Will Disney Restaurants Allow for Adding to a part of 2 (to make 4)

Hi Everyone,

I have dining reservations for a few restaurants for me and wife. We have 2 that want to join and knowing most tables seat 4, what suggestions for adding these 2 relatives. If I call the Reservation Line or just bring the along to the restaurants...

Thank you!

This is most likely not going to work. Try to change it to 4. Due to last minute cancellations that may happen keep checking especially the night before and the morning of.

Use the Disney telephone dining telephone line, MDE, TP's reservation finder and/or this forum's dining cancellation sub forum to change the reservation.

It's not just table size. It's also capacity, fire code, and servers available. If you just show up with 2 extra people, be prepared to be told "no" and have a plan B. If you decide not to take what's offered and leave, you may be charged the $10 per person no show fee.

If you actually show up in person they won’t charge the $10 fee regardless of what happens

Try to find an ADR for 4.

If you are unable to find one, and show up with the extra 2 people, they may or may not seat you. If they do seat you, it may or may not result in a longer wait (by quite a bit). No one can tell you the chances of success. A lot of it would depend on if the restaurant had no-shows shortly before you arrive.

Having read on these boards forever that the won’t seat you with extra people I was nervous that DD did not include her 2 yo in the ADR count and it was not a problem every where we went and we were a party of 9.

Adding a 2 year old with a large party is not as much of an issue as adding two additional adults to a party of two. As others have stated, they may have planned to put two people at a 2-top table and having four substantially changes the booking. Adding a young child to a large party likely won't change the table that they'd be at since it's going to have to be large enough anyway and a child takes less space than an adult (well, that does depend on the child - I personally used to spread out my personal space as a child when dining).

And anything is possible. It will depend on how busy things are, how fast the turnover of sufficiently larger tables are compared to the number waiting for those tables, etc. One just has to be prepared to be told no and not expect that accommodation is possible or that other positive experiences will impact one's own experience. An ADR of the appropriate size is the most reliable means of ensuring you'll get in. I second the suggestion to keep trying even right up to a couple of hours beforehand - people do cancel at the last minute.

A party of 9 would likely be seated at a table with a capacity to hold 10 so adding another human (assuming firecodes had space to allow it) is MUCH more feasible than trying to add two more people to a party of only 2 where they would have a two-top reserved.

It is Disney though and pixie dust does happen so it's always possible the restaurant would find a way to accommodate the extra 2 guests for the OP.

Make your reservations for 4 and if 2 don't show up then you are still ok. Always easier to downsize vs increase for ADRs

Go on the website and see if you can modify your current ADR to include your guests for an acceptable time slot.

If that doesn't work...

Call Disney and work with a cast member to see if they can conjure some pixie dust for you.

If you have your heart (and plans) set on a particular place and/or time and you subscribe to Touring Plans, use the reservation finder tool. You can also do the stalking yourself by checking the Disney Dining site or calling frequently.

If you aren't particular about the location, check the site or call to see what is available and pick something that fits your desired time and party size. Even though there's lots of anxiety on these boards about getting ADRs, I *always* see amazing choices available and often book at the last minute, as in walking to the restaurant.

Something to keep in mind for last minute changes: you may have some luck just showing up with your extra folks. Disney wants its guests to be happy, realizes that stuff happens, and tries their best to work with you. We've run into friends in the park who want to join us for a meal or someone suddenly wants to drop out of a group ADR at the last moment. We've always been accommodated but realize that there's no guarantee.

Use the Disney telephone dining telephone line, MDE, TP's reservation finder and/or this forum's dining cancellation sub forum to change the reservation.

I also had luck with Mouse Dining alerts. I even set up the same alert in both Mouse Dining and TP reservation finder as they seem to run at different times.

One other thing - I booked two 1 person reservations for BOG - one in my name, one in my husbands. Then I set up alerts for 2 and 3 people. I was able to flip one of our reservations to a 3 person yesterday (and I found that one using the December ADR cancellation thread). BOG is not your standard sit down restaurant though and I'd stick with everyone else's advice to get a 4 person reservation for typical restaurants.
