cheese grits. Danish, croissants, and bagels available.

Lunch time snacks: basic, sometimes bananas, but limited cheese and fruit compared to what you would see at Poly or GF. Chips, mini pitas and tomato pesto. Yogurt pretzels, goldfish, house chex mix. Not worth returning to resort unless you need a glass of wine.

Dinner: Some really good main dishes, and a soup every night. Mains included salmon and lentils, Buffalo chicken (our favorite), spiced pork with polenta, meatballs with marinara and pot roast with mash. The small dishes included on various nights: spiced shrimp cocktail, tomato and mozzarella, beef on toast, tuna poke in a cone. They had romaine hearts with ceasar dressing one night, and chicken nuggets alternated with mac and cheese. They provide big plates and servings are portioned on the larger side.

We loved the Edy's ice cream fridge. And btw they sell those Olaf bars in Epcot for $5.25 each o_O

The CM vibe was weird here. Their desks are situated so that you have to pass them every time you enter the lounge. They would always stop whatever they were doing and I realized that I actually like to feel a little more anonymous rather than have CMs staring at me every time I went by. Lounge service was mixed: most CMs left plates sit for a very long time and no where to drop a used glass or dish. Also, they closed up shop early each night. One night all the cordials were gone by 9:45pm. We were met with a fairly combative CM who insisted they didn't carry Kahlua (we had just seen it there). When he finally agreed they had it, he said that it couldn't be served over ice and brought a very small cordial glass over to my husband. From then on he was Kahlua Man and we tried to avoid him. Another night they took the juices away at 9:20. My husband requested iced tea just after I had just seen CM wheel the stuff away. CM then tried making it from a tea bag and squeezing a lemon into it, then spilled the whole thing. Most of the CMs were friendly.

Loved the location with the boat dock right outside and first pick up and drop off on the buses. Overall we had a great time (the weather helped) and I would stay here again.

One thing that is new to us with this stay is that with each turndown service we receive a personalized ‘Guide To The Magic’ printout with our plans for the next day, the weather, and personalized tips based on our plans. So for instance we have Epcot FP for tomorrow and our tips are about Epcot rides and restaurants.
