Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

9 Days until our first stay at BCV! Thank you for all of the information on this thread. It has been used MANY times in planning this trip!

With an early flight getting in at 10:00, and the BCV not ready until 4:00, how would you spend your non-park time in the BC/YC/BW area? We have three kids (10,8 & 5) and will bring pool clothes. But in case of rain or if it's chilly, I would like some other options! We will be at Disney Springs later in the week so we don't want to head there on our first day. We will eat QS lunch & dinner on arrival day, if that helps.

Thanks in advance!!

There is a mini golf course across from the swan & dolphin. You can walk from Beach Club. If you are up for a bus ride, the winter summer land course near Blizzard beach is especially cute for kids. You take the animal kingdom bus & transfer to the blizzard beach bus there. It has a Christmas theme & is a lot of fun.

There is always Fantasia mini golf

A message on the Hub, dated 10/19/2018, states that the FriendShip boats will have normal ops, except for EPCOT, from late Nov 2018 till late Dec 2018. The walkway to/from the IG will remain open for foot traffic and park entry/exit, though there will be no boat service. Boat service at Boardwalk, YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin and DHS will operate as normal.
So if I wanted to take the boat from HS to EP, I could still get a boat to BC then use the IG to walk to EP? And for the reverse trip, walk to BC then boat to HS? Just trying to understand the logistics!!

And Dee, can you please add us to the Be Our Guest list? Ecstatic that our waitlist came through in 1 day! BCV 6/8-6/11/19. Thank you!!

The boat dock for YC/BC is located at the YC. So, you will be able to ride the boat from HS to the YC and then take about a 7-10 minute walk from there to the IG at EPCOT. You could also get off at either the Swan/Dolphin dock or at the Boardwalk, and walk from there, but the walk would be slightly longer. There is usually an announcement made onboard that some time can be saved by getting off the boat at the Swan/Dolphin dock and walking over to EPCOT, but if you want a shorter walk, exit at the YC. To catch the boat to ride over to HS, when coming from the IG, board at the YC dock.

It's decided. A fabulous long weekend at BC will be the way I celebrate my 50th birthday. Feb 15-18, BC std view.

I was toying with Contemporary theme park view, in a try-somewhere-new, go-big-or-go-home kind of way, but BC is where my heart lies, and the general public discount I got at BC is way larger than the AP discount at CR. And I've got B&C and Cape May reservations, so BC just makes way more sense.

DH is very indulgent of my Disney Habit, and all told this year we'll have done 7 long weekend trips to WDW by the time I have to renew our APs in May...May YC, Sept YC, Oct BW, Dec WL, Feb BC, April OKW, May POFQ (and then BC again in September). Yup, we're trying a whole bunch of new spots, but I keep drifting back to YC/BC. :-)

Deciding on a resort. Down to YC and another.
DH is concerned about bussing at YC. What resorts does YC share a bus with? Specifically to AK, if it makes a difference.

Normally the YC is the first stop and then a stop at Beach Club and then off to the park. However depending on the time of day (mid-day or the very last buses from the AK, additional stops may happen. It may be an addition of the BWI / BWV or on some nights the second or third park closing buses may even be all the Epcot resorts. (Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC, BWI/BWV).

We just stayed at bc and the yacht club was picked up before coming to us when we took the bus to ak

Thanks!
DH was convinced the norm was YC-BC-Swan-Dolphin. Sounds like it is more the exception.

In my last three stays over the past year it has always been YC and BC sharing a bus, but we did not share with any of the other Epcot resorts, not to say it couldn't happen but it is not something that I have encountered recently.

We just returned from the BC and the only time the bus was shared, other than with the YC, was the bus from Disney Springs. It was packed with ALL 5 of the Epcot resorts. It was ridiculous to be honest. We were jammed in like sardines about 5 pm. Not good customer service for 5 deluxe resorts!

We have stayed at the YC or BC several times a year for the last 5 years and we have not stopped at Swan and Dolphin during any of our trips or for any parks in all that time. The last time we were on a bus that stopped at Swan/Dolphin was the Disney Springs bus. There have been a few stops at BWI on the MK bus, though.

Thanks!

The Swan and Dolphin now runs it own bus. If is does share a resort it only shares with Boardwalk.

There are always exceptions with the resort buses, though, but they are rare.

We normally stay at BWI. YC & BC normally had their own busses. BWI shared with Swan/dolphin most times. If BWI was included with YC/BC it was always the last stop.

Then there was the night we hijacked the bus. At MK closing there was a long line for BWI S/D bus. Other resort busses came and went. Finally a bus came to our stop. It was very late and the bus was very quiet. Folks were surprised when the bus by passed the S/D and went to YC. No one got off. So the driver went on to BC. The driver was confused when everyone just sat there. Finally some guy in the back shouted “this is the Boardwalk bus”. The driver muttered a little, shook his head and drove on to the Boardwalk. It appears sometimes the driver doesn’t know what the sign on the bus says.

This is so random! When we went in late September, we were only 6-7 on the bus back to BC/YC from Disney Springs. There was a separate bus going back to the Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin and they ended up waiting after we took off..It was probably around 9:00 PM so maybe they combine them earlier in the day?

Thanks! We’re doing YC this time. 9/16 -9/22

Thanks!

Thanks! No we wouldn't just be heading back to get snacks and drinks, I would be resting for quite a while. I can't go all day and night at the parks anymore! I'm getting too old for that! :D

I understand the distances and time it takes between the parks and the resort. We have stayed at The Swan several times and i know it can take some time to get back and forth to the parks. I think I may just keep my standard room though, now that I have thought about it for a bit!

Sorry I have taken so long to get around to giving you an official

:welcome:

to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

I need to keep reading to see if you decided to upgrade to CL or not.

:thumbsup2

You can add me!!! :bounce: We're staying CL at the BC on April 13, 2019 (it's a pre-cruise stay).

Will do!

I’m checking out today, 10/27, and I will have a few grocery items if anybody’s interested. A couple bottles of water, (16.9 ounce), some spreadable butter, half a dozen eggs, couple slices of bacon, cream cheese, pint of half and half and deli sliced American cheese. Otherwise it’s just going to get thrown away. PM me

That was a very nice offer. Did anyone take you up on it?

:goodvibes

How is the noise from the arrivals? I have heard that there can be noise during much of the night. I am in a standard room in December, and I've been trying to figure out what my room request should be.

We had a problem during our last stay at the Yacht Club. We have a lot of Magic Bands, but we didn't experience problems until they replaced the locks halfway during our stay. Most of our Magic Bands were inactive in MDE at the time. We were told that IT would need to remove them from the system completely (not just making them inactive in MDE). I searched on the DISboards, and it appears that others have had to do the same thing. On that trip, the Magic Bands that they fixed continued to work, so I didn't bother calling IT to remove them from the system.

I don't think I have you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add your trip.

I always felt that BC is a LOUD resort. The lobby is loud, the hallway is loud, and even the convenient store is loud. We stayed at the YC for our last visit and it was soooooo quiet there. We walked to the BC for some water bottles and immediately had to speak in our loudest voice in order to hear each other.

:welcome: to posting on this forum!

:thumbsup2

As far as Bounceback blackout dates, Disney has excluded Friday and Saturday nights in Jan, Feb, March, and Apr 2019, as well as all of Oct/Nov and about the first week of December 2019. Checking availability at the YC, two types of rooms were available for my dates at the YC - CL Water View or the Turret Suite.

Bounceback offers no longer necessarily offer the best discounts. Sometimes, other promo offers meet or exceed BB discounts.

Thanks for pointing out some of the terms and restrictions of the latest Bounceback.
