She's On Top of the World, a September 2018 TR at Copper Creek Villas and Cabins (Completed 12/20)

How did the fireplace change colors? I know that the kids were impressed that there were two sides to it.
There are color changing LEDs that light up the fireplace, and you can change the color with the switches on the wall. It was pretty neat. My favorite was green, but that's just me.

The villas zero entry pool is really nice but nothing beats the appeal of a slide. :) It would have been nice if Allie could have gone in the kiddie splash pad. That would have been fun, too.
Yeah, kids do love slides. We avoided the splash pad since Allie was too tall, and Marshall wasn't excited about it yet. It is too bad they are strict about the height restriction, but at least they seem to be consistent.

I think Melissa and Marshal made a good choice by going back to the hot tub even if it had a vicious lizard. :)
Oh yes, the hot tub was a good decision, and became quite popular.

We try to make it to a resort campfire for marshmallows at least once per trip. We didn’t get to the WL campfire but we did stop at the one at the BC. It was the tail end of the hour and the fire was great for marshmallow roasting. We seem to make it to that one the most often.
Yeah, we have done it at Fort Wilderness, but never at WL. It is pretty neat, and we'll try to actually do it sometime next trip.

It sounds like you had a great time at WCC. It is nice to eat at the resort and not have to worry about transportation to other restaurants. But I agree that Trails End is better.
Yeah, we have done WCC for dinner before, but usually prefer it for breakfast. It was a nice dinner though, with fun interaction with the waitresses. I do love the food more at Trail's End, especially the ribs. It may be a personal preference, but all of us agreed.

You make your stay at the cabin sound wonderful. I would love to stay there some time, although it would have to be In the master bedroom. :)
It was a neat place to get to stay, and I'm glad that we did it for more than just one night. The lake views are super impressive, and the living room space is amazing. I could see you sharing one with your daughter, and you getting the master. :)

Real Life Update:

We hope everybody had a Happy Halloween. We had a great time trick or treating with the kids. Marshall was a Fire Truck (not a fireman, since he really wanted to be a TRUCK, and we found a costume at TJ Maxx) and Allie was a pirate. After we got home and got Allie to bed Melissa and I were making lunches in the kitchen when she tripped over our dog Shelby on her way to the fridge. She didn't want to step on her, and instead came down sideways on her ankle, which broke both bones in her lower leg.

Hopefully I will have enough recovery time be good for Disney next year, but if not I could always get a scooter. In the mean time we are taking one day at a time.

We have to rearrange our work schedules to get Allie to and from school without Melissa driving, but hopefully it won't be like this for long.

We will work on the next Trip Report Update when we have time, and depending on how much pain medication I am taking it might be a good one.

Thanks for your patience and we will look forward to sharing more of our trip with you soon.

Oh OUCH Melissa I'm so sorry to hear about your broken leg. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Sorry if that's in bad taste but thought it was funny, hope you do too.

The truck costume is so cute! Love it!

Really sad to hear about Melissa's injuries. Wishing you a quick-as-possible and full recovery!

Thanks! He loved wearing it and got really into trick or treating this year.

You totally get my sense of humor. I loved it and literally laughed out loud.

Marahall's truck costume is adorable. There were some really creative costumes out there this year. Did Allie use anything from Disney for her pirate costume?

She didn't want to step on her, and instead came down sideways on her ankle, which broke both bones in her lower leg.
Poor Melissa, That sounds like a really nasty break, or breaks. It must be very painful Was it the right leg?

Catching up - those sunrise pictures are incredible, the cabin looks completely amazing, especially with the hot tub, and WCC sounds like such a fun time!

Sorry about Melissa's leg - what terrible luck! :(

Surprisingly she didn't use anything from Disney. SHe had an eye patch and rubber handcuffs that we got from Pirates, but she didn't use them. The costume came with a cute dress and hat, and we got it at a local kids consignment sale.

It was the right leg. We had the orthopedic appointment today and they re-set it, which hurt at the time but feels better for now. They are goign to schedule surgery in the next couple of weeks though because it broke bones on both side of the ankle and that should help keep evrything in place to heal.

