How late will Ohana hold a reservation?

If you have a Touring Plans subscription (highly recommended...we love it!) you can use their reservation finder to search for a later time and be notified when one crops up.

Happy to meet another NC DIS'er!

I’ve had the touring plans alert set for months. No luck so far! :(

And hello fellow Carolinian!

I honestly think you'll be fine, and I've found CM's at the host stand to be much more flexible than we give them credit for, but it does sound like it might stress you out. If you did hit a major traffic snafu, a quick call to dining would be your answer to cancelling it though...

Also note that we ALWAYS get stuck getting into the Poly parking lot. Their guard booth seems to back up - once we sat in a line for more than 10 minutes! We might just have bad luck but we've consistently hit long lines there and not at any of the other hotels. Just FYI.

'Ohana pops up a lot the day or two before - don't give up! The reservation finder is great but also don't forget to check yourself, esp the night before. There are tables for tomorrow night popping up right now.

I would just cancel and not stress yourself out. You really can't predict the traffic nor any issues you might encounter during your travels.

I'd just plan for a QS meal somewhere once you get on property. I'm not sure where you are staying but the swan and dolphin have restaurants which are available on open table - so you can reserve and if you don't make it in time you do not get charged like you would with the WDW restaurants.

Stressing out for food that might turn out to be good or barely edible doesn’t seem worth it to me. But then again until this place gets over it’s inconsistent quality I’m done

We’re staying at the Contemporary. I don’t really want to venture over to Swan/Dolphin. We’ll just keep trying for a later time or else we’ll probably do QS at MK.

I know it’s gotten inconsistent reviews lately. We really enjoyed it on our last trip though so we’re going to try it again if we can get a later reservation.

My answer really depends on your own. How disappointed will you be to miss it? How much stress will it add when traffic slows?

If you are ok if you miss it and fine with paying the fee, then give it a shot. If missing it starts your trip with disappointment then no way. No meal is worth feeling bummed on arrival and getting off on the wrong foot of a great trip.

Could you plan a backup that you would also be excited about, if you don’t make it in time?

‘Ohana always has inconsistent reviews. I don’t get the live but to each their own

You have less than a 5% timing window.

Can’t be worth it. If you get a late start, any traffic at all, an extra rest stop visit...anything can cause a delay.

My personal policy is nothing non refundable on arrival day. You could get there on time, you could arrive 6 hours late. It happens.

Ooh if you're staying at CR then do The Wave if you can find a better time! We ADORE that place!

I agree!!!! We ate at the Wave for the first time last week, and I know we will be going back. Everything we had was amazing.

If Ohana is a "must do", I would keep it. And then, as you are driving, if it looks like it is not feasible, just modify the reservation...to either a new day and then cancel, or modify it to a restaurant that WILL work that night..

5% timing window? What does that mean? 5% of what?

There are many restaurants at Disney Springs and some of the resorts on opentable, including The Wave. You can cancel without penalty on there. I would not keep your ADR unless you leave even earlier. It took me over 2.5 hours just to get from Jacksonville to Disney once and we have experienced the crazy traffic in and around Charlotte.

They will hold a reservation for 15 minutes. I know this because in September I called Disney Dining from inside a monorail that was having issues (stuck on the tracks at MK), and we were going to be very late to our Ohana reservation as a result. I was told they would be able to hold the reservation for 15 minutes, and after this it was up to the restaurant if they would be willing to “restore” the reservation. We were more than 15 minutes late and had no problem with keeping our reservation; however, we were on a broken monorail and weren’t the only guests who arrived late. I suppose they could have turned us all away, but they definitely made more money allowing us to keep the reservations than just charging the no-show fee!

That said, I agree with others who have said that in your case, it’s cutting it too close. I would not want that kind of stress. Keep checking for a later reservation. Also a little known trick: you can take a reservation for a larger size party and modify it to the size of your party. A year ago I managed to find a BOG reservation for a party of 10, which I modified to fit our party of 4. So when you check (which you should do multiple times a day. Sounds like lot of work, but it only takes a few seconds), start with your party size and then check for larger ones. Good luck!

I drive in from just 2 1/2 hours away from Disney, and between the weather (rain), the never ending road construction and just parking, I’ve been up to an hour late for an ADR. Raglan and Wine Bar George both seated us, but it was so stressful. You’re making good time and you near you destination, suddenly it goes to hell and a hand basket! It happens every time, but good luck!

Lucky you can still call those restaurants directly:cool:.
