Is doing FoP and Na'vi River Journey at rope drop possible??

Hi, this is my first post on this site and am a huge fan of all things coasters and theme parks. I am going to Universal for two days in mid-Febuary, but have a day where I am doing Epcot, DHS, and DAK all in one day. I haven't been to DAK or Epcot since 2013 so I am looking forward to seeing the changes. Anyways, I plan on arriving at DAK about an 1 1/2- 2 hours before park opening so I can beat the abysmal FoP line, but I was also wondering even if I'm on the first few cycles of the day on FoP, can I still do Na'vi without a long line?? I don't want to wait more than 30 minutes for it. Any other tips for doing the three parks in a day help!

After rope dropping FOP, I walked over to the Navi ride. The posted wait time was 25 minutes I believe, but it was really just a walk-on. A lot of people will be doing the same thing as you, but if you are one of the early groups at rope drop for FOP you should be fine.

I did pretty much the same. After rope-dropping FOP, went over to Na'vi and not much of a wait there at all. I am inclined to say something about the relative entertainment value of FOP vs Na'vi, but you can probably draw your own conclusions. :rolleyes1

At security line at DAK 90-75 minutes before park opening
Walk quickly and try to stay near the front of the group
Do FOP and off the attraction just after official park opening
NRJ x 2 and done maybe 30 minutes after park opening
So on a 9 am park opening day, by 9:45, you can be walking out of Animal Kingdom to head to your next park.

I should have made it clear that I still have to do Dinosaur and Expedition Everest since I haven't done those. Expedition Everest I plan to do single rider...…. I was wondering also if you can suggest front row as a single rider on EE? Also if anyone has any tips for Dinosaur, wait time or just for the ride in general, I would appreciate it!

You can ask for the front row as a single rider, but it may take awhile. The single riders are seated where ever there is an empty spot.

A couple weeks ago I arrived around 105 minutes before posted park opening (but actually waited just 60 minutes before they let customers into the park) and finished both rides before the posted park opening. I guess if you are quick, you probably do not even need to use the single rider line for EE.

This. I did this successfully many times - just make sure you’re at the park an hour before official opening (it’ll actually open 20 to 30 minutes early - so you won’t really wait an hour).

:welcome: to DISboards!

Be at the entrance to the AK 90 minutes before official opening time to be at or near the front of the pack headed to FoP. From FoP you will be able to walk on Navi River. Depending on how early they decide to start the walk into Pandora you will finished both rides by 10-20 minutes after the official park opening time.

My only other tip is to get your ticket soon so that you can book your first three Fast Passes at your 30 day point. Since you will be at AK plenty early you will probably find that getting fast passes for your second park might work out best and then look for same day passes for your third park.
Wishing you a pixiedust: visit!

That is exactly what I was thinking, I started a thread about what FP to get and everyone keeps telling me to get them at AK despite me getting there extremely early. Do you have any suggestions of what FP to get if I can't get at Epcot if I can't get FEA, doing TT single rider, and not wanting to do Soarin'?

Epcot- I'd suggest Spaceship Earth and Mission Space for your tier 2 FPs
AK- If you go this route, I'd get them for Safari, Everest, and Dinosaur or Kali River. Dinosaur is a pretty easy 4th FP. As are Spaceship Earth and Mission Space. I think it will be difficult to get a 4th FP at FEA, but you can utilize refresh and hope for the best!

Everyone and their mother will be heading to Pandora at park opening (including you!), but you will be on the front end of the pack with your arrival time. As OP said, you will probably be able to walk on or nearly walk on EE and Dinosaur after you finish FOP and NRJ because everyone will be tied up in long lines at Pandora. The rest of AK stays quiet for the first hour or more of the park day due to that phenomenon. I would head from Pandora to EE first, since it does get a longer line sooner than Dinosaur. I think you should book your FPs at your second or third park.

It really depends on how crowded the park is.
You want to be at the turnstile (not the security area) at least 60 minutes before official opening time.
Most likely, you will be let in 30 minutes early and then held at the entrance of Pandora and then walked by multiple CMs to FoP or Navi.
If you are near the front of the line, your wait should be minimal.
If the park isn't too crowded, you should be able to get on Navi with a 15 minute or less wait. If the park is really crowded, all bets are off.

I’m going with my sister who doesn’t like to ride much.... she will do NRJ and Dino but won’t do FoP or EE so that’s why I want to go to Dino first and just do EE single rider... but if I can get a few more rides on Everest before Dino, I might consider going to EE first!

Oh come on... I mean I’ve never been on it but I’m guessing the sound can’t be that loud, right?

Yep. Seriously loud. I cannot count the number of people who have thanked me for calling it out and the number of people in line who have noticed them and expressed what a great idea it is. We even gave some extra ones to a family in front of us once. I really appreciate whomever it was that gave the suggestion in the first place. The ride is great but the sound is crazy loud. I get the ambience, but I like my hearing intact.

I think this can easily be done, but beware. We tried this twice, in one week, at the beginning of September. Both days we had no problems getting on FoP right away, but both days Navi was down at park open, and we never got to ride it.

Dinosaur is, by far, the loudest ride at WDW.

AND, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for the ENTIRE ride!)

And there is nothing that comes close in the EFX category of

"Pitch-blackness...

then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating

GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth

LUNGING out straight AT YOU

with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...

and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.
Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride at Disneyland.
