The Rain

I love being in DL when it's raining! We've been a couple times in the winter/early spring where it was pouring at night, and even DH, who generally hates being cold, loved it and mentioned how much fun it was.

We used to do the dollar store ponchos but I think the official Disneyland ponchos are worth it. They're very heavy duty (have lasted us several years now) and I believe if they get torn DL will replace them for free?

Waterproof boots will make your day much more pleasant. Uggs has a lot of cute leather boots that don't look like the typical Uggs. I have the Kesey boots and they are super comfy. And a billed hat under the poncho as someone else mentioned previously.

We got to the parks this after around 3 pm and it was a fairly low to medium crowd in Disneyland. Lines for Haunted Mansion, PoC and Indiana Jones were all 30 minutes or less. We rode all three of those ride 2 or more times each because the lines went so fast.

We love DLR in the rain, too! After a few rainy visits experimenting with different combinations of jackets, umbrellas, ponchos, etc., we finally invested in serious rain gear (Gore-tex! Let's hear it for summer clearance sales -- pants, jackets, hats!) and rain boots. Makes all the difference when it is pouring in the parks. This is when you get your own log on Splash Mountain and the CMs keep asking you how many times you want to ride again. (Hey, I'm prepared: bring it!) You'll see it thin down to a handful of diehard guests riding the rides in the pouring rain -- and all of us will be the ones wearing various forms of s.e.r.i.o.u.s (!!) rain gear. LOL! You know it's bad when you start recognizing the other guests on rides by their rain gear -- "Oh, look! There's the guy in the fishing waders! And there's the lady with the cute rain boots!" By the end of the night the various groups are usually waving at each other on rides and comparing notes on how the rain gear is holding up. :)

The grapevine is CLOSED for snow! I’ve seen it lightly snow but it looks gnarly! If you’re from the Bay Area KRON 4 has a video up.

Checking the radar right now and it looks like it’s pouring in Anaheim!

It is indeed pouring in Anaheim. I just checked into the GCH after being at Homewood Suites all week for a conference. GCH lobby is a madhouse of people looking for shelter. I haven't gone into the parks yet and probably won't until it tapers off this evening. I saw lots of people slogging down Harbor back to various hotels and everyone was soaked, even with ponchos/umbrellas. I got soaked with an umbrella walking from the convention center to the Homewood (so maybe a block and a half). Phone went off with an emergency alert for a Flash Flood Warning about 2 hours ago too.

I've done Disney in the rain but this is a bit intense. Waits look good for what's open but a LOT is "Temporarily Closed" (DCA Closed: Goofy's, Golden Zephyr, IC, RSR, Maters, Luigi-so all of CarsLand. DL Closed: Autopia, IASW, Alice, Mr Toad, Casey Jr, Canal Boats, Gadgets, Roger Rabbit, Jungle Cruise)

Yesterday was GLORIOUS!! It rained a few times but mostly on and off drizzle so a rain jacket and stroller cover meant you were dry all day no issue and every ride minus RSR was instant return FP until closing!! RSR was available until maybe 7-8 pm!! Rides were basically walk on all day and my feet and head stayed dry all day with just a rain jacket/hood. Today.... yeah I walked to DTD from BWPPI (non park day) and I was literally soaked from head to toe after 5 mins!! It was an ugly rain today so hopefully everyone packed boots, heavy rain gear and their Love of pouring down water all day today- lines we’re probably great for whatever was open (almost nothing was closed yesterday even RSR). Rain should be gone by tomorrow though

Yesterday was the best Disneyland day I’ve ever had. Yes it was occasionally rainy and always cold, but as a PP said, virtually every ride was a walk-on if you knew how to use FPs. I got so much accomplished in such a short time that I actually tired myself out too fast and had to bail early.

I can’t even imagine what the parks were like today. I’m close by and the rain hit hard for a solid two or three hours. Side ways, cold windy rain! But i bet the lines were non existent!!

We got really lucky on Wednesday. We managed to miss any significant rain and got to reap the benefits of basically non existent crowds. We flew home today and the weather was awful. I feel like I would have had to call it quits if I was in the park today. It looked miserable.

The rain is largely gone now but crowds are still low. Less than 30min before fireworks (looks like they’re planning to go atvthis point anyway) and I just walked up to a spot right in front of the castle. Ride times are short (pretty much everything is back up) and FP still available for everything that’s still open.

So if you have the flexibility sometimes heading in after the rain is good!
