50s Prime Time/Sci Fi

I couldn't decide between 50s PT and Sci Fi restaurants. I think 50s would be fun and entertaining for my family but feel my son would LOVE eating in a car. So I booked 5:20pm 50s dinner based on avail but now I see they have availability for 7:20pm Sci Fi so I was thinking of doing dessert to try both restaurants. Is this a good idea? Is the spacing good between meal and dessert? TIA

We were at 50s Prime Time on Monday and it was a blast. Our server "Aunt Betty" was awesome and the whole family enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend.

You could do both, but it would be very time consuming. If you're ok with that, go for it. I think the timing would be fine, unless you're a larger party. I'll also warn that 50s Prime Time has some good desserts and shakes, possibly better than the shakes and offerings at Sci Fi.

We love both restaurants and think they are the best themed on property. For dinner, I tend to lean towards 50s Prime Time because the entrees are heartier - fried chicken, meatloaf, etc. Its a heavier meal and the portions are larger, so keep that in mind when considering dessert elsewhere. The fare at Sci Fi can be lighter and more lunch-style to us. They both are super unique atmospheres to dine in, but I think the theme of 50s Prime Time is often lost on the younger kids. The car-style table at Sci Fi is usually a hit with kids. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I wouldn't do both personally. I would decide based on what my plans are for the rest of the day (dining, park, rides, FPs, etc) and which time works better with our schedule.

I would stick with 50’s PTC. We have dinner there every trip we love it. They have great food and desserts. Sci Fi is just ok and I would not waste park time eating at both.

Agree with @DaisyDuck001 that lunch at one (early) and then a later dinner at the other would be your best bet. I also make the decision on which one to eat at based upon the time of year. I like the food and atmosphere at 50's but their food is generally heavy so I don't usually want it in the summer. SciFi menu tends to have some lighter options so its our summer place.

We prefer 50s food and atmosphere. Sitting in the dark and quiet of SciFi was kind of a weird scene but the little movie clips are fun. 50s is livelier and the food was better. The milkshake there blew the SciFi milkshake away.

Trying both is, in theory, a good idea but having two ADRs is a time suck and while both are fun, strolling around the park and riding rides is a lot more fun. I would pick one and stick with it. You can’t go wrong either way but neither place is life changing either.

I like both, but would do Sci-Fi over 50’s. My boys LOVED Sci-Fi, and I find the atmosphere there the best at WDW. I found the food comparable at both, so for me it’s down to atmosphere and what I think the kids will enjoy.

I had the same problem last trip.We ended up getting reservations for both on different days. My pick of the 2 would be Sci Fi.

We're they still doing the "elbows off the table", "eat your veggies" type thing? I know they were ssupposed to be cutting back on the antics like at WCC - just wondering since you mentioned having a good time with your server.

We have been to both and would highly recommend 50's Prime Time over Sci-Fi. The food at 50's PT is really good, and so was the service. Our meal at Sci-Fi left a lot to be desired - actually it was not good at all. We ordered burgers and the meat was the quality of a pre-made frozen patty. No texture at all, and cooked well done even though we ordered medium. I would not go back.

It really depends on the server. We eat at 50s every trip often more than once. My daughter loves the fried chicken. We have had some dud servers who acted like they wanted to be anywhere but there and we have had some outstanding servers. We had so much fun in July with both servers we got. One night we were seated by our New York 'cousins' (We are from Texas) and our server (Faraz) had the whole area in stitches with his interaction between our two tables. A few days later we had another very good server (don't remember his name unfortunately) who introduced us to cousin Carol who sounds just like Roz from Monsters inc. (which he of course pointed out and kept kidding her about). We love the antics, but mostly go because we love the old 50s look and the food.

Our last trip in October, we ate at 50s diner. After reading about how fun the servers were, our experience was very disappointing. Other than the costumes, there was nothing different about the service at our table or any of the 8 tables with different servers I could see. I had read about the servers kidding about eating your veggies, cleaning your plate before dessert, joking with the guests. Saw none of that at any of the tables.
I had read that they were cutting back on this interaction and by our visit, they certainly have.
The food is very good and worth going for itself.
