Any idea who has the best deals on iPhones?

We are planning on getting our twin sons iPhones for Christmas (they are the only 7th graders without phones, or so they say ). Any idea who has the best deals this time of year? I’m thinking we are going to go with the iPhone 7, but I did see in Target’s Black Friday ad that you get a $150 Target g/c with purchase of an iPhone 8. Can I purchase one iPhone 8, get the g/c and then turn around and use the g/c towards the second iPhone 8? Any suggestions of other deals?

TIA!

Not sure what deals they are offering now, but Virgin Mobile has good service for $33.83 per month for unlimited. Last time I bought an I*Phone from them they were selling them for $179.

I don't know which carrier you use, but check to see what kind of deals they have.

Maybe you are lucky and you can use any carrier. Where I am, you have to use a certain carrier to get decent reception.

Check the Black Friday thread. The OP has been putting the ads in the first post. Walmart’s deals looked promising. I never buy phones at the holidays but I was actually tempted by those for my kids who have phones and don’t need them. :rotfl:

Walmart is offering $400 gift cards with the iPhone 8, 8 Plus or X, and $300 gift cards with the newest iPhones that just came out when you buy with your carrier's installment plan.

As far as using one gift card to purchase the second phone, when I bought two iPhones from Target, I only paid taxes at the time of purchase. The monthly installment fee is charged on my Verizon bill (but I didn't try paying for the phone in full).

I'm tempted to buy the Samsung galaxy s9+ so hopefully there are good deals.

I'm really hoping for great deals on the Samsung website for unlocked phones

On the Target deal... to get the gift card you can't buy the phones outright. You have to buy them with an installment plan. So there is no using the $150 gift card on the second phone.

Target often has these gift card deals, and they are pretty good. Since you're looking for 2 phones, keep your eyes posted for BOGO deals from your carrier. Those are often an even better deal. Considering an iPhone 8 is $699, that equals a bigger get than the gift card deal.

Good to know. Yes, we want to pay for the phones outright. I’ll keep checking with my carrier for deals.

It might depend on your carrier but with AT&T Next a few years ago I was able to go on the plan and then go in later and pay the balance off.

We went to Best Buy tonight to take advantage of the buy one get one deal with at&t for Iphones. The catch is that you have to get directv too. We normally would prefer directv over our cable provider but our tree line doesn’t allow us to get satellite tv. So we were out of luck. Bummer.

My iPhone 6 is just about dead so I am waiting until next week to get the iPhone XS with $250 gift card. It's good timing. Very excited!

With the exception of the Iphone SE which Target is selling unlocked for I believe 129--which BT is the same phone as the 6S with a smaller screen-- the only place you can buy an unlocked Iphone with no carrier is the apple store or of course used or some sellers on EBay... All other places will require you to sign up with a carrier even paying the full price of course the phone can than be unlocked after you are with the carrier for whatever term they require. The only carrier that sells unlocked full price Iphone's is Verizon but again you have to get a plan to buy it...
Most kids at that age do have phones ranging from Iphone 6-10 few will have a 5S or SE and even less other brands.... It stinks...but like whatever was in when you went to school and everyone wanted. The big thing is Fortnite you need an SE or 7 or higher to play otherwise it will run slooooow.
My son in 7th grade has a 7 that I bought from the apple store when it was still 550... I just bought an XR from the apple store... I also have a great phone plan for 25.00 a month all in for each phone through the back end of a major carrier... Also when you buy a phone through apple you can go to any carrier as they are not locked to any nor are they GSM or CDMA specific they will also work in other countries if you travel (you will pay for the service). Some carriers will sell you a GSM or CDMA only phone check the models before you lock into a carrier if you go that route.... In general Sprint and Verizon both have the universal Iphone model where as ATT and T-Mobile are in most cases GSM only phones or have less of the CDMA bands and will not work well or at all with a CDMA carrier.
For the record T-Mobile owns Metro PCS, Sprint owns Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile, ATT owns Cricket if you watch the deals as they do compete you can get sometime unlimited data, calls and texts for 25 a month all in when you switch a few lines and you can add new ones. Boost usually has deals on Iphones but be aware they are 1 year to unlock and may not work on GSM carriers as they do discount the phones but make sure Sprint works well in your area.
Most important is the case for budget friendly check Supcase on Amazon and the is another brand called BBalsm I believe they both have screen covers and large corners on the cases and work very well for drops and your kids WILL drop the phones...
If your kids are OK with an SE that is your best choice... cheap and still an Iphone and a perfectly good functioning one at that... if not you may have to come to the unfortunate conclusion that you will pay big bucks for the phone or the plan to get the phone discounted... no Major carrier gives you a discounted Iphone unless you get the higher end plan... or you can buy them for a reputable place refurbished from EBay or like.

I just have to give a huge plug for Cricket wireless. They have Apple phones, android etc. I always buy my phones outright. I just added my 11 yr old so know we have 3 lines. Total $89/mos unlimited everything including taxes. The phones operate on the Verizon network and I have travelled throughout the US and have not had any problems with reception at all. Their customer service is amazing. I know so many people only want Apple products, but we just can not fathom having to pay $600-700 for 1 phone. All of our phones have cost less than $350. We plan to use them until they die many years from now.

Cricket operates on the ATT network not Verizon it is fully owned by ATT. As far as I am aware Verizon does not have a direct owned backend carrier. ATT and T-Mobile Run on the GSM network, Verizon and Sprint run on the CDMA network. Some areas work getter on CDMA some GSM other indifferent... Main difference is the phones most upper end CDMA phones will have all bands including GSM where as there are specific models of the upper end phones that will be missing some of the CDMA bands making them unable to be used on Verizon or Sprint... Mostly all phones sold by Sprint and Verizon are the universal phones that can be used worldwide but there are some models that are USA specific... But this only matters if travel overseas and are willing to pay the fees....
I agree I-phones are overpriced BUT if speed truly matters and for most it will not when you deal with it in real life.. even the best newest Android phones will be on a level to compete with an I-phone 7 at best.... Apple has a way of exploiting all resources that some how Android has not been able to achieve but for that you will pay for the Apple name as well...

You can get an I*Phone 6 from Virgin for $179. That is a decent price.

Walmart is offering the $300 gc on the same phone. I am not a fan of Walmart so I will be at Target for the $250 gc as well.
