I Better Vote Tomorrow...

...or I'm liable to get another nasty-gram like I did last week shaming me for not voting in 2015 or 2017.

The letter was from the "Center for Voter Information" and it said data comes from publicly available state voter files.

I probably didn't vote in 2013 or 2011 either.

In odd year elections nothing of importance IMO is on the ballot in Delaware. Governor is the same year as President. U.S. Senator and Congress are always even years too. So are most Delaware state positions.

I suppose there are county positions in odd years. Maybe school board too.

But I plan to vote tomorrow.

I got one of those too. Says I didn't vote in the midterms in 2010. No idea what was up with that, are they planning to disenroll me?

People have the right to vote and the right not to vote too.

I got a kick out of a guy on our HOA board that chewed me out for not voting. I had to educate him that I made my choice, by not voting I helped to make sure they didn't meet their quorum. Thus my lack of vote had more of an impact then if I had actually voted.

I will drop my ballot off in the morning.

We will vote tomorrow...just about always vote.

We are so tired of political ads. However, a candidate stopped by our house today, we were happy to meet him.

I don't think I've ever gotten a notice saying I didn't vote. Is that a normal thing to get? Does it depend on what state you live in?
Your voting status is public but normally if people wanted to know they’d have to dig. Now you have this and there are apps as well so your friends can look you up and “shame” you into voting. It’s a big push but it has major potential to backfire IMO. I don’t like people in my face about my choices.

Oh I know your status is public. I mentioned on another thread about getting political text messages now instead of phone calls regarding voting for X person. I just hadn't heard of getting a letter admonishing someone for not voting. That's like a whole 'nother level IMO, same to those apps you're talking about-hadn't heard about that but that's crazy :sad2:.

I got one of those too, shaming me for not voting in NY for the 2014 midterms. They must have brilliant spies at getting their information because I wasn't even living in NY in 2014 and wouldn't have been eligible to vote there. I was living in WA then and did vote in that state. I've about had it with all the voting shame I've gotten this cycle. I've been voting for 20 years faithfully and I've gotten letters, postcards, phone calls, emails and txts all reminding me to vote this year like I'm some sort of child. I don't need the reminders, thank you very much! I'll be voting tomorrow morning and taking my 4 year old son with me, just like my parents always took me with them. I believe children who see their parents voting grow up to vote (or at least I did!) so I'm hoping to keep the tradition going.

I voted early and noticed something I didn't expect. I was getting 20-30 calls a day on my landline. Up to 10 were from the same # in Colorado. I don't answer calls I don't recognize but a few times I picked up the phone but heard only dead air, no voice real or mechanical I didn't say anything either so maybe they are voice activated?. I had the mail in ballot about a week before I finally returned it. Within a day almost all of the phone calls stopped. Today, the day before election day my phone only rang 4 times. Very few of the calls left voicemails but a couple did and mentioned my receiving the ballot and reminding me to return it. So they must put out a list of people who vote early or request ballots by mail. To me that is almost an invasion of privacy but I am glad the phone isn't ringing all day.

Why don't you vote? There's always important state props on the ballot even if your not interested in the candidates. Some of the propositions may affect your life more then who's in congress.

I do this too! Taking my kids with me to vote, I mean. I've been getting calls but they're not even from my local elections. A bunch are coming from Florida, urging me to vote for some Sherriff. I have never lived in Florida and my phone number has a PA area code.

I think of the reminders to vote as just that as well as a public service.
Should someone think it's "shaming" them to get this notification I suspect that's their mindset.

On the other hand I wish my NJ nabes well in their current election choices, LOL.
Seriously negative statewide and local campaigns that I get the"pleasure" of seeing/listening to via commercials.

I rarely answer my phone for unknown numbers that don't leave a message so miss the fun of hearing anyone ask for my vote in that medium.
Now if I could just get the texters who wish to advise me that my auto insurance has expired (don't own a car); what 3 foods I should never eat and the business loan that's ready for me if only I finish signing the papers, life would be pretty good;).
