the little girl we holiday adopted provided very little info. I have her clothes and shoe size and she wants a baby alive doll THAT CHANGES COLORS?!?!?!-and likes doc McStuffins .
Do any of you have any info on what’s great for 7 ye olds?

Last year I started with basics- pjs, underwear, socks, backpack, fun toothbrush, etc.

Thx for any ideas

i will just suggest that anything that takes other things to use-batteries for example, be avoided. when i worked for dshs while the kids were thrilled to get little electronic items their parents were not able/willing to spend their limited funds on batteries (or in the case of things where you add additional books, games, learning apps....). once the inital batteries died or the kids grew bored/outgrew the inital game/learning tasks the items were never reused.

maybe she means a baby secrets changing color doll?

Art kits are great. Or disney jr. Coloring books with long lasting markers or crayons. My kids much prefer markers. Disney puzzles from dollar tree.

See? I don’t know about the doll so THANK YOU! I know this is all confidential but I say it every year: I with I could take our “ holiday adopted child” out shopping for a day. Let her pick out her own things and try on clothes.

But, we just do the very best we can with the information provided.

I love doing a Holiday Angel, but it can be so hard!!! I don't think they like to be so specific with requests for toys/extras. and focus on the needed clothing.

Anyhow, about the Baby Alive... I looked up some videos.
Not only are there a lot of things for them that have to do with color, like food...
But, they eat and poop... EEEEEWWWWW!!!!

Did I do it wrong last year I just got what was written down on the angel and that was prefect for my budget plan on doing the same this year

Ps are the angels out already

My daughter just turned 8 and loves shopkins and hatchimals right now. She also likes any kind of girl and doll clothes that match. You can find them at tons of places and they don’t have to be expensive. This is an awesome age where pretty much any toy makes them happy (barbies, dolls, toy animals, games, etc). I’m sure she’ll love anything you get her.

How about Doc McStuffins bed sheets or a throw blanket?

Classic board games like Trouble, Sorry, Connect Four, Guess Who, Mouse Trap, etc.

My dgd is 7. She isn’t much for baby dolls so can’t help you with that but she will sit for hours playing with a doll house.

She loves to read and likes most of the series for that age, board games, hatchimals, art kits, and crafts. She likes Doc McStuffins too.

Honestly, this is part of the problem. Some people go way over board and spend a lot of money. Others buy one or two smaller items. There is no right or wrong really. The biggest issue I see is if sibling 1 gets an over the top giver and sibling 2 gets the smaller items.

IMO, you're doing it right. The only reason I wouldn't follow the list is if I wanted to pay more than what the child asked for. In that case we follow the list, then add more. If we couldn't afford everything, we would buy the things from the list that I thought the child would enjoy more. I definitely wouldn't buy things they didn't ask for rather than follow the list. My opinion on what is a good gift means nothing, if that's not what the child wants.
