We sadly checked out of the Villas today and everyone LOVED the 2 bedroom. For the 4 adults it was ideal: living area to socialize and each couple had their bedroom for privacy and naps. It was really nice to have the full size fridge as well.

I didn’t take pictures of all the inside area because any UTube video shows it better than I could but I did grab a few of the baths. Each bedroom had its own bath+. The 2 queen side had a smaller walk-in shower and also the tub shower combination. The king bedroom had a massive walk-in shower and a huge soaker tub. Both walk-ins had rain showers and adjustable hand helds.

The king bedroom slider looked over the roof area and WiFi was really odd in there. The side of the bed near the window was fine but the other side lost connection.

The other views were fantastic for Epcot and DHS Fireworks but nothing from MK

Food highlights were Be Our Guest and Morimoto dinners. Surprisingly some were still arguing the Prix Fixe menu. The service and food was incredible. Morimoto Peking Duck was fantastic. I am not fond of lobster but the chilled lobster there was delicious!

Deluxe Burgers in Disney Springs also has a crazy good garlic ranch sauce! :cloud9:

Between touring with the in-laws, keeping up on our running training schedule and the Fall Feast 5k, we were averaging 18 to 25 miles per day. I think I actually lost weight this trip!

And if you think the parks get crowded, we were about mid pack for the race so there is at last as many behind us as in front.

Have a Grand Saturday!

The villa sounds wonderful! Love the pics, thanks for sharing! Hope you're having a great time :).

Hello, old friends! Most of you probably won't remember me, but I did scroll back a but and see MickeyNut and trishadono, so I know some of my old pals are still here! I have not been on this board, or even disboards at all, in years! After a bit ion a hiatus, we plan to visit some time this summer. It felt good to get back on the boards! I don't necessarily think we will plan to stay at the GF this trip (don't love the outer buildings but main building isn't in the budget now that we need two rooms with the kids being older), but I know that I can never stay away from this thread for long, no matter where we stay!

We are staying at VGF for the first time in December—super excited! It was a last minute-ish switch and we’re now trying to get a reservation for Garden View Tea Room. I was able to snag an ADR for 2, but we need one for 3. I called and they couldn’t change it. The CM told me to keep my reservation and keep calling. Due to the table configurations though it seems like I should just cancel this ADR and keep looking for a 3-4 person table to open up. Is that the right way to go? Thanks!!

Hi bethclayton .....nice to "see" you back :). Glad you are able to get back to Disney this summer. I was at BWI in June and just got back last week from a Poly stay, but prior to that, my last trip was May 2011.....so I know what it's like being away for awhile. Hope you have fun planning your trip! Looking forward to seeing you around the thread again :goodvibes.

If you will cancel your current ADR for 2 if one for 3 doesn't become available, I would probably cancel and just keep looking as the only way to modify what you have is if a 3-4 spot becomes available. People do cancel/change plans, so it is possible to snag what you need. Good luck :wizard:.

Thanks! It’s for me, my mom, and sister so we won’t keep the 2-person ADR. I figured that was likely the case when I looked at photos of the seating, but wanted to check before I cancel it. Fingers crossed!!

You're welcome! Good luck, I hope you are able to find an ADR for 3 :flower3:.

I also remember how you were upgraded to the Grand Suite that time:goodvibes

It's lovely to think that longtime GF friends return to our thread from their wanderings, bringing news and memories. I'm trying to think ( without actually moving from my comfy position to look and do proper homework) just when we took our first GF stay. You can see from my signature that our family has been WDWing since I was a very small girl. I have been incredibly fortunate that my family loves to travel and would save up time and money to travel to our happy place every three or four years. Coming from such a distance, we are probably unusual as repeat visitors over decades. In the beginning we were Contemporary people. I can still recall my wide-eyed emotion seeing the lights of the A-frame tower loom out of blackness on our first arrival. The energy and atmosphere of that hotel back then with its Fiesta Fun Centre, the monorail with its many doors being slammed shut above the Grand Canyon Concourse. I was hooked. Of course, I was only a kid. Things mature; hotels can decline. To us, that's what happened to our old haunt. It was a nasty run-in with drunken guests, though made us look to our new home, yes, you guessed it - Our Grand!

I'm still trying to remember the year of our first GF stay. I have a feeling that Mickey hand was up at Spaceship Earth. But, no matter the year, we found our true Disney home and we couldn't imagine a stay without it. We'd rather take fewer trips and enjoy our bliss. But, I'm sure that we are in the minority due to many factors. Whew, I talk a lot. Anyway, a warm welcome back to GF friends! I hope you can stay a while.

We're in the minority with you as we feel the same way :goodvibes.

Woohoo! 13 days for us! We are so excited, but anxious about packing. We have 2 volleyball games, 1 soccer game, 2 birthday parties, and one Girl Scout field trip this weekend. Plus I need to do the usual weekend stuff and start packing. I know everything will fall into place, but until it does...yikes!

Here now, and just wanted to post a quick update that they are assembling the ginger bread house!!

It's always exciting to see the holiday decorations going up. Hope you're having a great time :santa:.

The days spent in the Fiesta Fun Center were THE BEST! Remember that movie theater they had in there as well? We spent hours there each trip. Such a shame that they removed it and put a restaurant there. It was always something we looked forward to. NOW, the concourse level is like sensory overload. WAY TOO MUCH squeezed into one space. It was so great before they moved Fantasia into the center. I remember the convenience/food/gift store connected right into Fantasia, and they both always had the best stuff! So sad to see it change.

Yikes is right!

If you forget something at least gf sells lots of stuff we need or want lol.

We finally stayed at gf for my ds's 8th birthday 2005. We were never any "people" . I always am changing things up.

However now that we are older dh and I are deluxe people.

Dd and I wouldn't mind values or mods but somehow I find a deal somewhere and end up moving up.

I greatly prefer mono resorts but I have wl in 16 days and am looking forward to it. I think the bus to Epcot is easier than mono mono, from gf.

I still get to boat to/from MK but the buses from wl are super fast and great in the morning.

Of course I'll visit gf to see the gingerbread house, a must do ! Also my January is back to gf so I have that to look forward too.

Oh I didn't stay at CR until 2010 but dh did in the 70's lucky guy.

My DH and I are heading to FL tomorrow to FINALLY get aboard the dream (Thank you Irma for causing us a headache lol), then we are FINALLY headed to the Grand for the first time! I have always wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian since I was like 8 years old! 28 years later my dream is coming true! My DH has only been to Disney 3 times (2 with me) and we stayed at the Yacht Club in September, and now the Grand. He is going to be so spoiled after this trip. We are tentatively planning a mod stay in Sept, but I think after this there will be no more mods for us haha.