Oh no! I hope you are getting better! I'm sure Marshal and Ali would love to zoom along in an ECV!
Yeah, they liked Grandma Nancy's ECV but we really don't want to need one. Her goal is to do another RunDisney event, maybe in 2020.

Thanks, we just love taking pictures at WL. There's just so many pretty things to enjoy. WCC was as fun as ever, which we were glad to see.

Thanks. At least it wasn't closer to a Disney trip. There will be time (and motivation) to heal.

Oh no!!!!! I hope it is a quick recovery. Loved the last update. Those cabins are amazing!!!!!
Thanks. The cabins are really neat, and so pretty. We have lots more pictures for the next updates, which we are working on as time permits. We should have the start of our first full day at the cabin up soon.

How cute that Marshall wanted to be a truck! Super cute costumes.

So sorry to hear about your injury. I broke bones on both sides of my right ankle last December - had surgery immediately and followed instructions to a T - was fortunate to be driving 6 weeks later and completed a 5 mile trail run (albeit a slow walk/run) 3 months after the injury. A knee scooter was my friend. :-) Wishing you a speedy recovery.

We were glad that we were able to find something cute and easy for it. We were wondering what we were going to do for his costume since he was certain that's what he wanted to be.

Thank you so much for replying. That is a great outlook. They just set the bone today, but didn't have an opening for surgery. Hopefully they can do that in the next 10 days, and then we can start the recovery. My biggest goal is to be able to do Disney next September with no walking aids, and that should be do-able. For now though I am in love with my nice new knee scooter. (Thanks to Amazon.com I got one with inflatable tires that is sooo nice.)

On Thursday, I woke up in the cabin about 6:00, then excitedly got up and went out to the patio to get some early sunrise pics. I set the GoPro up to do pics every minute, then I headed out to fill my mug. The Geyser Point drink station was still closed, so I went to Roaring Fork and took some pictures on the way.

Melissa got up about 8 and I went back to Roaring Fork in search of breakfast. I saw a crew replacing light bulbs in the courtyard with a small man lift. I guess it does take quite a few people to change a light bulb.

I had heard about the pulled pork grits from Roaring Fork and was itching to try them.

I thought they were pretty good, and it was my first time having Grits. The pulled pork gave them lots of flavor.

They were ok. I enjoyed them but I don’t know if I’d order them again. Just a personal preference though there really wasn’t anything wrong with them.

Part of the deal with this trip was that Allie was going to skip BBB and I’d do a mini makeover for her in the cabin.

Allie wanted some colored hair and makeup, but we forgot the makeup so fancy green hair would have to do.

I ordered some green clip in hair from Amazon.

She enjoyed it. We headed out from the cabin just before 10:00, with the plan to catch a boat over to Magic Kingdom. While we could have stayed in the cabin all day, we were still at Disney World and had things we wanted to see and do.

We saw the 10:00 geyser, and watched a big boat pull out as we walked towards the dock. We had to hang out and wait for it to come back, since apparently they were not running a small boat as well to MK.

It arrived at 10:28, and the CM wouldn’t let us carry the tiny stroller up front, despite it being smaller than our backpack and being completely folded. Since rules are rules on his boat, I sat with it in the back while everyone else went up front.

We got to MK at 10:42, and decided to ride the train to Fantasyland. Grandma rode her scooter and met us there. Marshall enjoyed riding the train, and we enjoyed not having to walk.

Marshall LOVED the train.

It was pretty hot so we let the kids play a minute in the water play area. Marsh didn’t want to leave until he saw Dumbo and decided he wanted to ride that.

We convinced them to head over to Dumbo and once we got inside they played in the air conditioned play area for over 15 minutes.

Then we rounded up Allie and we all rode Dumbo.

I braved it and actually enjoyed riding with Marshall. He’s so exuberant about everything it’s so fun to see these things from his perspective.

Allie rode with Grandma, and I rode with Grandpa. We all had fun.

Then Allie wanted to give the Barnstormer a try. It scared her last time she was on it, but that had been years ago.

I talked her into trying it so just the two of us took a minute to ride it. It was a good bonding moment.

