Will Sci-fi open up?

I have been trying since my window opened up to book Sci Fi at Hollywood Studios for a late dinner for four on Dec 11. Not once have I seen it available at any dinner time. I booked Mama Melrose at 7:55 just so I could have something, but we really prefer Sci Fi. Does his restaurant typically have reservation times open up the closer we get to our dates? Also, since we would finish dinner after park closing, will all the lights still be on so we could take some nice photos in our way out?? Thanks

Sci Fi has become very popular and a bit hard to get. That said people hold backup plans, change plans and cancel all the time. Set up a touring plans reservation finder alert, I've had fantastic luck with it even with hard to get ADRs.

Yes lights will still be on

Just keep trying. The closer you get, the more likely you are to get one. I made a reservation two days prior recently.

There are a few walk up picnic tables in the back- not car tables. I don’t know what the typical wait is though.

Jingle Bell Jingle Bam starts at 8:30 and lasts about 15 min so not only will the park lights still be on as you’re leaving but there will also be some stragglers shopping or just taking their time to the exit till bus lines die down. Sci fi is very hard to get and close to impossible to change once you do get it. An alert is your best bet, but I would also check periodically on Dec 10th. People have to cancel by the end of the day on the 10th to avoid cancelation fees if they changed their plans.

Sign up for a reservation finder. Those help me a lot to get unavailable restaurants. You just have to get on quick to grab it after you get the text.

Just for your reference we eat at SciFi just about every trip and I never book our reservation until day of or day before. Now we are a party of 3 and generally do lunch, but last minute reservations always pop up for us

Hey, try checking again! This morning, I got a notification that a bunch of times opened up for the day I was looking for (mid-November), it's possible more times opened up for more days.

i was able to get a ressie for our trip in Feb. it popped up on my touring plans reservation finder. are you signed up for text alerts? i have much better success with them than mouse dining.

I had a Touring Plans reservation alert for 12/12 dinner just pop up this morning, and while that specific time was gone by the time I logged in, there were numerous others available that evening. Really excited since this was the last piece of the puzzle for our trip!

I had an 8:45 ADR on a day the park closed at 8:30, and I loved it! The restaurant was not full, and seemed just so relaxing. And I really enjoyed walking out of the park with just a random person or 2 around. Found it interesting how they basically had a line of people at the bus stop, and when a bus pulled up they asked the first in line what resort and then that is where the bus went.

There's a 6:45 for 4 on 12/11 open right now! Hope you get it!

It's so weird how many have opened in the last couple of days. After checking multiple times a day, I was finally able to snag one yesterday for December 1st. Then a couple hours later, I got a notification from Touring Plans that another one had opened up. I am just happy to have finally gotten one!

Yep, another vote for keep trying; it'll open up! (I'd tried for an elusive Tusker House ressie weeks ago with no luck. Tonight there were lots to choose from!)
