Plans have been filed for DVC expansion at Caribbean Beach Resort

Looks kind of basic- I know it's not the feature pool but the landscaping could be nicer (queen palms, etc) and the building itself is rather plain. Feeling less confident about this now.. looking forward to seeing lobby and other interior renderings.

Yea I like queen better as well. The other pool will hopefully help, the balconies are always great to have. I always worry those will go away for safety reasons.

5 min to EPCOT though will be so nice.

Well, it’s very grey...10 stories of a concrete rectangle, charming - not.
Those balconies almost look to be Juliette balconies.

Small much like BLT, but gets you out in that FL air even when back at the room.

Unlike Coronado Springs, just an awful feeling to look out when its 80 degrees in the winter, but you can't step out an enjoy it. Maybe others aren't up yet, kids naps etc.

So a few observations:

- Some are mentioning that's not the main pool. We better hope so because that is a small unimpressive pool. (I know there might be one that's off image.)
-As suspected the building is angled so that two wings (The ones in the center of the picture) will have fireworks views of Epcot.
- Note the rendering show 7 floors of guest rooms on the two wings furthest away - but if you look at the wing closest on the right, there are eight floors of guest rooms. Is this because the restaurant/observation deck on the fireworks wing?
- Agree that we are likely to see three room categories - Theme Park View (Small percent of upper rooms on opposite side), Pool/Water View (everything on the side in view) and standard view (some of the rooms on opposite side with no view of fireworks.
- One thing I observed last trip is the resort is VERY unobtrusive from the park. That turret in the middle of the fireworks is about the only thing that can clearly be seen from across the lagoon in Epcot. Anyone concerned about views in the park shouldn't worry, it will be significantly less disruptive than the Swan and Dolphin already are.

Appears to be no doubt on a second pool. Impressive or not time will tell.

An odd choice to put two pools so close to eachother instead of one rather large pool, but hey whatever. The other pool does seem to be perhaps twice the size, so more than likely the "main" pool. Assume they'll throw a slide and a drippy house nearby (my family's name for the play areas). It's certainly no Stormalong Bay, but doesn't mean it won't be a nice addition to the Disney pools. (Of course they'll likely declare "no hopping" on it since they seem to do that everywhere now.)

This appears to be "taken" from the observation/dining deck?

At first kinda bummed it wasn't on the EPCOT corner.

But the more I think about it, it is a nicer overall view with the pools and lake, not the roads and parking lot.

It also will have a view of DHS fireworks I believe, as well as the higher EPCOT fireworks.

Yea CBR guests could be a big impact if hopping is allowed.

I think the pictured pool will be the adultish escapish pool.

By the way, is there a chance that round corner dome near EPCOT is for viewing? Or is that the Presidential suite.

Oh, I seriously doubt they let CBR guests hop to Riviera. I was more thinking of other DVC resort guests. DVC members are supposed to have "pool hopping" privileges, but if you look at the numbers more pools are disallowed than are allowed. Would hope this one would be allowed - might be a neat mid-day break when traveling from DHS to Epcot - but I am doubting it.

Can't help but wonder if the illuminations replacement will in part be optimized so the Riviera guests can view it. I could see where the main show of illuminations being at water level would make it less than spectacular from the Riviera.

Well the concept art for the new show shows a lot of water based things still.

I honestly think that can be better. I think with the water you can get closer to the edge of the lagoons, where with the fire effects you can not. So I think that will work better at least in the world showcase.
Having seen world of color in California and Rivers of light, I think that would be an improvement in viewing angle compared to the globe in illuminations.
Conversely, I think you could do epcot a world of good by putting in concrete seating around the lagoon, similar to rivers of light. Our last trip, we did a fast pass for illuminations, and that slight ramp they put you on made on the difference in the world for viewing that show. Three rows of concrete seating that reduces the water foot print in a few spots would be a nice change.

I am just speaking in terms of viewing from Riviera. Water based aspects may not work as well there.

It is. Look at the aerial page.

Oh I see. You're talking about the dug out area on the peninsula on the left side in the aerial photo correct?

Does anyone know what the three sided construction dealio is on the left side of the main building?