While they were on Barnstormer we let Marshall go play in the water area again, and he got soaked.

He had a complete ball, and it was nice to let him wear himself out.

We wanted a snack after We changed Marsh into dry clothes so we went over to Gaston’s for cinnamon rolls. They are delicious but not as good as my homemade ones.
We still didn’t leave any crumbs.

Then we headed over towards it’s a small world where the line was over 25 minutes so we decided to continue on and see if we could get a fast pass for later. Since it was about lunch time we headed into Columbia Harbor House.

This is a true gem at Disney. We got a couple sampler plates to share. Marshall had fallen asleep so he skipped lunch but the rest of us really enjoyed the food.
My favorites were the shrimp and the hush puppies.

While we were looking for a place to sit we ran into Jon and Brandy who had been exploring the park on their own. We hadn’t talked about where we were going for lunch, but we all had the same idea.

We are often on the same wavelength.

They tried to room charge their meals, but the charge was denied. It appeared they had no charging privileges for the cabin.

After the great meal we decided to all go see the Hall of Presidents. We had a short wait and got in pretty quickly. It is a fun show and feels educational.

Allie was really looking forward to this one. She had to do a report and give a speech on Woodrow Wilson last year so she was pretty excited to see his portrait.

It was neat, and was our first time seeing it since President Trump was added. From there we walked back up to Small World, where we were able to walk right on at 2:10.

It was a great call to postpone our boat ride around the world.

I’m surprised we waited this long in the trip to do it. It was fun, and afterwards we headed to do some shopping on Main Street.

Allie had lost an earring so we needed to pick her up a new pair. We also found a pair of crocs for Marshall that he has literally worn every day since we got them. Including for my sisters wedding where he was in the wedding party.

He loves his Mickey Crocs, and they even light up. He isn’t interested in any other shoes. I guess it makes the cost worth it.

It was for sure worth it. It’s still hard to find shoes to fit his chunky feet. It’s nice he can put them on himself too.

The Cast Member at the check out gave Allie a bunch of stickers, which she decided to give to other kids during the rest of the trip.

We left the park at 3:00, just as a small boat left the dock. A big boat arrived at 3:09 to take us back to Wilderness Lodge.

Read about the rest of our afternoon in our next update.

So sorry to read about your leg! I hope you heal quickly...although I for one would be very amused by a section written while on the good stuff, lol.

Still enjoying your TR! That cabin would be a dream come true for me. I love WL. So sorry about your injury. We never know what each day will bring our way. What better motivation to heal than a Disney trip on the horizon!

I love your misty morning picture from the cabin. That is a great view and better than most views from the main buildings.

It looks like the CM's take the cushions off the furniture at Geyser Point. I was surprised to see that they replaced the tables and chairs outside of Geyser Point with nice couches and chairs. It has made the restaurant an even better place to be than it was before.

It was pretty hot so we let the kids play a minute in the water play area. Marsh didn’t want to leave until he saw Dumbo and decided he wanted to ride that.

We convinced them to head over to Dumbo and once we got inside they played in the air conditioned play area for over 15 minutes.
Having the air conditioned play area for Dumbo is one of the smartest moves Disney made when rebuilding that section of MK. Kids never want to leave it. :)

Allie rode with Grandma, and I rode with Grandpa. We all had fun.
That's a neat shot. Were you in the Dumbo car above them when you took the picture?

He had a complete ball, and it was nice to let him wear himself out.
The water play areas are so much fun for kids. It always makes me smile to see them playing in them. It was nice that it was hot enough for Marshal to get as soaking wet as he wanted. You must have planned ahead with dry clothes for him.

They tried to room charge their meals, but the charge was denied. It appeared they had no charging privileges for the cabin.
Did they ever figure out why they couldn't charge to the cabin?

We also found a pair of crocs for Marshall that he has literally worn every day since we got them. Including for my sisters wedding where he was in the wedding party.
Those are very cute crocs. I hope he doesn't outgrow them too fast. :)

The Cast Member at the check out gave Allie a bunch of stickers, which she decided to give to other kids during the rest of the trip.
That was really nice of Allie to pass on the magic to other kids. :)
