Fantasmic! Dining Packages ending?

WOW! Man, I hope this is true. I wouldn't be forced to buy an already expensive meal at an even-higher mark-up to get a seat for the show. I could get a FP and get a seat....like it used to be! Like it should be! I like the idea of once we enter DL, we're all on equal footing. Money no longer matters.

Nah. Disney isn't going to just give up a revenue stream like this. Maybe they won't sell expensive dining packages anymore, but that doesn't necessarily mean all Fantasmic fastpasses will be included in the price of admission. Maybe it will be paper machines and Maxpass distribution. Maybe it will still be some sort of tiered distribution. If all of the spots currently reserved for dining are reserved only for Maxpass, then that's still an upcharge. Maybe Disney Entertainment and Disney Dining are just working on the scheduling and logistics, and the Dine Line CM really has no idea what is going on. Shrug. Guess we wait and see. I haven't seen Fantasmic since the dining packages and new show, but if I was going to take the time to do it, I would probably choose the dining pass after years of having done it the old way. If they do revert to the old free fastpass system for Fantasmic, then they will make up that revenue some other way. My current guess is that there will still be dining packages at Disneyland, but if they aren't for Fantasmic then they might be tied to special viewing areas for the new projections/sometimes fireworks show coming in January. A projections show does have the disadvantage that some spots will definitely be much better for viewing than others, so why not sell the good viewing spots at a premium?

Wouldnt that be nice....sadly with the addition of $5 drying machines at GRR it looks like Disney has joined the nickel and diming of all the lesser parks

I wonder if they are going back to dessert party packages and using the dining areas for those? They could do it the old way they did it with the desert box and chairs, or they could do it the way WDW does it which is have a dessert party elsewhere which gives passes for the priority viewing area. Not sure where they would put an out of the viewing area dessert party.

To me it looks like they're offering it between 12/15-30, there's just no availability...
Yes there has not been any availability. They said they had not opened up reservations for HB for the last two weeks of December. I was just wondering if anyone had called to make a reservation. I havnt had the time to wait on the phone.

I would actually love a return to a dessert party package! I remember doing it once waaaay back in the day before FP and other options.

OP, I'm most impressed that you waited for 45 minutes for your call! I nearly hung up last time I called at the 6 minute mark.

I will be seriously annoyed if they remove the dining package, as it will leave me no option but to pay for something I can only use for the Fantasmic Fastpass, not for the whole day
You still wouldn't need to purchase MP. F! FPs aren't even available on MP at this time, and, even if they are, you can still get one from the kiosk.

The theory is that they are going to make them bookable by Maxpass ONLY.

This is also what some people theorize they will do with the SW rides. No paper FP, just Maxpass.

No idea what these theories are based on, but that’s what she’s talking about.
